The hooves had stopped thundering, they had reached the spot, it was only a matter of time before they turned and betrayed their king.

Our vantage point was perfect, giving us all the view we needed of the battlefield. It was quiet, too quiet for a ground that would soon be swallowed with blood and screams.

I stood by the edge, my eyes taking in the last moment of calmness before the chaos. The last breath before the screams and killing.

The sun had refused to rise, almost like it was mourning the massacre that it was about to witness.
