The banquet

The following morning, I slowly opened my eyes only to close them immediately when the morning sunlight assaulted them.

I groaned, cursing softly as my head thumped loudly. The pounding felt like it would knock my head off the neck.

It was a hangover.

The headache and the nausea were bad, but they were not the worst part of a hangover. What made them the worst was that the moment I had woken up, I knew they would plague me the whole day.

I tried to raise my hands to massage my temples but found my body was heavy, as though my limbs were being pulled by a great force.

"You are awake." A voice sounded from beside me and I turned around. Alex was sleeping beside me. He wore no expression on his face.

The events of last night rushed into my mind and I looked away, embarrassed.

"I am. I don't feel too good."

"That is not a surprise. You were wasted," he said and paused. "Do you remember anything?"
