Naomi’s POV

She didn’t answer. But the silence said enough.

“He wouldn’t do that,” I said, heat rising to my face. “He wouldn’t betray anyone like that. He’s… he’s loyal. How could you think of such a thing? He helped to check out what had happened!”

“Loyalty is often the perfect cover,” Lyra said. “We’re not accusing him. But questions are being asked. And people talk. Especially after seeing him disappear from the hallways right before the alarms. And also, he left you, didn't he?”

I remembered. Logan had been called by an Alpha, so he had to go check out what was up. I hadn’t questioned it.

Until now. Now, I want to see Logan and ask him what had happened. What he and the elder discussed later that day.

Lyra moved to the door. “Keep your eyes open. If you hear or see anything strange, tell someone. Even if it feels like nothing.”
