THIRD PERSON POV

Ryker's words were a potent reminder of their past, of the injustices they had suffered from Kael. It rekindled the fire of resentment that burned within her, pushing aside her doubts.

"I'm ready," she said, her voice firm. "Tell me what I need to do. Just name it, I'll do it for us."

Ryker's eyes gleamed. "Aaron's contact has given us the go ahead. He wants you to infiltrate Kael's pack, get close to Elara and report her movements. Find out more about her routines, her weaknesses and her vulnerabilities. Everything."

"And how am I supposed to do that?" Seraphina asked, her brow furrowing. "I'm a known traitor. The former Luna who helped you escaped. They won't let me anywhere near her."

"That's where your....great acting skills comes in," Ryker said with a sly grin. "You need to convince them that you have repented, that you are genuinely remorseful for your past actions. Okay the victim, beg for forgiveness, say I manipulated you. Do whatever it takes to win back th

Celeste's POVCold, everything was cold. The floor under my back was hard concrete. It smelled like death and blood. Like things that should be buried. But I wasn't dead. Not anymore.I opened my eyes slow. The world looked different. Colors were brighter. Sounds were louder. I could hear a mouse moving in the wall twenty feet away. Could smell fear and pain soaked into the concrete around me.I sat up. My body moved wrong. Too smooth. Too easy. Like I was floating instead of moving. The den was quiet now. Bodies everywhere. Darius's men scattered around like broken toys. Blood on the walls. Holes in the concrete from bullets and claws.I looked down at myself. My clothes were torn and bloody. But my skin was perfect. No wounds. No cuts. Just pale white skin that seemed to glow in the dark. And on my chest, over my heart, was a mark I'd never seen before. It looked like a crescent moon made of silver fire. It pulsed with my heartbeat. Each pulse sent warmth through my whole body. The M

RONAN'S POVThe smell was bad. Death and blood everywhere. Made me want to throw up.Dead bodies all over the place. Darius's guys were scattered around like trash. Some had holes from bullets. Others had cuts from claws. Blood on the walls. Dark red that looked black.I stepped over a dead guy by the door. His eyes looked at nothing. His mouth was open like he died yelling. This place was hell.Kael was behind me. Still holding Elara. She looked tiny in his arms. So white. Her heart stopped for two minutes before he got it going again. But she wasn't awake. Wasn't doing anything."We got to go," I said.Kael didn't say nothing. Just stared at her face. Like looking at her would wake her up.But I had stuff to do first.Ryker was against the wall where I left him. Blood down his face from his busted nose. His left arm looked weird. Broke it probably.Good.I grabbed his shirt and pulled him up. He made a sound and tried to get away."Wake up," I said. I hit him in the face. Hard. His

THIRD PERSON POV "She's dead already."Kael stopped walking. His hand was on the metal door. Behind him, Ronan was breathing hard."What?" Kael said quietly.Darius came out of the dark corner. His clothes were ripped and bloody. His eyes looked crazy. He was holding something in his arms. It was Celeste. She wasn't moving. Her head hung down wrong."I said she's dead. Your girl. Just like my Celeste."The smell hit them. Death. Blood. Bad things.Ronan made an angry sound. "You're lying.""No?" Darius pushed his face against Celeste's cold cheek. "Go look. Third room. She's getting cold now."Kael felt sick. His wolf was angry inside him. It wanted to kill. But Kael was scared."Ronan. Go find her."Ronan ran into the dark hallway. Kael could hear his feet on the concrete floor.Darius kept talking. He held Celeste like she might wake up. "You know what it feels like? When will they die? When will they stop breathing?""You're sick.""No. I'm in love. Real love. The kind that doesn'

RONAN'S POV"Did you hear that?" I stopped walking and grabbed Kael's arm. Something had just brushed against my mind. Soft and desperate. Like someone calling for help from very far away."Hear what?" Kael looked around the dark forest. His silver eyes glowed in the moonlight."Not here. Feel." I pressed my hand to my head. "Someone just reached out to me. Through the mind link." The feeling came again. Weaker this time. But I caught pieces of it. Pain. Fear. A name whispered over and over. Ronan. Ronan, help me."It's Elara," I said. My blood went cold. "She's alive. But she's in trouble. "Kael's face went hard as stone. "Where?"I closed my eyes and tried to feel for her again. The connection was so weak. Like trying to catch smoke with my hands. But there was something else. Something that made my skin crawl."There's dark magic involved. Old magic. The kind that shouldn't exist anymore.""Can you track her?""Maybe. If I can find the sigil traces." I looked at Kael. "But

ELARA'S POV"Aaron? Aaron, wake up."My mouth felt all weird when I talked. Like my tongue was too big or something. My head hurt real bad. Like someone smacked me with a rock. Everything hurt. My arms. My legs. Even breathing hurt.Aaron didn't answer me back. I opened my eyes slow. The room was way darker now. Most of the candles died out. The air smelled nasty. Like old pennies mixed with something rotten. Then I saw him. Aaron was laying right next to me on the cold floor. His eyes stared at nothing. His shirt was all dark and wet. Blood. Way too much blood."No," I said real quiet. "No, no, no."I touched his face with my shaky hand. His skin was ice cold. The kind of cold that means someone's been dead a long time.Aaron was really dead. My chest felt like something heavy was sitting on it. Aaron was supposed to keep me safe. He said he'd get me out of this place. He promised he'd figure something out. Now he was just dead like everyone else in this scary room.I looked a

THIRD PERSON POV " You can't be gone. Not like this. Not when I need you." Darius sat next to Celeste on the cold floor. Her body was so still. Too still. Her skin felt like ice when he touched it. All the warmth was gone. Had been gone for hours. But he couldn't accept it. He wouldn't. His hands shook bad. Blood covered them from trying to stop her wounds earlier. The wounds that killed her. The wounds that meant she was really dead."No," he said out loud. "This isn't how it ends."The room was too quiet. Just his breathing and nothing else. Candles flickered on the walls. Made weird shadows dance. Everything felt empty without her voice. Without her laugh. Without her calling him stupid when he did dumb things. She always called him stupid. She was gonna call him stupid again when she saw what he was about to do.Darius got up fast. Too fast. His head spun but he didn't care. He had work to do. The most important work ever.He thought about the secret room under the old chur
