Chapter 3

Everyone was caught off guard by the strange noise and they tried desperately to keep their wits together.

"what was that? " Felix asked as he watched the direction of the forest it sound came from.

Damian wiped a sweat from his face and replied "what ever that was, I don't want to find out. Doesn't even sound natural at all "

A few of them agreed with him on that as they cautiously looked around. Some of them already hid behind the trees in the opposite direction .

They all just remained there for a few seconds and then about a minute, five minutes and then nothing else happened.

"I think it wasn't close by, but very far away at the other direction. "

Felix said this time he was at the top of a tree branch and looking at the direction of the sound, hoping to see more from his elevated position.

"do you see anything? " they asked him but he shook his head in response before he said.

"I don't see anything but trees everywhere, let's just hope what ever that is doesn't come this way. "

Marlene the girl whom had called for help earlier kept sobbing and her sobs drew their attention back to the what they discovered before the roar.

"is that Blessing? " Cordelia asked again sobbing up already, a few tears pouring down her eyes.

Some of the guys came close to the body to examine it.

"this is not Blessing, it's Favour and I don't think she's breathing anymore" Hanson who examined the body said.

"let me have a look, I am a medical student " Felicia said and went towards the body, everyone stepped back to give her room.

she knelt and then examined the body carefully as a doctor would and then after a few seconds she looked at everyone with a sad look and shook her head.

"she's dead. "

The moment she said that everyone physically became weak, some started crying and others just turned away.

The shock and fear from the loud roar, along with the fact that they don't know what was happening and then the dead body now just weighed down on them.

It was annoying for some of them because they absolutely do not know what was happening.

"is like she died of shock, few hours ago, but I don't know " Felicia weakly sat on the floor and took off her glasses to wipe off a few tears that dropped down her eyes.

Cordillia was slightly relieved it wasn't her friend blessing, but it did not make it any less saddening. She equally sat on the floor not knowing what to do.

"are we all going to die?" Sophia asked weakly with her soft voice, she had always been a gentle, soft and weak willed person.

At this point no body knew the answer to her question since they looked depressed as well.

"no we are not. " Hanson said and knelt on one knee in front of her to hold her hands.

"we are all going to be fine, I promise you that " he said reassuringly.

Hanson stood up and then looked at everyone

"Alright everyone, let's not get down yet. Let's try to figure this out and then decide what next to do "

But everyone didn't seem to be listening not until Cordelia stood up, looked around and then asked. "If that's not Blessing, then where is Blessing? "

Everyone looked at one another and then started looking around for Blessing.

Blessing was their female class rep and was basically the smartest girl in school back then. She wasn't as pretty as Cordillia, but she was also good looking.

"she's not here "

Baji said from one corner, after looking around the bushes close to him.

"I don't think she came with us to this place " Anita said

Donald walked over to the body of Favour and stared at it curiously trying to ascertain her cause of death.

Damien joined him and then saw a bracelet on the ground with a letter C inscribed to it.

"I think Blessing was here, this is what I found."

Damien showed everyone the bracelet.

"I remember Blessing always wearing this particular bracelet in school, she was very fond of it. "

"yes yes it belongs to Blessing, I gave her that bracelet as a gift back in high school " Cordelia said as she recognized the bracelet.

she took it from Damien and examined it.

"what does it all mean then? " Cordelia asked.

"I really do not know " Damien answered her.

"unless you want me to say Blessing somehow was here when she died "

"are you trying to say that blessing killed her? " Cordelia said with her temper rising.

"I did not say that but it's what I'm thinking and what it all suggest "

Damien said without care

"Blessing would never do that, she's my friend I know her. " Cordelia defended

"who knows, we'll have to find her and ask her " Damien said and then walked away from that spot.

"really? How can...."

Cordelia was about questioning him again when Felix interjected.

"shhhh, everyone do you hear that?" Felix was still on the tree and looking with more cautiousness now.

"hear what?!" Cordelia snapped since she was still angry, but seeing his face she knew it was something serious.

Everyone else started coming closer cautiously.

"what's happening Felix? " Damien asked.

"I think the trees are moving and I can hear rustling coming from that direction as well " Felix said

everyone listen attentively and heard the rustling sound, like someone was moving through the forest roughly and approaching their direction.

"it's getting closer " Felix said

And then they heard the roar again, closer than it was before and they all panicked and started moving backwards and away from the direction.

They all saw the trees moving forcefully and making noises and growling getting louder and louder.

"something is coming, it's already here " Hanson said in fright.

Within the trees they'd see a shadowy figure getting closer and closer as it moved tree branches and the leaves and plants trying to get through.

"Who is your Leader?" it called out with a husky coarse monstrous voice
