CYRIL’S POV

I sat at the head of the glass table, the afternoon light spewing through the floor-to-ceiling windows at the corner of the conference room.

My eyes darted away from the window to scan each man in front of me like a predator looking to pick which one to gut first.

“So all this is a visual display of how the stock market is going?” I leaned forward, my hands tangled together.

“Yeah,” Aaron said, nodding, with his eyes still locked on the screen. “However, you can see here…” He pointed at a jagged red line diving straight down. “Things are not looking good but it’s not that bad.”

“Not that bad?” I snorted, my voice echoing across the room. “Don’t fuck with me, brother!”

My chosen brother had travelled all the way down from Russia at my request so we could strategize and cut the snake’s head once and for all.

He chuckled nervously, rubbing his jaw. “Okay, fine it’s bad. But it’s something we can still fix.”

“Of course,” I said, leaning back in my chair exhaling slowly.

  • Breaking Daddy's Rules   168: Stay Awake. Stay Awake.

RAINE’S POVI blinked my eyes open slowly, feeling the now-too-familiar weight settle into my limbs. It was that heavy, sinking feeling like my body had been dipped in syrup. My mind, though groggy, was starting to put the pieces together. This wasn’t just exhaustion. It wasn’t grief or burnout either. Something was wrong—seriously wrong.Every time I ate, I got knocked out like a freaking baby. At first, I thought it was stress or my body trying to cope with everything, but today? Today I realized it had to be more than that.Talon was definitely drugging me.The thought was enough to make my stomach churn. I shifted on the sofa, staring across the room. Talon had come down earlier, dressed in black slacks and a white button-down, looking like a polished gentleman who couldn’t hurt a fly. Casually, he’d sat beside me, gently feeding me eggs and toast, brushing my hair back like he was doing me a favor. Then, as always, I started to doze off halfway through the meal. My head dropped

  • Breaking Daddy's Rules   167: Told You Not To Cross That Line

CYRIL’S POVI paced the living room like a caged lion, I hadn’t slept in two days. My eyes were burning, but that didn’t matter right now. Every second that passed without Raine’s voice made my blood boil hotter. There was still no positive update about her and it was killing me. I had all these clues that led nowhere, at least for now it hasn’t. My phone buzzed on the table, I stopped pacing and slowly headed towards it. A sliver of hope stirred in my chest as I swiped the call and held it to my ear. It was Aaron. “Speak.”“We’ve got confirmation. The Russian government is backing us now.” His bubbly voice came through and I knew this had to do with the election we had been discussing for years.I didn’t respond right away. My mind was still half in the gutter, thinking of Raine. But I pushed that back for a minute. “So they’re ready to move?” “They are,” he said. “Once we lock in our people for this next election, the presidential seat’s ours. We sweep the foundation first: gove

  • Breaking Daddy's Rules   166: I Ruined Everything

RAINE’S POVMy eyes widened as the screen flickered, then cut to a video of Indie sitting in front of a camera. Her face looked pale, makeup lighter than usual. Her lips trembled like she’d just finished crying or was about to start again. Talon stood off to the side, not even watching the screen. His eyes were locked on me.I sucked in a shaky breath as I watched it all play out. My mom looked straight into the camera, and I felt like she was staring directly into my soul.“If my daughter ever sees this…” Her voice cracked, and she looked down for a moment. “I want her to know. I’m sorry. For everything. For the pressure. For what I did to her. I thought I was protecting her, but really, I was protecting myself.”My throat burned. My fingers curled tightly into the throw pillow on my lap. I didn’t want to cry, so I swallowed back my sob. “She was always good, kind and strong. But I was too selfish to see that. I thought I knew what was best. I didn’t—I ruined everything.” She conti

  • Breaking Daddy's Rules   165: Because You Deserve To Know

RAINE’S POVAt some point, I must have dozed off again. I didn’t mean to, but I woke up with that hazy feeling like my body wasn’t fully mine. Every time I ate, I just drifted. My eyelids would get so heavy, and the next thing I knew, hours had passed. I struggled to sit up while my eyes adjusted. The dim artificial lights were reflecting soft yellow hues on the cream walls. The room was so silent making the sound of my breathing more amplified than normal, but that didn’t matter. What bothered me was my sleeping pattern and the exhaustion that came with it. ‘That’s not normal.’ I thought to myself. Before the thought settled in, the door opened, and Talon walked in with a small cloth in his hand. His face was hard to read, like always. He crouched next to me, and began wiping my hands gently, then moved up to dab at my cheeks and forehead, like I was a little girl.“It’s too cold out here for a bath,” he said quietly.I nodded. “Okay.”I reached for the cloth. “Can I?”He hesitat

  • Breaking Daddy's Rules   164: Very Risky Move.

CYRIL’S POV I woke up with an ache in my neck and my head was pounding so bad. I’d passed out on the couch last night, my boots still on, and my jacket half off. Light streamed in through the window, and it was too bright for how I felt inside. I sat up slowly, running a hand through my hair, my phone was vibrating nonstop on the table beside me. When I picked it up, there were missed calls, texts and notifications piled in like the world had gone to hell overnight. My hands hovered over Kyle's contact, he’d called me the most. The minute I hit redial he picked up. “You were right,” he sounded antsy. “I see Harken all over this. That video? It spread too fast, too strategically.” “What’s in the video?” I asked. I haven’t seen the video. Even though it was the most talked about thing on the internet after Indie’s note. “Nothing useful,” he muttered, capturing my attention. “Just Indie, wrecked. She couldn’t stand herself for what she did to her daughter. She didn’t even say Raine

  • Breaking Daddy's Rules   163: I’m The Worst Mother.

CYRIL’S POV I watched the car pull away from the driveway, Zayne in the back seat, his face barely visible through the tinted window. For a moment, I thought he was looking back at me, like he wanted to say something but didn’t know how. I didn’t wave. I just stood there, until the taillights disappeared into the street. The second the gate shut behind them, I turned and went back into the villa. The rooms were so still, my ears rang. The TV was off, the lights dimmed, but my reflection still flickered on the black screen. I stared at my blood shot eyes, pulling away when my phone rang. It was Aaron, and when I answered the call, his voice buzzed in my ear. It sounded distant at first, like he was speaking underwater. It was just noise; meaningless noise until one sentence cut through my thoughts. “Yeah, I’ll be gone for a few days,” he said casually. My hand tightened around the phone.“You’ll what?”There was a pause on the other end. “I said I’ll be back in a few days. I need t
