Anna Delgado stood nervously in a lavishly-decorated room. She was all alone in her long, flowy white dress; her hair in an elegant bun, with two strands framing the sides of her face. She tried to calm herself by breathing slowly.

All her life, Anna has imagined her wedding day to be a joyous occasion. She'd be nervous, she had said, but her happiness would be greater.

Her childhood friend, Dalton had agreed with her, joking that he would grace her wedding as her flower boy, throwing petals on unsuspecting guests, and dumping the rest of the basket on her head.

They had laughed back then. But as she steadied herself alone in that room, she can't help but note that no one is laughing now. Today is her wedding day, and not a single joyful sound is heard. She fought back tears at this thought.

She had pushed through with the wedding, after all. She made her decision, and she was going to stand by that.

Outside, she can hear people's quick footsteps, and tense voices.

But now, she can't help but wonder whether she made the wrong decision.

The groom, her groom, is nowhere to be found. Already an hour since the supposed start of their wedding, and not even the groom's shadow is in sight.

Dalton Guevarra was Anna's childhood best friend. They had been inseparable when they were young, and continued their friendship over the years even when they went to different schools for college.

They would hang out regularly, and talk for hours on end about their lives, and their future. Anna smiled bitterly when she remembered how Dalton repeated his flower boy role at her wedding one afternoon.

He had said back then that he would be the happiest guy when that day comes. Except for her groom, she had insisted, he'd be the happiest and luckiest man out of all of them.

Dalton had smiled fondly and told her that their children would be the best of friends, just like they are now. Anna had scoffed, but agreed silently.

But now that that day has come, Dalton is nowhere to be found. It seems that he had abandoned his role at the wedding— not as the flowerboy, but as her groom.

She had never imagined Dalton to object to the wedding that much. There had been some moments when she felt like giving in to Dalton's demands, but the reality of their family's situation made her firm.

She quickly wiped her tears when a knock sounded on the door. Her father cautiously opened the door, peeking inside.

"Anna, how are you?" Mr. Delgado took his daughter to sit on the nearby sofa.

"I'm fine, Dad. Don't worry about me." Anna faked a smile. "Have they found Dalton yet?"

Mr. Delgado shook his head. "They're still looking. The guests are starting to become agitated, but we've managed to divert their attention for a while.

"They are being entertained with a performance right now. We attributed the delay to an error of the indicated time on the wedding invites," he continued.

Anna nodded her head. She studied her father. He seemed more distraught about this issue compared to when he first told her about the imminent fall of their company.

He had been devastated by then, but he looks more shattered right now. The thought that he was the reason why his daughter is going through this humiliation is probably eating him up more than he was willing to show.

Anna felt her heart break for her father. She imagined how tough this must be for him.

She could sense that he was debating something in his mind, trying to come to a decision.

Finally, Mr. Delgado cleared his throat.

"Anna, I know I was the one who suggested this marriage. And I know more than anyone what is on the line here. But my child, I can't bear to see you like this. I shouldn't have put this much burden on you. Forgive me, Anna," he wiped away a tear.

"Dad, I'm willing to take on a lot more for our family. If this is how I can help you, I am more than willing to do it with all my heart." She squeezed her dad's hands on hers.

"I know that, and I'm really proud and grateful to you. But I can see how much this is affecting you. So, if you want to back out of this wedding, you can. We'll take care of the rest. Just tell me what you want."

Anna stared into her father's earnest eyes. She remembered how Dalton first reacted when their family broke the news to them. He had been livid.

She also remembered the days that followed after the announcement. Dalton begged her to help him change their family's mind.

Then she remembered how Dalton had changed from being her most favorite person to someone she barely recognized. She had thought that Dalton would eventually come around and accept her as his fiancee, but it had only made him resent her.

She tried to imagine what their marriage would look like. Her face crunched at the thought of certain possibilities. The sight did not appeal to her. Although, there is still that nagging sensation screaming the word 'BANKRUPTCY' in her mind.

She focused her eyes on her father, her mind finally made up. "Dad," she started. "I think that—"

The door swung open, revealing a butler out of breath. "Sir, Mr. Guevarra is finally here.”

I mean, Anna deserves what she gets. He is her best friend. She should have told him about her family’s money problems as the reason why she was accepting the marriage.

"Oh you'd love that, wouldn't you?” Rachel said sarcastically. "Unfortunately for you little sister, I'm free for the whole month. So you better hope your designs will justify my beauty!" “Actually," Nora said apologetically, "Due to unforeseen circumstances, I would be moving the date of the fashion show two months from now." “Oh, shut up!” Rachel hissed as Nora chuckled mischievously."Do you need a male model, Nora?” Dalton offered. "I think I'm also free on that date." “Ew, no.” Nora quickly replied, looking repulsed. "My sales might drop drastically if people see you wearing my clothes." Anna and Rachel chuckled.“Do you see how awful your sister is, Dalton?" Rachel joked.“I think I might have to agree with you on that one, Rachel," Dalton smirked."Say what you want, that still wouldn't change the fact that the value of my designs would decrease if they're ever to be seen on you." “Really? Because I think it would be the opposite,” Dalton contradicted."Oh shut up," Nora s

“No. I stand firm in that.”The other reporters shifted agitatedly in their seats. Even their lawyer seemed at a loss. This girl really loves digging her own grave, and dragging her colleagues to the bottom with her.Even the jury thought that the reporter was out of line. They could just feel Gordon Delgado's fury emanating all the way from Hawaii. “May we ask what makes you so sure about your claim?" The judge inquired. “Do you have evidence?" Romea faltered for a bit, but answered, “Everyone knows the story. The late Mr. Guevarra and Mrs. Delgado had relations. Everyone knows that the Delgados had always wanted to infiltrate the Guevarras' massive pool of resources."Anna's mother failed, so she had to do the job instead. Now, we all know that she succeeded in that department. And she's eliminating every competition she has, before Dalton casts her aside.”Anna could not believe what she was hearing. Even Rachel, Dalton, Nora and Dianne who were on the stands could only stare at

"Nothing like that, Uncle Moore,” Anna replied. “But as you already know, various reporters had been harassing me for the past months.”“Yes,” Atty. Moore nodded. “I looked it up, and I found out that your father and Dalton already took action. The reporters stopped so I had to cancel my lawsuit.”Anna stared at him. She never realized that it was Dalton who intervened after that past incident. She knew her father took action after the first Khea case, but that didn't stop the reporters. They still harassed her until Sabrina appeared. But when they stopped, she thought that it had just been because they lost interest. Dalton pulling strings actually makes more sense now that she thinks about it.“Why?” he asked. “Did the media companies come after you because of this?”“No,no,” Anna quickly answered. “Not the companies, the reporters did. Apparently, they got laid off, and they’re blaming me for it.”“I see. Did they try harming you?”“Not physically,” Anna said.“they know they'd imm

Most of the reporters were taken aback with how intense Anna asked the question. But one of the female reporters continued. “You Delgado women really do want the Guevarras for yourself, huh?" Anna took a few steps towards her, levelling her with an intense gaze.“First, your mom, now you. You just do everything without a care on how it will affect others, don't you?" the reporter continued, but her voice was getting smaller with every step Anna took towards herThe other reporters urged their colleague to stop.“Romea, that's enough,” they whispered at her, knowing very well that they indeed crossed a line when they dragged Anna's dead mom to the conversation. The Delgados won't really let them off this time. Anna just finished meeting with a former client whose case has also been reopened. Her client was scratching her head wondering what made the other party repursue the case. Ms. Anna had already warped it up beautifully, and both parties agreed that settling the matter privately was the best course of action. So, why are they suddenly claiming that they had been robbed? It just didn't make sense. As Anna headed to her car, she heard a voice calling out to her. “Hey Anna, wait up!”She stopped walking to let Rachel catch up to her. The girl was still wearing her high heels and Jeave outfit, looking like she just stepped out of a magazine.“Are you done with your shoot?” she asked as soon as Rachel caught up with her.“Yup. My manager was just suggesting that we head to this restaurant for dinner with the rest of the team when I saw you.”“Well, why didn't you go with them?” Anna asked. “You know, this is exactly why most people say that you have a bad attitude.”Rachel shrugged. “I’m wa

Dalton froze. The venom in Anna’s voice told him that she wasn't reacting as what Mark had promised him. “Dalton,” Anna repeated slowly. “What’s wrong with my drafts?”He swallowed, not knowing what to tell her. Should he just come clean and tell her that it was his way of flirting with her?No, of course not. She would not take that too lightly. She was already busy as it is, and he promised himself not to bother her until the water was clear again. Dalton almost banged his head on the table. He messed up big time.Anna was still staring at him, waiting for him to speak. He cleared his throat. “I’m sorry,” he said. “I misspoke. I meant to ask what this draft regarding the Burton case is all about. Because as far as I know, their case has already been closed.”Anna let out a sigh, after Dalton spoke. “The other party is suddenly claiming that they had not been well-informed regarding the settlement. That is why they are getting their lawyer to reopen the case.”She placed the stac
