Part 2: Chapter 31

It feels like my head is being held underwater, and yet I am breathing. I can hear voices above me, but I can’t understand what is being said… The last thing I remember is seeing Dimitri’s mournful eyes looking down at me.

How long have I been lying on this cold floor? It feels like I’ve been asleep while hearing these voices above me for a long time.

“Arya…” I hear my name being called somewhere in the distance and sit up way too quickly. My head is pounding, and I can’t see anything in front of me; however, I’ve been spelunking before and know exactly where I am.

My eyes adjust to the darkness, and I take in my surroundings in the cave. I can hear the faint sound of water trickling somewhere as well, but the sound of my breathing echoes around the cave. Where the hell am I, and how did I get here?

I can see ancient markings on the walls, drawings of fearsome beasts, men with sharp spears, and words written in an ancient script. “Xamnir,” I read the only word in English and run
