“The decision whether you’ll stay or leave him,” Maxine repeated, stressing her words. Thea only shook her head, because truthfully, she herself didn’t know what to choose.

“Forget it, you still have plenty of time to think it over. Besides, the longer you stay conflicted, the happier Sebastian will be—because that just means you’ll be here longer,” Maxine said with a careless expression.

“So, what do you want to do now? I’m obviously not going to teach you how to cook since I’m terrible at it. How about we learn something else today—something we can actually practice?” Maxine continued.

Thea only responded with a nod.

“Change into something more comfortable, because today we’re going to spend the whole day—and maybe the whole night—out,” Maxine said before leaving Thea just like that.

Thea chose a short-sleeved T-shirt, a pair of jeans, and flat sandals. She didn’t wear heavy makeup, just sunsc

Sebastian returned to the penthouse just before dinner time. When he saw the table setting, he frowned because only three sets of cutlery had been laid out. “Why only three?” he asked Helen. The unspoken rule in Sebastian’s penthouse was that everyone considered part of his inner circle—Pierre, Helen, and Maxine—had to sit at the same dining table, as Sebastian disliked having empty seats.“Thea already ate earlier and chose to rest,” Helen replied. “It seems Maxine wore her out today.” She said it without a hint of complaint or blame, more as a statement of fact combined with an assumption.“Where’s Maxine?” Sebastian asked curiously. “Right here. Did you miss me, love?” Maxine answered as she appeared from one corner of the penthouse. She looked fresh, makeup-free, with her hair still slightly damp. “Don’t be mad at me for exhausting your lover. Remember, I’m here to teach her,” she added teasingly, flicking Sebastia

“Damn it!” Eireen grumbled behind Maxine’s back as she continued walking into the restaurant, ignoring her. “Do you think that rumor is true?” she asked Yiska, her voice filled with anxiety and nervousness.“How would I know,” Yiska replied with a shrug. Her expression was flat, but deep down she also despised Maxine, feeling that the transgender woman was always a hindrance to getting close to Sebastian. Just like Maxine disliked Yiska, Yiska disliked her as well. Yiska knew Maxine was well aware that she had been secretly working to drive a wedge between Eireen and Sebastian by subtly influencing Eireen.“Why don’t you try asking Aithan?” Yiska slyly suggested. “He’s Sebastian’s best friend, and they clearly meet every day at the office, so Aithan must know if Sebastian is planning to remarry or is seeing another woman,” Yiska added, clenching her fists beneath the table.Eireen looked at her friend for a moment, hes

Thea lay on her bed, sleeping alone tonight in her room at Sebastian’s penthouse. He hadn’t asked her to stay with him. Just as he had said earlier, Sebastian truly ended their contract: right in front of Thea, he tore apart the original agreement she had signed.Happy? She didn’t know. Thea herself was confused about her feelings. All this time living with Sebastian, she had always believed that breaking free from him would mark a new chapter in her life. But now… she didn’t know what to feel.Thea was lost. She felt directionless. She had no idea where to begin, or what she should do first. Return to her hometown? That wasn’t truly the choice she wanted. Her desire to avoid her father and mother was far stronger than the urge to see her grandmother. Her dream of working and earning a lot of money seemed to have vanished into thin air. She chose to be selfish, refusing to meet her mother’s endless demands. She deserved to be happy, didn’t she? She had the right to enjoy her own life.

Thea nodded, murmuring, “I know, Sir. And I have no reason to hate you.” Her answer made Sebastian tense. He raised his head, staring at Thea in confusion.“You knew?” Sebastian asked. Thea met his gaze with a calm look—almost devoid of emotion, just as Sebastian had suspected before—and nodded.“Since when?” Sebastian asked nervously.Thea paused for a moment, then said, “From the very first time I met you, I never believed you were blind,” she admitted honestly. “When your eyes moved, when you walked without hesitation, when your gaze was fixed on me, I always thought you could see—because your stare was so sharp, it made me feel as if I was being stripped bare.”“You never looked like the blind men I’ve known, and that made me think I was being deceived. Especially when I saw my reflection in your eyes, I always felt watched,” Thea explained softly.“But ever since you came back, your gaze has been different. Before, even though I suspected you could see, I never saw any light in y

Thea headed to the main building after cleaning herself up. Breakfast was ready, and everyone was already seated at the dining table. Helen called her over, and Thea sat in the empty chair just like the night before.“We’ll be going back today,” Pierre announced. “Pack up all of Miss Shareeza’s belongings, make sure nothing is left behind.” Pierre’s words were followed by Thea’s nod. That morning’s breakfast was filled with casual conversation, and Thea only responded occasionally. Even though she tried not to dwell on it, her mind was still clouded by the messages she had received the previous night, which dampened her mood. After breakfast, Thea helped Helen clear the table and wash the dishes. She then tended to Shareeza and her belongings.“Why do we have to go back?” Shareeza asked innocently as Thea helped dry the little girl’s long hair after her bath.“I don’t know, Miss. Perhaps Master has work to do,” Thea replied vaguely.Shareeza pouted in frustration. “Papa promised to ta
