I froze to where I stood, too afraid that if I moved, someone would pounce on me. My heart stopped beating and my mind completely went blank as soon as Giofré sensed my presence. I was such a fool to not realize that he would feel another creature roaming around in their place. I should’ve been more cautious because right now, escaping this forest without getting hurt was near to impossible. “He said come out,” a woman said, enough to make me jerk. He snatched the paper out of my hands, crumpled it, and tossed it on the ground before he turned his back on us. “The beta who gave this to me. Maybe he knows where Valerie is,” Lucas concluded as I nodded. “Of course, he does. He’s probably the one who wrote that letter.” I pointed at the crumpled paper on the ground. “But why would your pack’s beta, possibly, kidnap Valerie? The blazing fury in the eyes of these werewolves made me freeze as I stood, hands quivered in fright, and beads of sweat started to trickle down my temples. They surrounded us, flashing their sharp fangs and augmenting claws that were ready to cut our throats. I tried to stay as close to the agent's Sir Shelton brought me, but when someone grasped my arm tight, pulling me away from the rest of them, I flinched. I tried to free myself from the grip but he was too strong that he easily dragged me out of the area.
