Veronica’s POV
The sun shone through my window, and tiredness was unable to take me to dreamland. Making my way to my feet I made my way downstairs, searching for the kitchen. After a few minutes of searching, I finally found it. Opening the fridge, I saw the luxury of food displayed. With a deep breath, I grabbed some of the food and started making breakfast. I needed to show the Alpha that I was not a useless mutt.
The smell of bacon and eggs filled the kitchen air, as the music echoed. I danced as I made food. As I turned around to place the pan of bacon on the table I was startled when I saw Logan standing behind me. The pan dropped to the ground and the bacon and its oils splattered all over the floor. Some even fell onto my skin, giving me burn wounds.
“Shit! Are you all right?”
“I’m-“ I bend down to quickly clean up the mess that I had made. But, sadly my eyes started to get watery.
“Hey.”
“I’m so sorry Alpha. I promise to clean the mess.”
“Hey! Stop!” He grabbed my hands holding them in his. I kept my gaze on the floor, looking at the bacon. “Little one, look at me.” I shook my head, unable to face him. I didn’t want him to see the tears that filled my eyes. “Hey. Please. Look at me.”
I slowly looked up and our eyes met, “I’m really sorry. Please don’t punish me.”
“Punish you? Why would…” He turned silent then let out a sigh. He then helped me to my feet.
“What happened? Is everything alright?” Henry came rushing into the kitchen.
“Everything is fine. Just hand me the first aid kit and please clean this up.”
“Of course Sir.” He grabbed the first aid and handed it to Logan. Logan then led me out of the kitchen to my room.

Logan gestured for me to sit on the bed, and then he started treating the small oil burns. My eyes were fixed on his silky smooth black hair. He was so soft and tender with me. With every pat of the cotton ball, I didn’t feel any pain. A small smile appeared on my face, then he stopped and my smile quickly vanished.
“There. All patched up.” He looked up and our eyes met only for a second. I turned my attention away and didn’t say a word. “I was wondering if you would want to go to town. Maybe buy yourself something else to wear?” He said while making his way to his feet.
I shook my head in disagreement. I didn’t want him to send any money on me. I didn’t deserve to have anything new, what to say about new clothes.
“Why not? Wouldn’t you want someone that is not your working clothes to wear?”
“No.” I said blankly. His eyes widened by my response, “I mean, um… No, thank you.”
“Mm. If you wish. Then I will let you be.” He turned around but stopped in the doorway, “You know I’m not how everyone says I am. I want you to feel safe and protected.”
I wanted to believe his words but I couldn’t. His reputation has been around for years, he has never been kind to anyone. Why would he want to be towards me? How he is acting doesn’t make any sense. I can’t let my guard down, I can’t be how I was when I was back home. Believing every word that has been said to me. No one will ever treat me with kindness, I was a useless mutt.
Before I could stop it, a tear rolled down my cheek. He stepped closer, but I moved back on my bed away from him, “Little one, I…” I quickly wiped the tear away then rushed to the bathroom and closed the door.
Curling into a little ball on the bathroom floor, I couldn’t contain my tears anymore. As I wiped away more came pouring out. My nose started to get stuffed and it got difficult to breathe. Then I reached for the toilet paper but was startled by the knock on the door.
“Veronica. Open the door.” I placed my hand over my mouth so that he couldn’t hear me crying. “Please. Please just open the door. If it was something I said, I’m sorry.”
I gathered the courage to speak, “Please just leave me alone!”
“But-“
“Please!” Then my words turned to whispers, “Just leave.”
Veronica’s POVI watched as Logan walked away. My fingers nervously tapped on my lap, trying to calm myself, trying not to feel nervous and anxious. The thought of being in a place like this, it felt wrong, I felt so exposed. The chandeliers that cast a golden light that felt too warm, too suffocating. My heart started pounding as my eyes scanned around the room. I could feel the judgemental stares from some of the people here. The way they whispered behind their hands. I knew their whispers were about me, a rogue, an outsider. Someone who wasn’t worthy of being with the Alpha. And no matter how hard I tried to push it aside, to ignore them as I was told by Logan, I could help but feel like I didn’t belong here.Logan’s words played in the back of my mind, ‘You belong here. With me.’ But no matter how much I wanted to believe it, my mind didn’t allow me to. I was starting to feel like I was standing on the edge of something fragile, ready to break at any moment. Suddenly, the chair ac
Logan’s POVI stood at the bottom of the stairs, the whispers of my pack surrounded me like a background noise. Normally, I wouldn’t be fazed by their presence, but tonight was different. My focus was on her, and only her. Tonight was the night that I would show her what she meant to me, this wasn’t just any normal night out. She belonged here, belonged here with me. By my side as my Luna, no matter what anyone thought. The second I sent that dress to her room, I knew she would look stunning in it. There was no doubt about that. I knew Veronica was still trying to figure out who she was, still clinging to her past that had her scarred. But the woman I saw wasn’t a rogue, wasn’t someone broken. She was powerful, fierce, and despite everything she’d been through, there was something that made her… Mine.My wolf growled in approval as I saw her descending from the stairs. Her heels clicked against the floor. It was like my breathing had stopped, my heart pounded intensely as she was now
Veronica’s POVReaching the hallway leading to my room, my thoughts were still focused on the events of that day. But something was different… I was different. Everything that I saw, I saw differently, every sound, then I pushed open the door leading to my room, a strange sight greeted me. A black dress laid carefully on my bed, next to it was a note with beautiful, elegant handwriting.I slowly made my way closer to it, picking up the note, then I started reading: “I’m proud of you. Wear this tonight. I can’t wait to see you. - Logan”My heart skipped a beat as I read the note. His way of stating this always makes me fluster. His powerful, commanding tone. It made the note feel more personal than it should be. But the idea of him being proud of me, no one had ever been proud of me except for my mom. I set the note down and turned my attention to the dress. It was stunning. The fabric shimmered under the light that shone through the window. Picking up the dress, I made my way over t
Veronica’s POVAfter breakfast I made my way to the training grounds where Grace was waiting for me. My emotions were all over the place, I have never shifted into my wolf form. Anticipation and nerves were swirling in my stomach. The sun had made its way out of the clouds making the ground heat up and allowing the heat to attack my face. The sound of warriors sparring in the distance. The air smelled of earth and sweat, the smell of hard work. Grace stood on one of the platforms, her expression was serious, but I could see a hint of excitement. “Are you ready?” She asked as I approached her.Taking a big breath then nodded, “Do I have a choice?”She giggled slightly, then motioned for me to climb onto the platform. The space was made sure that no one can hurt one another when practising. There was a big tree casting a shadow over us. “Okay. So, turning into a wolf can be very overwhelming. Especially when it is your first time. With time it gets easier, but the first transition is c
Veronica’s POVThe sunlight slowly shone through the curtains, waking me up gently. I stretched, feeling that Logan was still lying close beside me, and I smiled. I sat upright, then quietly made my way to the bathroom. My muscles were sore in the best way, a reminder of the intense and wonderful night we had shared. It didn’t feel real, it felt like it was a dream that I was about to wake up from. I turned on the shower allowing the water to heat up. As the water warmed up, I caught a glimpse of myself in the mirror, my hair was a mess. And the thought of Logan’s touch made my skin tingle once more. I traced my finger over my collarbone, remembering the way his lips moved over my body. Stepping into the shower, allowing the hot water to flow over me. The steam of the water covered the bathroom, making it difficult to see. Then I heard the door of the shower open and I turned around to find Logan standing in the doorway. Naked. “Is there space for one more?” He asked with a grin th
Veronica’s POVI stood there, barely able to breathe as Logan’s thumb brushed against my cheek. His touch, it was warm and comforting, gentle, shockwaves flowed through my body. My heart raced rapidly, making me warm up. If it wasn’t for the cold night breeze blowing through the open window I think I might pass out. “Logan.” I whispered, trying to find words. The pull between us, what was happening? It was like I wanted him, but I was afraid. It felt like the entire world was standing still but our breaths were indicating that it wasn’t.His eyes still locked with mine, I was both terrified and excited. With every encounter that we had, the pull hadn’t been so intense as it is now. I wanted and needed him, and I needed him now more than ever. “Everything… It… Feels different. I can’t stop feeling you. Your heartbeat, your breathing. When you’re not here it feels like you are.” I admitted, my gaze fell to his lips. His right hand fell to my waist, and his other hand still cupped my f
