Kendall’s POV

When I finally regained my senses, I found myself cradled in Margaret’s arms, her concerned gaze searching mine for signs of life. Relief flooded through me as I realized I was safe, thanks to her timely intervention.

“I’m so sorry, Kendall,” Margaret said, her voice laced with worry. “I should have warned you about the pool. Are you alright?”

I nodded weakly, still shaking from the ordeal. “I… I think so,” I managed to choke out, my voice hoarse with fear. “Thank you, Margaret. You saved my life. Again.”

Margaret smiled, her eyes soft with understanding. “It’s alright, dear. You’re safe now. But perhaps it’s best if we avoid the pool for now.”

I nodded in agreement, the memory of my near-drowning still fresh in my mind. Though the water had seemed harmless from a distance, I now knew better than to underestimate its power.
