“Elena, hold up, trust me, you don’t want to meet up with them. They don’t have any good plans for you.” I ran after her as she was about to board the car.

“They? Who’s they?” She asked, though I could sense it was more from sarcasm than actual interest, but I didn’t relent.

At that moment, I couldn’t understand the reason, but deep down, a feeling of shame and regret engulfed me for all I had done to her.

I was also tired of fighting, and I accepted that my father was right.
