LOGINUpon entering the Twyla estate, they made their way to Suki’s suite.
She disappeared into her walk-in wardrobe for a moment and returned just as fast in white jogging bottoms and a black crop top, plucking the hairpins from her head and shaking her shoulder-length hair free.
“Speedy as always,” Reynard said, leaning against her door and crossing his arms.
Suki smirked, “Jealous? I bet I could still beat you in a race like I have since we were kids.”
Arching a brow, he scoffed, “Do you want to test that theory?”
She narrowed her eyes at him and smiled before rolling her eyes. “Ugh, remind me never to sleep in the car ever again,” she whined as she gripped her shoulder and tried to stretch out an ache.
“Feeling tense?” He moved behind her and gripped her shoulders, “Let me help.”
Relaxing her arms, she allowed him to massage the knot out of her neck and shoulders. “Oh, that feels good.” As he pressed his thumbs in firmer and stimulated the knot away into nothing, Suki couldn’t help but exhale a moan of relief. “That’s perfect.”
He pressed his body against her back and hummed, “Careful with those moans, gorgeous.” He kept hold of her shoulders as he brushed his lips against her ear, whispering, “I’m struggling to control myself around you as it is.” He dragged his mouth across her neck.
“Rey…” She tilted her head, exposing her skin for better access.
“Ki…” He gently traced his fingers along the outer band of her trousers. “It’s taking every ounce of me to not slip my fingers beneath this so I can feel you and make you moan for an entirely different reason.”
Suki whimpered, “We… We shouldn’t.” Her mouth said one thing, but her body said another, leaning into him more, feeling against her rear exactly how much he meant what he was saying—how much he truly wanted her.
“You say that,” Rey teased a singular finger under the elastic band of her trousers, brushing along from side to side, “but you’re my mate, Ki. We can give in to our urges.” He plants a kiss on her neck, and again, and again.
Struggling to breathe, heat rose within her. Suki stuttered, “Oh, goddess… Please.”
“Please what?” he asked so softly in her ear as he dragged his finger ever so slightly lower down her trousers.
Her back arched as his fingers moved lower, “Please…”
“Tell me what you want. I’ll bend heaven and Earth to give you what you want.”
“You,” she crooned. “I want to feel your touch.”
As he got closer to her core, Rey groaned, “Anything for you.” Suki gasped as his finger grazed the gentle pool of moisture that had built up at her core. “Fuck,” he groaned, “you don’t realise how long I’ve waited for this.”
She bit her lip and relaxed her body against him entirely, giving into his touch. “Since my birthday,” she whined as Rey stroked his finger across her core, “when we discovered we were mates?”
“No,” he uttered softly, “I’ve wanted to do this to you since I realised I cared for you as more than a friend, when I realised every time we got a little too close to each other, my heart skipped a beat, and when we moved away from each other it broke me a little. This was all way before the bond.” He slowly slid a finger inside her.
Suki moaned, “Oh, Rey.”
He pumped his finger in her slowly and gently, with enough firmness to leave Suki enjoying every movement but desiring more from him at the same time. “The bond just intensified how I’ve always felt about you, Suki.”
“R-Really?”
“Yes,” he said softly, inserting another finger and groaning as he feels her arousal coating his fingers. “You mean everything to me.”
“I felt the same about you.” She breathed, closing her eyes as she felt the strokes of his fingers become more intense. “I’ve loved you for as long as I can remember.”
Reynard growled, “Say that again.” He paused his movement, keeping his fingers still inside her, making her whine in protest, “Say that again and I’ll rip your clothes off right now. I’ll get on my knees and please you all day long.”
Suki turned her head and body enough to look up and lock eyes with him. Almost melting instantly at his gaze, she took in a deep breath and spoke, “I lov—”
“Sukiiiiiiiiiii!” a voice shrilled from afar, pulling the two out of the daze they had fallen into.
A quick gasp escaped her lips as she straightened slightly, “Was that…?”
“Yep,” Rey sighed, not even bothering to hide his annoyance. “I could still make you feel good before Erin gets up here,” he hummed, continuing to finger her slowly.
“Sh-She’ll hear us,” Suki stumbled over her words as she melted away to his touch. Another moan escaped her lips before she slapped her hand over her mouth to muffle herself.
His pace accelerated, becoming even more intense, making it a greater struggle for Suki to fight against her vocal pleasures. “If she knew we were mates, if everyone knew, then she wouldn’t disturb us while I make you squirm for more.”
Biting her lip, she pulled her hand away and tried to gather her reasonable thoughts, even though she wanted to crumble and beg for more. She bleated, “Please… She can’t know, no one can.”
Rey stopped and pulled his hand away from her core. Suki whined as he retreated, wishing they didn’t have to stop, but exhaled a sigh of relief for him respecting her wishes. He hummed, “If I had more time alone with you, I would’ve made you feel good in so many other ways and not just with my fingers.”
She tittered, “Oh, yeah?”
“Yes… I would start by making you feel good with my fingers, then eventually move over to tasting all that arousal of yours with my tongue.” He presented his two fingers in front of her. “I was going to wait until I could get my tongue inside you, but I don’t think I can,” he said before licking his fingers clean.
Inhaling a gasp, Suki watched him in awe and imagined what it would feel like to have his head between her legs and—
“SUUUUUKIIIIII!” Erin’s voice was still from afar, but louder—heading towards her.
Suki snapped herself to reality, shaking her head to throw the feral thoughts out of her mind. “You should go.”
Rey chuckled, “Wouldn’t it be more suspicious if I suddenly left as Erin arrives?”
“Good point. Get on the bed.”
He raised a brow.
“I mean, like, make yourself comfortable or something!” She hit his arm as he continued laughing, before trying to make her room look more presentable and like she and her best friend had been hanging out, instead of fooling around.
Slowly, Rey’s laughing came to a stop. “The reason you’re not telling anyone we’re mates, it’s not because I’m a Gamma wolf, is it?”
Suki swerved around to face him, “No! Not at all,” she held his face, “Rey, I would never think that shallow, especially about you.”
He held her waist gently. “Really?” he asked in a way that barely sounded like a question and was almost monotonous.
“Really,” she said sternly, wrapping her arms around his neck and pulling herself closer to him. “Please never think that again, I swear I’m not behaving like this to hurt you.”
“So, it’s because of him.” His grip on her waist tightened.
She swallowed thickly, “It’s complicated, the pull I have with you, I have it with him too. I just… I need time to work things out.”
Rey held her chin and looked deep into her eyes, “Your happiness is all that matters to me. If time is what you need, I’ll give you all the time you need.”
The pull they shared was, in fact, so strong that Suki didn’t even realise she was leaning in closer and closer to him, and Rey did the same, both leaning in slowly, both desiring for their lips to meet.
The following day, Suki awoke with a warm and hopeful feeling in her chest. Her father had truly listened to her. He heard everything she had to say and agreed to her request of getting to know Brendan more before making her choice for her mate. It was almost too good to be true. Last night, when father and daughter parted ways from Brendan, Machiavelli promised his daughter that he would do better to be more in her life and spend time with her just as she desired for as long as she could remember, and they would start by having breakfast together. She didn’t have high hopes that it would stick, but she appreciated the thought. After freshening herself up and getting dressed for the day, Suki rushed downstairs with a huge grin on her face. Upon entering the dining room, her smile faltered ever so slightly as she locked eyes with Reynard, sitting in his usual seat – found right next to hers – on the dining table. “Rey? What are you doing here?” asked Suki as she walked into the room
Brendan held himself tall, refusing to look weak in a moment that was shattering him from within. He looked Suki in the eyes and exhaled, “It’s alright, you can do it. I understand.” “Quiet, boy,” Machiavelli spat, “don’t act like some hero to her. You broke the rules. Now, Suki–” “No,” Suki said calmly. “Suki, don’t argue with me.” “You can’t make me reject him; that power isn’t within your hands, it’s in mine and my mates.”Her father frowned. “Dearest, you need to think wisely about this. If you choose to bond with him, you’ll become a Rogue. By default, his rules would’ve been broken, and that means neither of you can stay in the pack. I’d never see you again.” She wept, “You never see me now.” Her words silenced her father. “Dad, I love you, you’re my only family, but ever since Mum died, you’ve been more and more distant with me.” He swallowed. “I’ve been busy with–” “Everything,” she interrupted. “You’re the Beta, I know and respect that. After her death, you buried your
The air around her became thick, cold and unbreathable. Suki looked at her father, wide-eyed, mirroring his shocked expression as he saw who was with his daughter. Looking up at Brendan, his eyes were the only window to show his fear, but his body screamed protective, holding her close even though she wasn’t the one in danger. She was far from it. She examined Brendan; the small essence of his shadow magic was no longer hovering around him. Whatever he had released before must’ve been accidental. He wasn’t shielding himself from her father’s vision, and it was too late to do it now. He had been seen, and they had been caught. Her gaze shifted between the two repeatedly, feeling the tension build more and more, to the point where it felt almost suffocating. Suki stepped back from Brendan and tried to hold herself tall. Her breathing became jagged as she spoke, “Father, please, I can expla–”Machiavelli flashed towards them and hurled Brendan away from Suki and off the front porch, t
Reynard put his hand on Suki’s shoulder and spoke softly to calm her, “Let me take you home. If I run into your father on my way home, maybe I can sweet-talk him into being nicer to you.” “Aw, what a hero,” Brendan teased. Rey was ready to clap back with a retort before his phone began beeping. He looked at the messages and sighed, “There’s an urgent meeting I need to get to, which probably explains why your father is so stressed about your location.” Suki cringed, “Oh, he’s going to murder me.” “Nonsense, love,” Brendan wrapped his arm around her, “your father loves you and only wants to protect you like the precious little diamond you are.” She giggled and rolled her eyes. “Can you take her home?” Reynard asked Brendan. “I don’t know what this meeting is about, but I don’t want to put her at risk if the threat against the pack has gotten worse.” Brendan nodded once. “Of course, are you alright with that, love?” “Of course, we just need to get there before my father does. I d
The energy in the room shifted as it filled with chilling silence. A weighted sensation plunged Suki’s chest as her mind spiralled.“Please, say something.” Brendan stepped towards her. Suki retreated a step, almost moving into Rey. “I smelt a human when we were on our date, and you looked at me like you’d seen a ghost… This was why, because you think I was right. Do you think they’re back to hurt more werewolves?” He swallowed thickly, “I don’t know… I wish I knew, I truly did.” “This all can’t be a coincidence; the attack on Nighttide, you ending up here, our mate bond. All that has happened between the three of us, whilst a threat grows against the werewolf species? This has to be it, the humans are back!” “Wait,” Reynard finally broke his silence, “we need to take a step back for a moment. Humans broke into your pack–?”“Former pack,” Brendan corrected. He sighed, “Right. Humans broke into your former back and killed and kidnapped families.” A nod. “How is that possible? Hu
Brendan stood, holding his hands up in defence.“What did you do to her?” “I didn’t hurt her, I swear.” “Didn’t hurt her? Then why did I suddenly feel a wave of emotions from her? Fear and pain most of all. I even heard an echo of a cry for help.” Reynard hissed at him and paced over to Suki. “Ki, what happened?”“Please…” she spoke weakly, shaking her head. “Don’t be mad at him. He just wanted to talk to me privately.”“About what?” She turned her head slightly to avoid eye contact. Her eyes flickered shut for just a moment, but when her eyes reopened, she glanced over to Brendan. Concerned by her expression, Reynard looked back at Brendan and snarled, “What secret is she hiding for you?” Brendan swallowed thickly, hesitant to reveal the truth that was still all so new to him, too. Annoyed, Rey stood, grabbing Brendan by his shirt and pinning him against the wall. “Look at her, Brendan,” he growled. “She’s in pain. What happened?” “She was helping me,” he admitted. Suki squea
