ZEPH

Watching him gulp, looking like he was having an argument with himself, I wondered, not for the first time when he would show that side of him I knew all too well. Why does it seem like the more time I spent with him, the more different he seemed from the Lysander I knew?

When he placed his hand on the back of my hair, it surprised me to feel his fingers running through my hair.

When he whispered, “You're Beautiful,” I almost lost it. I was dumbstruck, staring at him like someone caught under a lightning bolt. He reached to touch my face, and I just let him. I couldn't turn my face. He'll know something was up if I did that.

His gaze held mine until I broke away from that stare. Gulping, I peered down at his slacks. I didn't want to do this anymore. Before I knelt down, I had been determined to give him a head and then… Then, what?

It felt like that freaking amazing idea I'd gotten looking at him had vanished, like a dream after waking up.

  • Bringing Him To His Knees: Her Vengeful Rebirth   I believe I might have fallen for her

LYSANDER Zeph was freaking driving me crazy. I knew I wanted her gone, just so I could avoid the mistakes of the past. I didn't want to see her cry because of me, to watch her pretty eyes die daily, yet the more time I spent with her, the greedier I became. I wasn't supposed to be like this!'Why are you fighting the bond? Just mark her and she'll be yours forever. Your dream self didn't mark her.'He made the right decision. Even though he was an arse hole to her, I understood his need to keep her at arm's length. Zeph showed up when we didn't want her. A friend had betrayed me, and the hurt was still fresh. 'It has been years since that betrayal, Lys!' Cole growled, too loudly, I feared Zeph might hear. She just stared down at me, her pretty hazel eyes smiling. I didn't know how she did that; she made her eyes smile instead of her lips.'She's beautiful,' Cole whispered, mesmerised by her. 'She's perfect.'Yeah. I couldn't deny that. Wanting her gone was a different issue from d

I followed him as he showed me all the floors in his company. We entered every office during the tour, and I couldn't help but notice how most of the women stared at me with jealousy. They weren't discreet about it. They brazenly stared until I felt like they might rip me to shreds with just their eyes if they had claws. It was such a pity they didn't know the man they admired. They were just like old me, who knew nothing about a man I loved to the moon and back. If I did, I wouldn't have fallen for him. I wouldn't have almost drowned my future because of a hopeless love. His secretary was the only one who offered me a genuine smile, like the receptionist downstairs. “Sophie,” she had introduced herself, smiling as we shook hands. I'd thought no one's eyes were expressive until I saw hers. While others wore their emotions on a sleeve, she wore hers in her eyes. They sparkled when she smiled. Sophie was a beauty reborn, with golden bronze skin and ebony black hair; she looked lik

ZEPHLysander trailed behind me, a trolley in his hand, pushing it. I glanced back occasionally at him, still amazed by what was happening. When he proposed taking me out, I expected it to be like he did before. When I hardly had time to decide on anything. He had the final word and never let me make any decision. I was just like a puppet to him then, and I blindly followed him, with a smile on my face like the damned fool that he always took me for. He was acting so differently from what I was used to. His fake character was just like a ticking bomb, waiting for the right time to explode.“The fantasy section is on the right.” He pointed out, calling my attention to him, and the present. I had almost forgotten, for a few seconds there, where we were and the reason for it. “Oh.”I changed route at once and started for that area. He followed silently. When we got to the aisle, he leaned on the wall, arms folded, and watched me. I had to pretend I couldn't feel his stare on me as I co

LYSANDER She had seen me. That gaze I had felt before I ran around the house had been hers. Fuck! Why wasn't I careful enough? Why did I think she had gone to sleep? I should have checked on her before I left. 'But she called us Majestic,' Cole said, choosing to take that word from every other thing she had said. It was obvious he didn't care about anything other than that she had called him majestic."That's not the freaking point!" I slammed my fists so hard on the desk, it cracked. I guess I'll have to change the desk for the 100th time since I built this house. "Didn't you see how terrified she was when we stepped in? When she saw my hair, her face turned ashen white!"I couldn't forget that look, not in a million years..it had broken my heart, made it hurt. I hated it, seeing that fear in her gaze. It just wasn't something I wanted to see ever again on her face. 'But we aren't scary. We didn't even hurt her!' "She's a freaking human! Of course, our height would scare her."I

I felt the bed dip before his warm arms wrapped around me like a blanket. “It's okay. There's no monster out there.” He tried to reassure me, his voice soft, as if he were trying to coax a baby. “No.” I shook my head, not about to believe his lies. “I had seen it. The monster. He's… He's… Huge and golden.”I felt him tense, and the grip on my arms tightened. “Oh, you… You saw m… It?” I ignored the nervous stutter and looked up, eyes wide. Knowing someone else saw it made me realize with icy dread that it was actually real. Not that I didn't know that already. "You also saw that.” At that moment, I didn't see him as an enemy. It felt like we were allies with the same enemy; the strange, huge creature. I broke away from his hug so I could sit up on the bed to hear everything, so I wouldn't miss out on a detail.“I'm sorry you had to see it, uh… patrolling.”I frowned, my fear giving in to suspicion. “Patrolling?”He nodded and sat on the bed. “I have been getting disturbing informatio
