Chapter 1: The Night They Tried to Break Her

last update Last Updated: 2025-08-13 22:20:38

"Hey, look… Isn’t that Elena Monroe?" That so-called brilliant girl who got the highest score on that global debate called Southern Region Scientist Debate."

A voice that is full of hate came from the crowd.

"No one would have believed that she would do such a shameful thing when no one is watching."

Gasps filled the fancy banquet hall.

"I heard she tricked her way into Drake Hamilton’s bed. Maybe it’s true?" From another unknown second voice.

"With her background?" "How else would she have entered the academy?" Another person said.

Elena stood still at the big entrance of the hall. The space felt smaller as her eyes focused on the bright screen glowing in the center.

Nude pictures of Elena appeared before everyone in the hall.

They were laughing and whispering to themselves.

Her fingers clutched her dress tightly, as her heart beat faster.

This must be Drake's handwork.

Her wolf whimpered inside her, full of hurt.

A sudden roar came from the crowd as Marcus Paterson, Drake’s close friend, pushed through everyone without stopping.

Marcus ran straight to the power switch that is close to the stage and turned off the screen.

There was silence among the crowd.

Footsteps echoed on the marble floor as Marcus with lots of anger burning in his eyes, turned to face Drake.

"Drake! Have you gone insane?” Marcus’s voice cut through the silence. “Oh! You're not scared that if your memory ever returns, you’ll regret every stupid action that you have taken towards Elena.”

Drake stepped forward, his eyes cold and empty.

“If you still want to defend her, Marcus,” Drake said without emotion, “then as my friend and brother, I have nothing more to say.”

Drake’s next words hit like a whip.

“But Elena? She’s just a filthy ex-mate. I dare you not to ever say her name before my face again.”

Drake’s harsh words stabbed into Elena’s heart.

Elena gave a mocking smile. As she walked, her steps faltered as if she would fall but she didn’t fall. Her wolf whimpered again. Her mate… could no longer recognize her scent.

Drake Hamilton. Beta heir of the Crescent Moon Pack.

The same man who once knelt before her, holding her with care, his promises echoing under the Blood Moon.

The same man who swore to marry her the day of their accident.

And then... everything shattered. He forgot everything.

Elena was unconscious for two years in a coma after the accident.

But her love story with Drake changed when she woke up from her deep sleep. It was obvious to her that her mate had chosen another woman.

Her place in the pack was gone.

She tried. Moon Goddess knew she had tried.

She tried to bring back what they had and to make him remember their bond.

But that night, someone had drugged her.

Her vision had blurred. Her body had turned weak.

She had gone into the wrong room and ended up in his bed.

And now… This.

The shame was cruel and mocking that almost everyone turned against her.

Marcus growled, as he grabbed Drake’s collar with his two hands. The fabric stretched tight between them.

"Are you even thinking straight?" Marcus shouted. “If not for your obsession with the mating bond, Elena wouldn’t have been in that car with you on that fateful day! Drake! You were desperate to seal it before the Blood Moon.”

Marcus’s wolf stirred under his skin, almost breaking free. “She rescued you when that rogue attacked."

"She took the blow meant for you! And this is how you repay her? By shaming her in front of everyone?”

Drake shoved him back easily.

“She took the hit for me?” His voice was flat. “Fine. Then we’re even.”

Drake’s next words were loud like thunder.

“She drugged me. Crawled into my bed like a desperate fool. And now she’s pretending to be the victim?”

Elena looked straight at him and what she saw broke her heart.

“If not for Cassandra,” Drake continued, “I would have exposed even more of what she did.”

The room was filled with noise again.

Voices rose.

“Elena should be ashamed of herself.” said one voice.

“She should be glad Drake Hamilton even wanted her because she is below his standard,” said another.

“She comes from nothing. She is just an ordinary omega from that filthy and poor man named Derrick Monroe.” another voice added.

But what they don't know was that Elena wasn’t nobody. At least, Drake once belonged to her.

Elena felt her inner beast stir inside her.

Now, she was just a shadow of what she and Drake used to be.

“Marcus, you need to be calm about this and stop acting as the victim,” someone said with a mocking laugh. “Remember it’s Drake Hamilton’s birthday. No need for drama.”

“Exactly,” another agreed. “Elena needs to move on. Cassandra is with Drake now.”

“Elena said she won’t agree to a divorce until his memory returns. But what if it never does?” “Will she always hang around?”

“She should know her place. She never fit in with us. Drake’s family only accepted her because he forced them to accept her. But after the accident, I believe that Drake came back to his senses because it's now clear before his eyes that Elena is not on the same level as him. She is not even supposed to stand on the same road that Drake walked on.” said one of Drake’s friends, Noah.

Noah lifted his palm and rubbed it at the back of his head, then whispered slowly as if he was talking to himself.“ The difference is very clear,” Noah added.

Elena’s vision blurred again, but not from tears. Something fierce awoke in her veins.

They wanted her to crawl, beg, and leave quietly. But she wouldn’t give them that satisfaction.

Everyone has forgotten that Elena Monroe from the Monroe clan is not just an ordinary omega.

Then she stepped forward.

Each step cut through the whispers.

Elena stopped in front of Drake.

The man who once cupped her face with love. The man who once called her name to the stars.

The man who now stood like stone, their bond broken by memory and betrayal.

She looked into his eyes.

And smiled.

“Drake." Her voice was too calm.

Elena reached into her handbag. Pulled out a document. One sheet of paper. The ink is still fresh.

“Let’s end the mate bond.”

Elena used her left hand to remove the little hair strap that is on her upper lip. Clearing her throat, she asked, “Is Hamilton Corporation in such a hurry?”“They are anxious,” came the reply from the other end of the line. “Though they may be in a hurry, we will not rush. Our company put its people first. When we share our strength, we share it with our kin before outsiders. I will not see a repeat of what happened with the Nolmex Group. If Hamilton Corporation cannot bow to our terms, then we keep pressing.”The memory of Nolmex Group still burns in her mind. They had charged their company more than they dared charge outsiders. If not for their endless delay and petty disputes, she would have cut them off sooner.Elena growled low, “I am not saying Hamilton Corporation should starve. I only say we will not starve our own to feed them. If they cannot bend, then let the deal die. Tell the manager that these are my words. No pleas will change them.”A beat of silence followed, the ca

Elena quietly entered through the side passage into the lounge, where only Dolphus stayed. He was draped across the sofa, his head settled against the rear. The glass door separating the lounge from the box quivered with echoes of voices and bursts of laughter. Through it Elena could see the group of executives she had met earlier at the airport, all still celebrating. She drew her gaze back and moved closer to Dolphus. Before she could utter a single word, his eyes opened.“Why are you here?” His voice was low, Dolphus straightened himself and reached for his glasses.“Richard had something personal to handle,” Elena answered softly. She stepped closer and lifted the tea for him. “He asked me to come for you. Are you alright? Should I fetch you a cure for the ache?”Dolphus accepted the cup, his large hand brushing hers briefly. “It’s fine. I did not drink much, only the pounding in my skull. I’m sorry for missing the family dinner.”“It’s nothing. I dropped Lexa off and left,” Elen

Drake rose to his feet. “I do not have Elena’s contact information,” he said, staring hard at his mother. “Mother, whether that child was adopted or born from Elena’s blood, it does not matter. To Elena, she is the last kin left in this world. I will not fight her for the child.” “Are you doing this for Cassandra?” she snapped. “Are you afraid she will not accept this child? Drake I never liked Cassandra. It was you who insisted, and so I allowed it. If she cannot accept this child…” “Stop, Mother,” Drake’s tone grew harsh, his patience fraying. “Do not drag Cassandra into every word you spit. Is she not good enough for you?” “If she were good, then she would have married you already and given me a grandchild!” his mother barked. She dropped back into her chair, glaring at him. “You said you could not live without her. Your father and I had no choice but to accept her. Then why delay? Why not marry, why not bear children? Yet she keeps saying it is her career’s peak. That she cann

  • The Forbidden Second Marriage.    Chapter 77: The Blood She Tried to Hide

The uneasiness boiling inside Cassandra's heart is deeper than the night she first learned that Drake had started regaining his memory. “Elena is already mated, perhaps that young cub only has a taller height than most pups,” Cassandra forced herself to calm down, and slipped her arm from Drake’s mother to keep her balanced. Her tone softened with respect. “Forgive me, Auntie. I came too late. I could not buy the flower you cherish. I will keep searching for a seller willing to part with one.”Drake’s mother hardly heard her words. Her mind was tangled in the image of the young girl standing beside Elena moments ago. That child had Elena’s face, as if the Moon Goddess herself had carved the same mold twice. If that little one truly carried Drake’s bloodline, then… how could a child of her pack, her granddaughter, be left wandering the world outside without protection? The thought set her palms itching. Elena drove her car to the old Farrington mansion. Lexa sat strapped in the chil

Elena bent down, her hand moving gently over Lexa's soft head. Lexa's eyes caught the pot of peony flowers sitting high on the wooden table, and she pointed with all the excitement in her small body.“Mummy, Seraphina would be so happy if we got this pretty flower for her!” Lexa's voice rang.Elena turned to the old man who stood by the stall.“Sir, is this flower for sale?” she asked.“Do you truly know this flower, or are you only buying it to please your young pup? This flower is not easy to keep alive. Its spirit fades quickly if one doesn’t care for it with patience.” The old man responded.Elena met his gaze with honesty. “The only thing I know is that this flower is a peony. It’s not for the child to play with, but a gift for my family. The elders in our pack love flowers. We came here today to choose one they can treasure.”The old man straightened his back slightly. His voice rolled with weight as he declared, “Yes, this flower is a peony indeed. And I tell you, no other acro

Lexa had just seen Dolphus. That evening she insisted Dolphus soothe her to sleep, curling against him.Elena’s eyes were fixed on her phone while sitting on the couch. News feeds scrolled endlessly beneath her fingers. Not only the voices of local and foreign media but even lone scribes of self-run channels filled the screens. They all carried one tale, how the land had conquered the secret of microchips and the power of photolithography machines.A quiet smile crept over her lips as she read. She knew what that meant. By the time her eyes lifted from the screen, the clock read past ten. Elena rose, padding silently across the floor. She pushed open the bedroom door. Dolphus sat on the bed. Lexa was already fast asleep in his arms. When dawn broke, Elena rose alone. Dolphus had already left for the pack’s business. On the table lay his scent and a folded note, left for Lexa. His words were brief. He wrote that he would meet them at the old Farrington family mansion that afternoon.
