On my way to meet Maria, my pace quickened. I needed to ask if she was involved in what Miller had revealed. As I approached, I overheard her talking to her maid. My shock grew as I listened carefully, unable to believe what I was hearing. All these years, she has been deceiving me. I felt foolish to think she had saved me. She was the cause of my mistreatment towards my mate. The anger in Keen’s howl mirrored the fury building within me.
