Aria stood in the bathroom, hands braced on the sink, watching her reflection in the mirror. She had ordered a ride back because she couldn't trust herself to walk all the way back. She was using all her strength to make sure she didn't break down right there. She refused to cry over this.

Emily’s voice kept echoing in her mind. The softness in her tone made it even more infuriating. And the fact that Damian spoke so....casually, like they were more than just acquaintances, made her blood boil.

She was probably his real girlfriend, she thought.

Oh my, was I the side piece?

Was he toying with my feelings?

Come to think of it, he had never actually asked me to be his girlfriend.

Wow.

With all these thoughts swirling in her mind, she was beginning to have a headache.

She splashed cold water on her face, took a couple deep breaths, and straightened.

She could pretend this all didn't happen. That everything was fine. She’d been doing it her whole life.

So she pulled herself together, chan

  • Brewed For You    Chapter 48

Aria was finding it hard to fall asleep. She wasn't sure if it was because she was alone in Cole's big-ass guest bedroom or just the fact she was not in her own bed. Even though the guest room was comfortable and Mila kept checking on her like a nervous mother hen. Her mind refused to shut up. Every time she closed her eyes, she saw that cup on her shelf… the footprint near the balcony that the officer had shown them… the open window.Despite the fact that Mila openly sharing a room with Cole came as a shock to her, it still wasnt enough to shake off the tension in her body. Who was trying to toy with her peace? She wanted to know. She kept reminding herself that maybe she imagined some things. Maybe the stress made everything look worse. The police had scanned the fingerprints but were not able to pick anything from it, said the evidence were not enough evidence for a break in.Maybe they were right...But deep down… she knew.Someone had indeed been inside. And that thought sat on h

  • Brewed For You    Chapter 47

What if whoever opened that window is still inside?Just as she had that thought, she heard faint shuffling. The sound came from the hallway.A soft, dragging shuffle...too gentle to be wind, if she wasn't listening she would have even registered it. Something that sounded like a foot adjusting weight. A floorboard complaining quietly. Her entire body snapped cold.Someone was indeed in the house. Not maybe. Not possibly.Someone was inside. Her breath stuttered. Her phone, which was in her hand, nearly slipped from her damp fingers. Her palms had began to sweat. The footsteps came again. A little heavier this time. A little closer. This time, every possibility that she might be imaging it, that she was just hearing things, flew out her already opened window. And that meant she wasn't safe. She had to act fast.Aria didn’t think. Her legs moved before her brain caught up, sprinting toward the bathroom. She slammed the door shut, locked it, and pressed her back against the cold tile wa

  • Brewed For You    Chapter 46

Aria should have known something was off from the moment she woke up.You know that feeling when you wake up feeling a little down and you decided not to act on it because you don't want to jinx your day? That was how Aria felt when she got out of bed.Nothing dramatic. It was just… a strange heavy feeling in her chest. It just sat there and refused to move. She tried to shake it off, made her bed twice, and even ironed some of her laundry that she already turned yesterday. Just random nonsense to avoid thinking too much.Anyway, she managed to push through the morning crowd at the café, with Mila's help. They sold out most of their pastries by noon, and closed early because Aria's head wasn’t really in it.Maybe it was because Damian hadn’t checked in since morning.Maybe it was because Mila was strangely quiet today.Maybe it was because she kept replaying the hoodie-man standing across from her café the other day.Everything felt slightly wrong but not wrong enough for her to compl

  • Brewed For You    Chapter 45

The morning didn't come as crashing as it usually did, instead it crept in slowly. It was like whoever was up there has seen how rough the previous week had been and decided to give Aria a chance to breathe.Aria woke up slowly, one eye opening before the other, her mind already thinking of Mila even before her feet even touched the floor. When she walked out of her room, the apartment felt… still. Not empty, just quiet in the way it feels like she was the only one home. She walked to the kitchen still half asleep, making herself a string cup of coffee.she wanted an early start since she might be working alone at the cafe today because she didn't hear Mila come home last nightBut surprisingly enough, Mila’s door was cracked open.Aria decided to peek in.And there she was. An awake Mila, sitting on her bed with her knees pulled to her chest, hair let down, wrapped in one of her old oversized shirts that had already faded a lot. She had this distant look on her face, but she looked be

  • Brewed For You    Chapter 44

Morning light seeped delicately between the curtains, stroking Aria's cheek warmly. This time, she knew where she was. In her own house.. She groaned softly and rolled over, eyes still closed, not wanting to get up. Sunday. It was still the weekend which meant a day with no café, no morning rush, no constant need to be on top of everything. Just … nothing.Yet, for some reason, that feeling of freedom didn't surface as she had hoped. Her body was heavy, her head buzzing from all the little things she hadn't done during the week. She finally pushed herself up, running a hand through her hair and stretching. The apartment was quiet, peaceful, almost suspiciously so. She tilted her head to one side, scanning her bedroom from where she sat on her bed. Sunlight painted patterns on the floor, somehow managing to make her small cozy room look magical. Her phone buzzed on the bedside table, and she instinctively reached for it. Damian. Of course.Damian: Morning. Sleep in?Aria's lips twitche

  • Brewed For You    Chapter 43

The sunlight creeping into Damian's room woke Aria before she was ready to open her eyes. It wasn't harsh or anything, just this warm, lazy glow slipping between the curtains to sit on her eyelids like it owned the place. And for a moment, she thought she was waking up at home… until she felt the weight around her waist. It was so heavy that she opened her eyes in panic because her brain couldn't register what it was. She looked down to see the cause of the weight on her waist. And there it was.His arm. Damian's arm.He was still asleep behind her, his breathing slow and steady, his chest rising softly against her back. The sight alone felt like a blanket of calmness. It was the calmest she'd been all week. No tightness in her chest…no pacing thoughts…no checking her phone every two minutes to see if Mila texted. And honestly, she just wanted to stay like this for a bit. Maybe more than a bit.She didn't move, afraid to wake him up. But of course the universe had other plans because D
