“What?” She grabbed his arm as he tried to move to examine the rooms again, stopping him.

“Love,” he growled lightly. “We don’t have time. I promised that I’d make sure you’re safe.” He yanked his arm from her grip and rushed up the stairs, ensuring that each room was secure, too.

Suki rushed to follow him as quickly as she could, but without her wolf-speed, she was constantly struggling to keep up.

The final room he checked was her bedroom. He closed the window and locked it, turning around
