Jack's first love, Alice, came in for her prenatal checkup. Tested positive for Corrosion Sickness. I told him right away. But Jack insisted I was spouting nonsense and went around the pack slandering me—claiming I had no medical ethics, that my surgical skills were a joke, and that I’d killed a fellow werewolf through malpractice. Because of him, the Werewolf Medical Association revoked my healer title, and I was nearly torn apart by the patient’s furious family! On our third mating anniversary, Jack sank silver into my veins. I begged him to save me, but he locked me in a cellar and left me there to die. "Just die already," he said. "I need your estate to have marking ceremony with Alice." The next second, I opened my eyes—I wasn’t dead. I was reborn! I was reborn on the day Alice came in for her prenatal checkup! This time, I won’t tell him the truth. I’m leaving that scumbag behind! Let him and Alice enjoy their filthy love!

Chapter 1

"Sophia? Sophia! What were you gonna say? You totally zoned out!"

Jack's voice yanked me back. He'd just pulled up in front of Moonshade Medical Center, frowning.

And that's when it hit me—

I'd been reborn.

In my last life, the second he dropped me off, I told him: Alice had Corrosion Sickness.

This is the AIDS virus of our werewolf kind. Passed through blood, intimate relations, or from mother to pup. Shreds your immune system. Eats your wolf alive. No cure. No healing. Just a slow, brutal countdown to death.

Currently, within the werewolf medical system, there is no cure for this disease.

Jack lost it. Thought I was just jealous of his friendship with Alice.

Even though I already told him that I was the one who personally performed Alice's prenatal exam, he still didn't believe me.

During the hospital prenatal examination, Alice specifically requested that I handle her prenatal exam. She stroked her slightly swollen belly as if showing off.

Then her bloodwork hit my desk.

Looking at the blood report data, I knew Alice had contracted Corrosion Sickness.

"Sophia, did you see my pup? Doesn't it look just like Jack? He is the father, after all!"

My skull throbbed. I swallowed the claws itching under my skin and forced my voice steady.

"Did you have any other infectious disease history that you forget to mention??"

Alice went ghost-pale, then shot to her feet. She questioned me why I asked her that.

"I just overate! And now you're accusing me of hiding a disease? This how you treat a she-wolf carrying pup? I thought we were friends!"

She exploded, loud enough to draw a crowd. Started shouting about malpractice.

If a nurse hadn't stepped in, she would've shredded my face.

I tried to calm her—I was afraid that if she accidentally bumped into something and bled, she might infect other pregnant women and the doctors.

But from the way she lashed out?

But from Alice's reaction, I knew she was fully aware that she was infected with Corrosion Sickness.

I took emergency leave and ran home.

Begged Jack to drive me back to the clinic. Lied through my teeth just to get him near the doors.

Even though he knew my intention was to get him to do a blood test, he still couldn't refuse me because of the crowd, hoping he would quickly take the medicine to prevent the progression of Corrosion Sickness.

I just needed him on antivirals. Fast.

But the second we parked, I hurriedly told him everything about Alice's illness, urging him to get a blood test as well

Jack slapped me. Hard.

His eyes flared with fury.

"Alice and I are just close friends! You don't trust me? Now you're cursing her too? You're disgusting—she's carrying pup!"

My cheek stung. My heart cracked.

"Alice told me. Corrosion's contagious. Please—get tested."

I didn't care about pride. Didn't care who was watching.

I grabbed his arm and tried to drag him in.

People stopped. Stared.

Jack's face darkened.

"Let go," he growled.

My mind blanked. My wolf wouldn't obey.

I wasn't trying to expose his affair.

I just wanted him safe. Uninfected. Still the warrior I believed in.

Back then, I thought I was protecting him.

I used to only think about what was best for him, but now I've learned to let go.

Let Jack and his beloved choke on their twisted excuse for love.

Chapter 2
"It's nothing, Jack. Just wanted to say I handled Alice's prenatal exam today. The pup's healthy," I said. "Work's a mess. I won't be home the next few days."Jack grinned like he was already out hunting in the forest with their pup strapped to his chest.I waited a beat, then called his name again, playing it casual."Huh? Oh, no problem, Sophia. Focus on work."He leaned against the window, hand over his mouth, but the smug little smile creeping across his face gave him away.A she-wolf passed with a stroller. The pup inside squealed, waving tiny hands.Jack ducked his head, trying to hide the joy bubbling up. Fingers tapped the wheel like he was holding back a howl.My stomach twisted. He was high off the affair and the fantasy of fatherhood. Didn't even flinch at my lame excuse. But Jack might already be infected with Corrosion Sickness.I had to get tested. Now.Because I had someone to protect too.I was carrying a pup.I was gonna tell him on his birthday. Not anymore. He alread

Tears blurred the page, dripping onto the words as I wrote. The pain chewed through me, slow and merciless.I thought back to my last life. After I begged Jack to get tested, he packed up and walked out.Said he couldn't live with someone "so cruel."Then he vanished. No calls. No link. Nothing.I searched everywhere—Silvermoon Guard base, every place he might hide. But I never saw him again. The link stayed dead. There was no way to persuade him to go to the hospital for a check-up.Just me, counting the days, crushed by dread.I couldn't stomach the idea of him catching something so lethal.Corrosion Sickness didn't just kill—it tortured. One day, a friend noticed how wrecked I was. She didn't say anything. Show me the video of Alice and Jack on their date. The sight of their happiness and joy pierced my heart.I knew he was with her. Always had.But deep down, I'd been lying to myself.Because I loved him.And part of me wanted to believe this was all just a mistake—that he'd come

Chapter 4
I submitted the proof of Jack's betrayal to the Elders' Council and demanded a formal hearing to sever our mate bond. Then, outside the hospital—I ran into him.Jack. With Alice. The second he saw me, he dropped her hand like it burned."Sophia... shouldn't you be at work? Alice wasn't feeling well, so I brought her in—just to be safe.""I'm not blaming you, Jack," I said calmly. "Alice is our friend. She hasn't found her mate yet, and she's carrying pup. Of course she needs care."Jack's face softened. He even looked... grateful. He stepped forward, arms open, like we were still something.Tried to kiss me.I blocked him with my hand, keeping the disgust off my face. Before, if Jack had shown me affection in front of Alice, I would've melted. Maybe even felt proud. Now?All I felt was fear—fear he might still be infected.I sent them off and rushed to my office, scrubbing my hands raw until the smell of them was gone.Just when I thought I could breathe again, Alice stormed in."You t

Jack hovered at the door before finally pushing it open—then nearly stumbled back when he saw her."Alice? You've got Corrosion Sickness?! Since when?"Her eyes shot wide. Panic. She grabbed his arm fast."No, no, you've got it wrong. I was asking for a friend. He couldn't find anything online, so I figured I'd ask a healer directly."Jack exhaled, all relieved. Took her hand like nothing happened."Then ask Sophia. She's a healer too."Alice gave him that sugar-sweet nod.I smiled, shook my head.'Girl's got no shame.'She locked eyes with me, and Jack finally noticed I was there. He pulled her into some weak-ass hug."Sophia, since you've made your choice, I'll be straight. Alice is carrying my pup. Let's go to the Elders and break the bond."Alice ripped away from him, horrified."No! You can't! I didn't come here to wreck anything—Jack, don't make me the bad guy! I just wanted a pup. I didn't mean to ruin what you two had..."I laughed. Out loud. Couldn't help it.'Sh

In my past life, he killed me. That pain? That fury? Still claws into my dreams every damn night. For a few days, my phone stayed quiet. I figured Jack had finally backed off. Thought I'd get to breathe easy until the Elders' Council hearing. Then he showed up at my hotel.Dressed like staff, he shoved me into the wall the second I cracked the door.My back lit up in pain as he stormed in, ripping through the place like a rabid wolf—tossed open drawers, upended my suitcase."Done snooping?" I said. "Good. Now get the hell out.""What are you doing holed up in a hotel like this?! Where is he?! I can't believe you masked his scent! I'm not leaving till he shows!"He swung at the table—my thermos flew. Soup exploded across his leg.Yelping, he bolted to the bathroom and cranked the cold water."You might wanna get that checked at the hospital," I called. "While you're there, maybe run a blood screen."He cut the water. Turned slowly, glaring like I'd stabbed him."I came here t

Chapter 7
I hit the OR early, slid my phone into a hidden nook.Last time, Darren had cried like a scared pup before going under. I held his hand. Comforted him. Stupid. This time, I scanned every inch, burned into memory how my own colleagues turned on me in court.Checked the tools. Then the corners.Found it.Filthy rag, crammed under the table, stinking of setup.Slipped it in my pocket. When the other healers and assistants strolled in to prep, I stayed cool, gave them a nod.Said I forgot something. Took the rag straight to my office, locked it away.Scrubbed back in. Reset.Same damn faces. Same traitors.I locked in—no drifting into courtroom flashbacks. This time, I stayed till the bitter end. No early exits. Not even mine.Last time? I was wrecked—pregnant, exhausted. Left before the final stitch. Let someone else close.Didn't know they were all Jack's puppets.Looking at those wolves I'd fought beside, all I felt was ice.Spent more time with them than with Jack. Thoug

Chapter 8
While the Enforcers worked the crowd, questioning wolves one by one, I spotted Alice. Eyes darting, scanning faces—searching.Jack hovered near Darren's family, fake-sobbing into a tissue while sneaking frantic looks around.Their eyes met. Brief, sharp. Then they split, fanning out."My deepest condolences," Jack said smoothly, handing Darren's widow his card."The Healers' Council will make sure the one responsible pays—with their head if needed," he said.Once the Enforcers wrapped up the first sweep, they hauled the key players to the station.I followed, calm and steady—until Alice spun around, jabbing a finger at me."It was her!" she shrieked. "She always bragged about being the best healer in the pack! That title had to be bought! Anyone who screws up a basic stitch and kills a wolf deserves to pay. Off with her head!"Jack piled on, voice cold as ice. "Sophia, I'll burn every favor I've got to take you down. Silence won't save you. Rot in prison. Repent."An Enforcer

Alice strutted down the aisle like the pack owed her applause, bouquet clutched tight, soaking in every stare.Jack grabbed her hand and kissed it.The Moon Priest joined their hands. They locked eyes, started reciting vows under the Moon Goddess. Then Alice cut in.She reached up, brushed Jack's cheek. The crowd leaned forward—half expecting a gender reveal, half bracing for drama."Jack, we just vowed everything. From now on, I'm yours. I need to tell you something—I'm sick. Might need meds forever. Will you take care of me?"Jack nodded like a wolf on the edge, eyes wet, crushing her into his arms."You, Alice... you're everything. What is it? I'll protect you—always."She dabbed at fake tears, shot me a smug look from the stage, kissed his cheek like she'd already won. Then, all serious:"I have Corrosion Sickness...""What? You've got Corrosion Sickness?" Jack's voice cracked. "No—no, Alice, this isn't some sick joke!"He yanked his hand back like her skin burned him.

Chapter 10
Alice lost the pup—and the healers said she'd never carry again.Jack went straight to the Enforcers, claiming Alice had infected him on purpose. Then he stormed the Elders' Council, demanding a forced rejection and payout. It was like Jack had finally found the perfect excuse. He kept trying to rope me in, whining about revenge, begging me to help him bleed Alice dry.I shut him out—and gave the Elders the real story.Turns out, Jack had paid rogue wolves to fake his war-hero image in the Silvermoon Guard. The Elders didn't even get to vote. The Enforcers cuffed him on the spot. Locked away, finally.I visited Alice. She thought I came to gloat. But once I told her what Jack had done, she just... shut down.Days later, she handed me the final proof I needed to bury him. That sealed it.When I copied the video from the car, I caught him meeting a masked rogue. That's when I knew—Jack's whole image was smoke and mirrors.Still, I hadn't nailed down the proof—until now.Credi
