My stepmom is my Mate?

"Get back!“ I yelled frantically, shoving the door that fell behind me as hard as I could. I could feel my heart beat plummet even as I struggled. I hissed as soon as my naked skin came in contact with a nail. My nails digging deeper into the wood. I groaned, shifting my weight from one leg to the other.

“We can’t make it out alive! I can’t.” The lady yelled, pool of tears threatening to fall down her cheeks as she took a look around the inner circle we were supposed to protect together.

“What? You can’t leave me to this!” I yelled back and just at that moment, a loud howl was heard. It was close. Too close. The pack has been invaded. I felt my heart beat stop for a minute, watching as blood splashed around, the cry of my people before they met their doom. There was no way my parents could still be alive under this chaos.

My heart bled for the ones I called mother and father but I knew it was bound to happen. Ever since Alpha William claimed war with our pack, we all knew this was bound to happen. We have been training non stop to defend our land, I especially have been training endlessly, knowing this war will be my chance to prove myself to our pack Alpha. I remember the council of elders trying to talk Alpha Jason, our pack Alpha out of this and to give into Alpha William but he vehemently refused.

Alpha William is what people call. 'Nemesis’ well known for his notorious brutality and promiscuous behavior. At that moment, I knew this was bound to happen and I might loose the ones dear to me but again, if I loose them in the battle to protect my pack then, It’s worth it.

That’s what we have been taught.

“I’m sorry Elena but I have to save myself.” She says and ran off, leaving me to fight by myself. This wasn’t the time to brood, she only showed how much of a coward she was. Fighting to keep and protect our pack was something we have all been taught. It’s been engraved into our blood and bones and that’s just what I will do.

I gulped the pile in my throat as I came face to face with the enemy, my hands immediately reaching for my knife and pulled it out. I watched as the boy’s eyes widen on seeing the sharp glint in the knife. My grip on the leather skin tightened as the boy leaped towards me, immediately swinging my fist, coming in direct contact with the boy’s face, he staggered back a bit and I took it as the opportunity, grabbing the boy by the head and threw him against the door. I jumped at him, locking his waist hard with my legs as I swing my fist against his cheek. The boy groaned, writhing painfully beneath me. My nails digging deeper into his skin, he struggled to get me off him but I couldn’t.

“Let go. This is a lost cause.” The boy managed to grit out, blood oozing out of his nostrils, mouth filled with saliva and blood. I grunted, gripping my knife harder and stringing it against his neck.

“I don’t think so’” I snarled, pushing the knife into his neck the more when I heard another howl, another of my pack member in pain or dying. I look back at the boy laying beneath me and shuddered. He looked too young to even be fighting for this. Why is he even helping Alpha-

I was suddenly knocked over, a gasp escaped my lips as I was pushed off the boy beneath me. My head felt heavy and eyes unfocused, I touched the back of my head to see blood dripping down my fingers.

I couldn’t make out the people hovering over me but I could hear their voices. My head was getting heavier and heavier by the minute. I felt someone kick my leg but I couldn’t react. My eyes felt hazy and blurry.

I heard someone whistle loudly “Woo…this one’s beautiful, it would be a shame for her to die here. Let’s bring her back.” I blacked out.
