FENRIC'S POV

I pressed my nose into her hair and breathed her in.

Under the salt and spend and the smoke of a hundred Scion bodies, there she was—that stubborn, warm, human smell of her. Peaches and peonies. My arms came up around her, cupping the weight of her breasts in my palms.

My touch was meant to comfort, not claim, shielding her from curious eyes.

Because they were still watching.

Gadreel sat three chaises away, never once looking away. Vaelis lounged beside him, feigning ease, his gaze

  • Bride of the Beasts   Chapter 121: Someone Else's Turn

RHYDAN'S POVThe moment we sensed Gadreel approaching, Brammon and I were already on our feet. We barely managed half a step before someone blocked our path. The High King.He raised one hand, his expression perfectly composed.“Don’t,” he ordered.Brammon and I stopped only for a moment. But just as I was about to step around him and continue forward, he shook his head.“You’ve had your moment. Let them have theirs.”My aura broke loose. So did Brammon's—both of us at once, heat and weight flooding the aisle, rattling the empty cups on the tables, making the nearest Scions shift where they stood. Even Gadreel paused from dragging Anwen. The High King, however, didn't so much as flinch. He remained perfectly still, his raised hand the only thing standing between us and the man hurting Anwen.I had always been curious about the true extent of his power. In all the time I'd known him, I'd never once seen him unleash it. Not even a fraction of it.I knew it was there. I could sense it, l

Peaches and peonies. My arms came up around her, cupping the weight of her breasts in my palms. My touch was meant to comfort, not claim, shielding her from curious eyes.Because they were still watching.Gadreel sat three chaises away, never once looking away. Vaelis lounged beside him, feigning ease, his gaze moving over her like that of a man appraising a horse he intended to buy. Both of them patient, wanting, and waiting for their turn. They would not get it.The sun should be bleeding through the glass above us any moment now. She was still locked in my knot, snug and swollen and sealed, and by my reckoning it would hold her a while yet. Long enough. It had to be.And Anwen… this tiny, clever, wicked thing knew exactly what she was doing. She squirmed on my lap, a slow roll of her hips, chasin

  • Bride of the Beasts   Chapter 119: Knot Until Sunrise

ANWEN'S POVI did not know if I had really said the words. It felt real enough to taste, yet thin enough to doubt.Had I said it aloud? Had my mouth shaped those three words, or had I only thought them, so loudly that the thought felt like speech?I could not remember. The night had wrung me out until there was nothing left in me but raw nerve and ache, and between one crest and the next, I had slipped in and out of waking until the edges of dream and reality had bled into each other and stayed that way.Fenric had given me no sign. He only kept going, holding me close as he always did. If I'd really said it, he would have teased me about it, or tried to draw it out of me.Brammon and Rhydan, watching from their seats the whole night through, had offered nothing either. No raised brows, no flicker of understanding. Just that same heavy, patient attention.Part of me hoped it had all been a dream. Not because I doubted what I felt. I didn't.It was real. It had been real for weeks, per

  • Bride of the Beasts   Chapter 118: Bred and Beloved

ANWEN'S POVMy cheek had long since gone numb, flattened into the velvet cushion while Fenric drove into me from behind. His fingers had dug grooves into my hips, hauling them upward, angling me to whatever suited him best. The chaise creaked with every meeting of our bodies. It had been hours since Fenric took over.I did not know how many hours were left. I had stopped counting when the counting itself became too much work, and now I only knew that dawn had not yet come, and that when it did, all of this would be over.I did not have the strength anymore. I was baffled that I could still keep my eyes open. They should not have been able to. My body had been wrung past the point where a body was meant to function, and yet here I was.Still breathing, still taking him, still aware of the burn where he entered me.I could feel his strain too. It hummed through him, a tremor in his thighs, a tightness in the hands that held me, a hoarse, ragged drag of breath across my back. With Brammo

  • Bride of the Beasts   Chapter 117: The Bull

ANWEN'S POVI lost count of the times I fell asleep and woke up after they made me come apart.Somewhere between the third time and the seventh—or maybe the ninth—the numbers stopped meaning anything. The night had become a wheel, and I was bound to its endless turning.Brammon would take me slowly. Fenric would keep me slick with his hands and his mouth, murmuring filthy things against my skin, narrating what my body was doing before it did it. Now and then he would use my hands and my mouth to empty him, and I was grateful for the distraction. Rhydan, from his chair, fucked me with his stare while he stroked himself. They stoked me like a fire that had all night to catch. And when I finally came apart, it was never a small thing. It was the kind of shattering that stole the floor out from under me, left me twitching and empty-headed, and then—darkness. And then I woke, and we did it all over again. This time I stirred to the feeling of strong arms slipping beneath my shoulders, then

  • Bride of the Beasts   Chapter 116: An Audience of Kings

ANWEN'S POVThe High King returned to his throne, arranging his golden robe around him, his composure seemingly intact. Or at least, he was trying to make it appear so.Vaelis and Gadreel retreated to their chaises as well, but neither made another move toward the women beside them. I could feel their eyes on us—furious, calculating, fixed on me and my three kings. They were waiting for my kings to finish with me, I realized.Waiting for their turn. The thought sent a chill crawling down my spine.Rhydan, Fenric, and Brammon felt their predatory gazes too.Brammon’s eyes flicked toward them, then to Rhydan, whose jaw had tightened. But Brammon didn’t seem bothered. If anything, he looked amused. He caught Gadreel's eye and smirked, a deliberate, taunting curve of his lips. Gadreel and Vaelis sat rigid on their cushions, faces carefully blank, but I could see the fury seething beneath their composure, barely contained. They wanted to protest again, wanted to demand their share. But th

  • Bride of the Beasts   Chapter 4: Between Flight and Fall

ANWEN'S POVI woke with a shiver, pain lancing through my side like fire as darkness pressed in on all sides. For a moment, my mind betrayed me, dragging me back into the cramped, suffocating wagon compartment, the stench of fish and rotting wood clinging to my senses as sharply as ever. Then some

  • Bride of the Beasts   Chapter 3: Caught and Taken

ANWEN'S POV“What do we have hiding in here?”His eyes pinned me as if he could peel back my skin and see the truth beneath. Then his hands closed around my shoulders—hard, immovable. Strong. The kind that could crush bone without trying.I kept my head down.I nearly yelped when his grip tightened

  • Bride of the Beasts   Chapter 1: Burrowed Deep

ANWEN'S POVTwenty years later.Monsters rule the world now. They don’t hide in shadows or lurk beneath beds. They sit in councils. They wear crowns. They walk our roads in broad daylight as if the world belongs to them.Because it does. They call themselves the Scions—magic wielders, shifters, and

  • Bride of the Beasts   Prologue: The Cradle and the Grave

It hurt.A sharp, tearing brilliance bloomed beneath Azara’s skin as though her own light had turned against her.Radiants like her were not meant to bleed, nor to know agony such as this. Pain belonged to mortal flesh, to bone and blood and fragile breath. Not to beings wrought from pure illuminat
