LOGINJenn’s POV We both turned to see Beta Simon baring his fangs at the two of us, his eyes glaring daggers. I could have asked what this insolence meant? If he realized the man he was growling at was the Alpha King, but then I realized how this must look to a bystander. “Is there a problem, beta Simon?” The Alpha King asked, his arms still around my waist from where he’d caught me from falling. Although he looked calm, I could feel the fury radiating from him. “Yes, there is a problem,” Simon growled, clenching his fist. “You have your arms around my Luna, and I demand –” The Alpha King moved too fast for my eyes to follow, but I felt when his arms left me. One minute he was standing in front of me, and the next he was clutching Beta's neck, lifting him up in the air as if he weighed nothing. “What did you say to me, beta?” The Alpha King growled. More like roared, because I could swear that I felt the earth tremble. “Repeat the statement you made just now and watch me rip your t
Jenn’s POV As if listening to my thoughts, the Alpha King came by the pack house that afternoon. Maybe it was just me, but for the first time since laying eyes on him, I realized how remarkably beautiful he looked. He was dressed in a shirt that hugged his muscular body, leaving nothing to the imagination. I used to believe that Wade was the most handsome man to walk the earth, but even Wade couldn’t hold a candle stick to where the Alpha King was. His eyes were the color of a stormy sea and always seemed to draw me in. Even now, they were all I could look at. When he met my eyes, it was as though my entire world lightened up. Something I never once felt with Wade. Don’t be mistaken, I love Wade. I loved the man since the very first day I set eyes on him, but this feeling with the Alpha King was completely different. I couldn’t think of the right words to describe it. It was like a connection that just happened naturally. There were no rules to it, no introduction. Just a life
Jenn’s POV I shot Wade a confused look, expecting some sort of explanation but none came. “Don’t tell me you intend to go back on your word, Wade,” I said. “You said she was going to stay as our slave until we made a decision and came to an agreement. I don’t recall us having that discussion.” Wade turned to me, narrowing his eyes into slits. “First of all, watch your tone with me, Luna. Secondly, I don’t recall saying I was going to have that discussion with you. Morgan and I have talked and we’ve come to an agreement about her living arrangements. The only option you have is to accept it.” “The only option I have?!” I exclaimed incredulously. “Is that what you really have to say to me Wade? That I have no voice and no input in what goes on in my own home? You bring a random person into our lives and just expect me to accept her because she’s what? Some fated mate?” Morgan’s face flushed red with anger, but before she could say anything, Wade jumped in. “Jenn, can you just listen
Jenn’s POV Somehow, I ended up being with both Wade and Morgan. It was safe to say the ride was one of the most annoying experiences I ever had. Not only did Morgan ensure to give me a leering look through the rearview mirror, she also tried to do everything to upset me. First of all, she fussed all over Wade, either by dabbing his face or playfully and confidently throwing her arms around him. Moves that Wade never objected to, even once. “Do you always take the forest road?” she asked casually. Wade chuckled. “Only when I don’t feel like dealing with patrol delays.” She nodded. “Smart. Wind shifts faster near the ridge. Harder for anyone to track you.” Wade glanced at her in the rearview mirror, surprise flashing briefly across his face quickly replaced by interest. “I’m surprised you noticed that.” “Its no big deal,” she shrugged. “My father drilled it into me. Track wind before scent or you’re dead.” I expected Wade to stiffen or react at the mention of her father, but h
Wade’s POV My mate was misbehaving and I needed to take care of it! After the grand ball yesterday, I’d decided to throw a smaller celebration today for the Alphas to meet, talk and finalize whatever plans they’d made with other Alphas. It was always the norm during every culling ball and I simply couldn’t change tradition. But when I finished preparing and realized Jenn wasn’t even home or anywhere around the pack house, a sudden anger had washed over me, followed by jealousy when I was informed by my beta that she was meeting the Alpha King. I had no idea what came over me in that instant but I knew that I needed to bring Jenn back home immediately. My feet moved before my brain could process what I was doing and by the time I realized myself, I was barging into the Royal suite reserved for the Lycan King. I was both shocked and annoyed to find Jenn really there and staring at me as though I was a stranger. All thoughts of what I’d intended to do fled from my head and for a
Jenn’s POV My heart pounded fiercely in my chest. I was very sure I wasn’t hearing him well. Did he just say he wanted something else from me? After demanding that I come under his protection. Did he forget I had an Alpha who was also my partner? I was very well taken care of. My wolf called me out on the lie as soon as it popped in my head. I wasn’t well taken care of, but why should I need another Alpha to take care of the things my own Alpha could take care of? ‘Because he isn’t taking care of it,’ my wolf voice shouted in my head. ‘He’s busy taking care of another woman and neglecting you. Tell me, has he come to us since the ball last night? Did he make any move towards us even during the ball?’ I knew she was right, but still, I couldn’t disrespect Wade like that. Even though some part of me knew he deserved every bit of it. I wanted to turn this man down, to walk out of his suite and never look back but something about him bothered me. As soon as I walked through those d
