Chapter 68 —The Truth

Marco’s POV

When I got home, Frances was acting off.

She didn’t hug me the way she usually did. Instead, she brushed past me, gave me a quick kiss, and mumbled something about having somewhere to be. Then she rushed out before I could even ask a question.

I stood there, frowning because that wasn’t like her. But I shook it off. “Women and their moods.” I went to eat, then lay down for a nap.

When I woke up, my mind went straight to the document. The one Frances almost signed before her father barged in. That stupid old man had ruined everything. I needed her signature—without it, the deal was worthless.

I picked up my phone and called Deniro. If Lucian had betrayed me, I wasn’t worried. I could always get another copy from that cowardly lawyer. He was too scared to go against me.

The call connected, and right away, I noticed something odd. His voice echoed. Like he was on speaker.
