Chapter 21| Inner Wolf

Astrid/ Veronica's POV

I ran as fast as I could. As I opened the door, the face of Beta Ivan was the first thing I saw. His serious face quickly shifted to a worried one as he looked at me intently.

"What happened?" he asked in a worried voice.

I sobbed as I stared at his ocean blue eyes. I really didn't know why he was so kind toward me. It made me confused sometimes. These mixed signals choke me sometimes.

I didn't want to assume, but his actions were quite weird and suspicious.

I wiped away my tears, but still, I failed to stop myself from crying.

He was about to approach me but stopped when we heard the voice of Alpha Vincent inside his chamber.

"Beta Ivan..." he called.

I didn't want the Alpha to see me in this kind of state. I didn't want him to see me as pitiful. I was genuinely glad that he was already fine. But seeing him with another woman literally broke my heart.

Without further ado, I ran away.

Beta Ivan attempted to follow me, but he stopped himself when the Alpha calle
