Part 1: Chapter 48

Nikolai

Kai and I had just cleaned out the cabin when we spotted the hulking figure of Vladimir pacing the spot where he and Kai fought. He’s come to meet with Kai about something but wouldn’t tell him what it was.

“Are you sure about this?” I ask Kai when we approach, and he nods.

“Use your nose, little brother, and tell me what you smell,” he says, his eyes flashing red.

I calm my mind and focus on the scent Vladimir is emitting, or rather, trying not to. The fucking intimidation is there, but he’s using it to mask everything else, and when I really focus, I can smell it.

“Fuck, it smells like rotting meat and heroin; not to mention the fear and anxiety,” I say in disbelief and finally believe Kai’s words. This wolf is a fucking goner; there’s nothing left in him but his overpowering intimidation.

Kai smiles and nods. “Exactly; he’s no fucking match for me,” he says. Vladimir looks up at us and immediately lets out a low growl with his eyes flashing double crimson irises.
