“What did you do?” Lyra asked as she walked up to me pushing her sunglasses up to her head.

I sat confused as I looked in the direction Piper had run off too.

“I don’t know.”

And I genuinely didn’t. One second we were talking and the next she was mad and storming off.

“You don’t know?” Lyra asked, skepticism in her voice. She rolled her eyes. “Gosh, can we have one normal day out without something going wrong?”

But what had gone wrong? I didn’t get it. All I had done was ask her a simple quest

    The shed looked like it had been mauled from the inside out. The door was barely hanging by one hinge, the walls were splintered. The minute i saw it, i broke into a run and rushed in.     The shed was filled with the scent of dust and mold. I held Matteo tight in my arms and every time the walls shuddered, I just held him closer.
