CHAPTER EIGHTY-FIVE

THIRD PERSON POV

(After Kael's return and Ryker's defeat)

Kael, having wrested bavk control of the pack from Ryker, now sat behind his desk. The dungeons held Ryker captive, along with his men- those that survived the war and refused to surrender.

Elara, though physically present, remained emotionally distant, like a silent shadow in his life even though Kael wanted more. She was cloaked in a perpetual sorrow that he couldn't penetrate, especially since it had been recent that she left Ronan's palace.

Kael was engrossed in a financial report, his brow furrowed in concentration when the office door suddenly burst open with such force that it rattled the portraits on the walls. Seraphina stormed in, her eyes blazing with fury. Two guards reacted instantly, surging foward to stop her, but Kael raised a hand, stopping them in their tracks.

"Let her be." He commanded. The guards bowed their heads and retreated, leaving Seraphina alone.

Seraphina turned around, her face

THIRD PERSON POVThe inside of the abanonded cabin smelt like dirt and old leaves. Ryker pulled his threadbare cloak tighter, trying to block out the damp chill. It had been days since he'd busted out of Kael's dungeon with the help of Seraphina. She had risked everything to get him free.He was grateful, sure, and shocked at the length she would go for him. But what was most important to him was the burning need to make Kael pay.Seraphina was already inside the room, pacing around like a caged animal. Waiting for Ryker's return. As soon as the door creaked open, she rushed out. A sigh of relief escaped her lungs as Ryker walked in, a smug look on his face."I was worried sick!" She snapped. "How could you walk freely when you know we are being wanted?!"Ryker simply shrugged and walked towards her. "I'm fine," he said, his expression now hardening. "You don't have to worry about me. You should worry about our plan instead.""Our plan?" She scowled at him, her eyes following him as h

THIRD PERSON POVSeraphina whirled around, her eyes widening as she saw Ryker standing beside a book shelf. He was dressed in a dress pant and button up shirt with the sleeves rolled at each hand, his muscular physique accentuated by the tight-fitting clothes."Uh...hi," she stuttered, avoiding eye contact. The room seemed to shrink, the air thickening with an unspoken tension. Despite the fact that the air was cold, Seraphina felt hot.He walked closer and stretched out his hand, his eyes never leaving hers. She hestiated for a moment, then placed her hand in his. His touch sent a jolt of electricity through her, making her skin prickle. Ryker chuckled softly as he noticed the effect his touch had on her. Without saying a word, he led her towards his office desk where she sat down on a plush velvet chair opposite the massive imposing seat behind it. He causally leaned against the edge of the desk, close enough that she could feel the warmth radiating from his body."So...you came," h

THIRD PERSON POVTwo days had passed since Ryker's unsettling visit to the garden, and Seraphina's mind was like a battlefield. His words, like insidious seeds, had taken root, blossoming into a tangled mess of doubt and confusion.'He doesn't deserve you.' The phrase echoed relentlessly in her thoughts. She stood in the library, her gaze fixed on a painted portrait of Kael. He was captured in a moment of quiet strength, his eyes reflecting a deep well of integrity and kindness. But as she looked at him, Ryker's words clawed their way back to the surface. A frustrated sigh escaped her lips. The unwanted attention towards Ryker, a mere spark ignited by fleeting touches, was threatening to become a dangerous flame. It unnerved her, the unsettling pull towards someone so wrong felt like a betrayal of everything she believed in.But then again, she had given her all to Kael and never for once had he noticed her, talkless of even laying in the same bed with her.She gnawed on her bottom l

THIRD PERSON POVSeraphina sat perched on a weathered stone bench nestled within the gardens outside the palace walls, her gaze drifting listlessly over the vibrant blooms. It had been five days since Kael's departure, yet each agonizing hour left like an eternity stretched thin, a relentless testament to her growing discontent.Actually, even living with Kael had become an exercise in endurance, as unbearable in its own way as his current absence...if not worse. He was like a ghost in her life. A couple in name alone, but a stranger in their bed, never once graced her with a genuine display of affection nor a tender touch or even the simple comfort of his presence. Her hormones, already in a state of chaotic rebellion due to the subtle shift in the moon's cycle, were now engaged in open warfare, wreaking havoc on her emotions and pushing her close to the brink of madness.A heavy sigh, laden with frustration and a deep seated sense of loneliness, escaped her lips as she absently tra

THIRD PERSON POVTwo days had passed since Ryker that dispatched the coded message to his hidden forces, the loyalists and mercenaries scattered throughout the vast expanse of the Lycan territory, men and women who knew no law but Ryker's will, no allegiance but to his ambition. These were wolves that had been cast out, the outcasts and the rejects, those with a deep hunger for power. The seeds of chaos, carefully cultivated and patiently nurtured, had been sown, and now, it was time to reap the bloody harvest."My Lord," Fenrir, a towering figure of muscle and bone with a jagged scar that bisected his left eye, knelt before Ryker. His massive frame casting a long, ominous shadow across the chamber. His intimidating presence filled the room, a stark testament to his brute through years of bloodshed and shared ambition. "You summoned us, My Lord?""My brother has foolishly vacated the throne, leaving the realm vulnerable and exposed," Ryker said, his voice filled with ambition as he st
