19: Strange Symptoms

Sarah's pov

Sunday morning I woke up feeling different. Not sick exactly but off in ways I couldn't pinpoint. My body felt too tight for my skin and every sound seemed amplified to the point where I could hear my neighbor's television through the wall like it was in my own room.

I got out of bed and immediately tripped over my own feet because my legs moved faster than I expected. The simple act of walking to the bathroom required concentration and effort to keep my movements normal.

In the shower the water felt too hot even though I had it set to my usual temperature. I could smell the shampoo so strongly it made my eyes water. Every sensation was turned up to maximum volume and I didn't know how to turn it back down.

By the time I finished getting ready, my phone had stopped working. The screen kept flickering and going black whenever I touched it. I tried turning it off and back on but it wouldn't respond to any commands.

    Sarah's pov Cain opened his mouth to answer my question but before he could say anything a sharp shrill shout cut through the air and made me flinch.
