“This isn’t about the pictures.”

“Then what is it about?” I demanded. “Because I care about him? Because we kissed?”

“Because the world is watching,” he said. “And because you are not just a boy in love. You are a prince. And princes have responsibilities.”

“I have spent my whole life pretending,” I said. “I smiled when I wanted to scream. I went to events I hated. I kept my mouth shut even when everything inside me was dying.”

“And now you have invited scandal into this palace.”

“I didn’t invite anything. We were followed.”

The king stood slowly. “The damage is done. The press is already tearing this family apart. But that, I can fix.”

I narrowed my eyes. “How?”
