ROSANNE'S POV
I had not left my room in a week, unable to shake off the feeling of depression that had settled in. Every time I thought about how my dreams had been washed away, a fresh wave of grief hit me.
I stood at the window, lost in thought, when a knock at the door brought me out of the daze. I turned to and my gaze met Anita. "I'm sorry to intrude, Miss, but Alpha said it's time to get introduced to the pack."
I couldn't help but feel a little nervous, OK, scratch that i was very nervous. I had barely seen anyone since I moved here, and the thought of facing the pack seemed scarier than it should be.
"I'm not ready," I stuttered, turning back to the window.H
Anita's voice was soft yet loud "I'm sorry, Miss, but Alpha said you are to come down or be dragged down."
I took a shaky breath, nodding reluctantly. "Awesome, let's go."
As Anita led me to the pack house, my heart raced with anticipation. The room was filled with pack members, all foreign faces. I searched for Mikhail, but he was nowhere to be found.
Xavier's voice echoed through the building, making me jump. "Everyone, please welcome Rosanne Domino!" he announced, pointing at me. "She will be the breeder for the Alpha."
My eyes widened in shock. Breeder? I was meant to be his Luna. Everything started to piece together in my mind. I was never meant to be the Luna. The weddung was all fake.
The room began to spin, and I felt like I was going to pass out.
I tried to slip out quietly, my heart heavy with confusion and heartbreak. But my escape was short-lived, as I crashed into someone.
I let out an apology as i tired to steady myself but a stinging slap connected with my cheek. I held my cheek, shock and pain radiating through me.
Looking up, I met a pair of green eyes filled with disdain. "Watch where you step next time," she sneered, her gaze raking over me.
The room fell silent, except for the murmurs and snickers that seemed to echo in my ears. My face burned with humiliation.
"Why would you do that?" I asked, still holding my cheek.
The green-eyed woman smirked. "I said sorry." She glanced around, clearly enjoying the attention. "Oh, come on, don't act like you don't deserve it, whore."
My eyes flashed with anger, and before I could stop myself, I raised my hand and slapped her back. "Say that again, and I'll have your tongue," I yelled, my voice echoing through the room.
The pack members looked at me with disgust and disdain, their faces twisted in revulsion. I realized, in that moment, that I was truly alone here.
Days blended together in a haze of hostility and rejection. The pack members made it clear they hated me, and they took great pleasure in showing it.
I learned that the blonde girl I clashed with was none other than the Gamma, beloved by all. She was the pack's darling, and many hoped she'd become their future queen.
I let out a disgusted grunt, thinking about my fight with her. Of all people, I had to go and pick a fight with the pack's sweetheart.
Anita's gentle voice broke the silence. "Miss, it's time for lunch."
I hesitated, unsure if I was ready to face the pack again. But something inside me clicked, and I decided to eat in the dining hall.
As I entered, my heart sank. Irene, the Gamma, sat alongside Alpha Mikhail and his brothers. The tension was palpable.
I thought of turning pack but i had too much pride to do so. I took a deep breath and joined them, trying to ignore the eyes all over me.
Irene broke the silence, her voice dripping with malice. "So, Rosanne, is it?"
I nodded curtly. "Yeah."
Irene's eyes sparkled with amusement. "Well, I've heard rumors that you trained a lot."
My instincts screamed warning, but I played it cool. "Yeah, I did."
Irene's smile grew wider. "Well, would you care to join me in a sword fight... just for fun?"
I sensed a trap, but before I could decline, Mikhail intervened, his twisted grin making my skin crawl. "You will spar with her."
I cursed under my breath, knowing I was in trouble. "OK, I'll spar. When is it?"
Mikhail's voice was laced with amusement. "Right now, or you don't want to?"
I wanted to say no but decided against. "Sure, let's do it."
We walked to the training grounds, Irene leading the way. She flashed a confident smile, her blonde hair shining in the sunlight. Grabbing two swords, she tossed one at me. I caught it, positioning myself for the fight.
Irene charged at me with incredible speed. I dodged barely in time, my heart racing. Before I could steady myself, Irene's elbow connected with my chest, sending me crashing to the ground.
She raised her sword, ready to strike. I rolled out of the way just in time, dodging her attack. I knew I was no match for Irene's skill and speed. My best bet was to defend myself and hope they got bored soon.
I parried and dodged, my movements strictly defensive. Thirty minutes had passed by, and I was getting nowhere except exhausted. Irene had already given me several cuts, and I wanted to end this
Frustration and desperation clawed at me. I circled the her, my mind racing for a way to out but none came. Losing patience, I decided to attack.
I lunged at Irene, but she was ready. She countered my attack, using her sword to put me in a headlock. Just as she was about to knock me down, I summoned every last ounce of strength and elbowed her in the stomach.
Irene let out a small cry, releasing me. I seized the opportunity, turning to face her. With the last ounce of strength in me, I pushed her down, pinning her to the ground. I placed the sword at her throat, my chest heaving from exhaustion.
AUTHOR’S POVTWO YEARS LATER Spring had returned to the rogue pack. The air felt lighter and the vibrant colours were back. Flowers blossomed around the garden.Rosanne sat by the cheery tree, her hands on her stomach as she stared at her children running around the field, playing a game of tag.It had been two years of happiness and laughter.Mikhail had been intentional, just a few days after he had proposed the wedding was planned and a few months after that, Rosanne had been pregnant.“Mom!” Aiden screamed, breaking her out of her reverie. He was trying to signal her, but she was too late.“You are it!” Mikhail yelled, placing the flower on her head.Rosanne shrieked, her eyes wide in surprise as she found her husband standing with a proud smile on his face.“When did you get in?”“Just a few minutes ago,” he mumbled, he had been back at his kingdom, trying to sort out the affairs and make his monthly appearance as the lycan king. Her kids laughed, they were all in on it. Knowing
Two weeks laterHe was still here. Each morning I would wake up expecting it to all be a game. But each time I would find him, still here and happy around the children.“When are you going to tell them?” Anita asked. That was the part of the situation I hadn’t gotten around to. Mikhail hadn’t pushed, nor had he asked when I would tell the children about him. Aiden hadn’t said anything, and I still wasn’t sure if he could remember what he had said that night. But I could see it in his eyes, Mikhail he was longing and begging for a chance to be called father. I wanted that also.“Tonight, I want to tell them,” I said in a firm tone. She nodded, I had expected her to be against the idea of both of us, but she has been supportive. I mean, Mikhail had ordered her to be executed.“How do you do it?” I asked. She stared at me with a confused look on her face, “Do what?”“How have you forgiven him so fast even when he had almost killed you?”She smiled, “Rosanne, I have been a maid in Mikhail
MIKHAILShe was quiet, like she was musing over my words.I have stood before men and beasts, and never have I felt the fear that I was feeling at the moment.Rosanne’s answer would control everything and anything that could happen in our future. If she rejected me today, I wouldn’t leave. I will keep on professing my love until she finds me worthy enough to be given a second chance. My fingers glided slowly on her waist, enjoying the way she trembled at each touch, like she was slowly breaking, not in a way that crumbles her. But like a flower, blossoming in the spring.“Kiss me”I didn’t waste another second, my lips smashed against hers, moulding softly against them. She moaned, her hand grabbing my hair like she couldn’t be any further away from me.The kiss didn’t feel like a demand. It was a promise, our souls reaching out to each other believing in the hope for the future. It had started out slow, then it became consuming, she was the fire and I was the gasoline, we were volati
ROSANNE“Thank you for taking them fishing, you didn’t have to,” I said.Mikhail smiled, “They are my blood, and of course I would love to do anything to make them happy,”His eyes lingered on them. Today had been so exciting that they had been knocked out immediately we carried them home.“Rosanne,” he called in a calm voice.I shook my head, trying to fight the image that was threatening to form in my mind. The kiss had been embedded in my mind, like a spell that couldn’t be broken.“How long,” he said in a calm tone, taking a step closer to where I stood.“How long what?” I asked, my voice soft, barely above a whisper.“How long are you going to pretend like you don’t feel this between us,” he said, his hand grabbing my wrist. His touch burned, but not the scathing burn that makes you want to recoil in pain. It was the soothing heat you felt on a cold winter night.“Mikhail…” I mewled, my voice broken.“You are my peace,” he said, repeating the words he had said on the first night
ROSANNEONE MONTH LATERThe pack was quiet, Mikhail had tricked me— us, played Henry right where he needed him.I had expected him to kill Henry, but instead, he had surprised us, given him a chance to live, but as a prisoner to his rule. The door opened, I didn’t need to look back, and his scent had filled the room, “What do you want?”My body trembled, and his voice still sent shivers down my spine. I hated it, but couldn’t fight against it.“You,” he said in a calm tone, sounding nothing like the man who had made himself a judge in my land.I snickered, “Mikhail, we both know that you don’t want me. You just love the power you once had over me,” I hissed.“Rosanne…”“No, I have been patient for so long. Each time you had twisted my hand, broken my heart. I can’t… I can’t let you play this game,”“What if I told you that it wasn’t a game?” he said, moving closer to where I stood.I was tired. Tired of fighting, tired of the anger just tired of literally everything.Mikhail was smoot
ROSANNE Henry rushed into the room, his eyes wide and blood covering his body. The bells echoed through the camp, and voices and cries of babies who had been broken out of their slumber echoed through the night.“What is the problem?” I asked, and immediately my eyes found Henry. I held back a gasp, seeing the state he was in, he looked battered, like he had just survived an attack.“Mikhail, he tried to leave his room and while the guards and I tried to persuade him to stay put, he lashed out, attacking everyone who stood in his way,” he rasped, holding the part of his hand that had been bleeding.“The guards?” I asked, fear thrumming in my chest as I thought about the response that I would get.“They are dead, I had managed to escape and alert the guard to sound the bell,” he said.Anita and Axel rushed out of the room eyes wide, “What is going on?” Axel asked in a calm tone. His eyes taking in Henry’s state.Henry narrated the story.I frowned, That sounded nothing like what Mikh
