Elsa’s Pov

The morning sun spilled over the pack house, gilding the tall windows with an almost holy light. Inside, the air was anything but holy. Servants scurried through the halls, carrying trays, linens, decorations all in preparation for Crystal’s convocation. The ceremony that would seal her as the Luna of the pack.

And for the first time, I was summoned not alone, but with every other maid in the estate.

We gathered in the grand hall, our heads bowed, our hands folded neatly in front of us. The room smelled of polished wood and burning incense, but beneath it was the sharp tang of tension.

At the front stood Alpha Caleb.

My chest tightened at the sight of him. He was dressed simply, but authority clung to him like a second skin. The Alpha’s aura pressed down on us, forcing many maids to keep their eyes glued to the floor. But I couldn’t look away. Not completely. Not after everything.

I remembered the days when his voice had once been soft in my ear, when I thought his arms were a refuge. Now, standing tall and unreadable, he felt like a stranger.

And beside him stood Crystal.

Her golden hair gleamed, her smile was poised and flawless, but her eyes were sharp and full of hunger. She looked at us not as pack sisters, but as tools objects to polish and place at her convenience.

Caleb’s voice filled the hall, deep and commanding. “The Luna’s convocation is approaching. It will be an event to show the strength and unity of this pack. Every detail must be perfect. Every hand must serve with loyalty.”

His eyes swept over the rows of bowed heads. For a heartbeat, they lingered on me. Just long enough for my heart to kick painfully against my ribs. Then he looked away, as though I were no different than the girl standing next to me.

“From today,” he continued, “Luna Crystal will select her personal maids. They will serve her directly, attend her during the convocation, and remain by her side after.”

A ripple of whispers moved through the hall. This was no small duty. To be a personal maid meant being under constant scrutiny, bound to Crystal’s every whim. Some looked eager. Others looked terrified.

I only felt sick.

Crystal stepped forward gracefully, her heels clicking against the polished floor. Her smile widened, and she let her gaze sweep across the gathered maids like a predator circling prey.

“Well,” she said softly, though her voice carried. “I already know who I want.”

She moved slowly, savoring the moment, watching the way we tensed under her gaze. Then, like a queen bestowing favors, she lifted her hand.

“Lila.”

My friend stiffened beside me. Her eyes darted to mine, wide with fear. She took a trembling step forward.

“Dahlia.”

A tall girl near the back bowed quickly and hurried to stand at Crystal’s side.

“Ruth.”

Another maid obeyed.

And then Crystal’s smile turned sharp, triumphant, cruel.

“And… Elsa.”

The air left my lungs.

For a moment, I thought I had misheard. My ears rang with the sound of my own heartbeat. But when I looked up, Crystal was staring directly at me, her lips curling in satisfaction.

“Come forward,” she ordered.

My legs moved before my mind caught up, each step heavy as stone. I could feel the weight of every gaze on me. Whispers filled the room curious, mocking, some even pitying.

The girl who was once the Alpha’s mate. Now standing in line as his Luna’s servant.

I stopped beside Lila, my fists clenched so tightly the skin burned. My eyes flicked to Caleb.

And I glared.

Glaring so hard it was a wonder the force of it didn’t cut through him.

But Caleb didn’t flinch. He didn’t acknowledge me at all. His expression was carved from stone, his gaze fixed somewhere above us, as though I were invisible. As though I had never been his.

The rejection hit harder than any blow.

Crystal, delighted, clasped her hands together. “Perfect,” she said brightly. “These four will serve as my personal maids, day and night, until the convocation is over. Their duties will be… extensive. And any failure will be punished. Harshly.”

Her words dripped like honey, but everyone heard the venom beneath.

The hall fell silent. No one dared object. Not even Lila, though her lips trembled as though she might cry.

My wolf snarled faintly in my chest, but I forced her down. Now was not the time.

The meeting continued, with instructions for cleaning, cooking, arranging decorations, and preparing the convocation chamber. But I barely heard a word.

I could not pull my gaze from Caleb.

The Alpha who had once marked me, once whispered promises against my skin, once sworn I was his. Now he had stood by silently while Crystal chained me to her side.

My anger burned hotter than the shame.

When the meeting ended, the maids dispersed quickly, hurrying back to their duties. I lingered only a moment, my glare locked on Caleb until the very last second, until I turned sharply and followed Lila out the door.

As we walked down the corridor, Lila grabbed my arm, her voice hushed and frantic. “Elsa… what will we do? She’ll make our lives hell. You know she will.”

I forced a smile, though my insides trembled. “We’ll endure,” I whispered. “She wants to break me, but I’m not the same girl I was before. Let her try.”

Lila’s eyes filled with tears. “She won’t stop until…”

“She won’t win,” I cut in, firmer this time.

Even as I said it, a part of me doubted. A part of me knew Crystal’s cruelty would only grow sharper, now that she had me bound in her service.

But I also knew this: if I survived Caleb’s betrayal, I could survive her.

Back in the hall, Crystal lingered beside Caleb, her voice sweet as silk. “Thank you, my Alpha,” she purred. “Now she will know her place.”

Caleb’s expression remained unreadable. “See that she does,” he said curtly.

Crystal’s smile widened.

And though his face betrayed nothing, deep inside, Caleb’s wolf shifted uneasily, for reasons he did not care to name.

Elsa’s POVThe knock was soft, but it pulled me from my restless sleep like thunder.I blinked against the dim morning light, the silken canopy above me unfamiliar even now. My heart stuttered in my chest. It couldn’t be Dylan—if it were, I would have already felt his presence, the heavy command of his aura pressing against my wolf.I sat up quickly, clutching the edges of my robe and tying it around my waist. My bare feet sank into the thick carpet as I moved toward the living room. The knock came again quieter, hesitant.I pulled open the door. And my world stopped.Standing there, wide-eyed, trembling, was Lila.I froze, my throat closing, convinced I was dreaming. My hand shot up to my face, wiping at my eyes, desperate to clear the illusion. But she didn’t vanish. She was real. And before I could speak, she threw herself forward and wrapped me in her arms. Her familiar scent warm, earthy, threaded with lavender hit me all at once, and my knees buckled. My arms wrapped around her

  • Broken Luna Rise Back   The Alpha’s Watch

Dylan’s POVThe night was too quiet.I’ve learned over the years that quiet doesn’t mean peace….it means danger. It’s the breath before the strike, the pause before the knife comes down. A pack’s silence was never empty. It was heavy, charged, waiting.I stood on the balcony outside my chambers, hands resting on the stone rail as I looked down at the courtyard. Torches burned low, their flames bending with the night breeze. Guards patrolled in pairs, their boots clicking against the stones, their movements sharp and disciplined. My pack always moved with precision. That was how I kept them strong. That was why no other Alpha dared test me.And yet, I could feel it like a draft seeping through cracks in the walls. The air wasn’t clean. Whispers were spreading, like insects burrowing beneath the skin.I didn’t need to hear the words to know where they came from.Veronica.My jaw tightened. She hadn’t approached me directly since Elsa arrived, and that alone told me everything I needed t

  • Broken Luna Rise Back   The Mistress’s Fury

Author’s POVThe maid’s words echoed in Veronica’s mind like a cruel bell: “She sat beside Lady Selene. The Lady held her hand. Even Neris likes her.”Veronica’s fingers dug into the silk of her gown as she paced her room. The rich fabric that once made her feel like a queen now felt suffocating. How could this be happening? She had spent years weaving herself into Dylan’s life years of smiles, whispered promises, and stolen nights. She had endured his coldness when he grew distant, clung to the warmth when he allowed her close again, and convinced herself that in time, he would see that no one else could stand at his side the way she could. But now…now some little slip of a girl had walked in from nowhere, and suddenly the Luna’s chamber belonged to her.Veronica slammed her fist against the vanity, making the glass perfume bottles tremble. Her reflection glared back at her: flawless beauty, dark eyes sharp as knives, lips painted the color of blood. She had been told all her life sh

  • Broken Luna Rise Back   Weighing Shadows

Elsa’s POVLady Selene still held my hand as though she didn’t want to let me go. Her grip was steady, warm, and stronger than I expected. It was strange how she made me feel safe in the middle of a room that reeked of tension.“Sit with me, child,” she said, patting the seat beside her.The maids quickly adjusted the cushions, clearing the space. I lowered myself onto the chair, my back straight, hands folded in my lap. My heart beat fast, though I forced my face to remain calm.Neris plopped down at my other side, cheerful as ever, her curls bouncing. She leaned so close I could feel her excitement radiating. Lyra, however, chose to stand near the window, her posture elegant, her expression unreadable. She crossed her arms, eyes fixed on me like a hawk watching prey.Lady Selene spoke first, her voice low but carrying weight. “You must forgive my daughters. One is too quick to trust, the other too slow. Both are young still, learning the ways of this world. But you…” Her sharp gaze

  • Broken Luna Rise Back   A Different Kind of Strength

Elsa’s POVThe morning light was soft when the knock came at my door. I had barely finished fastening the silver clasp on my gown when the guards appeared to escort me. My heart thudded as we crossed the long corridors of the packhouse and descended the stone steps. Outside, the air was crisp, scented with pine and faint traces of smoke from the chimneys.“She is waiting,” one of the guards said gruffly, and I followed, my palms damp inside my sleeves.Lady Selene’s residence stood separate from the main packhouse, though close enough that her presence could still loom over everything. The building was elegant but quiet, its white stone walls climbing with ivy. It felt older than the other structures, filled with a kind of weight that whispered of history and power.I stepped inside. The scent of herbs and polished wood filled the air. The chamber was wide, warmed by a great hearth. There, near the center, Lady Selene sat on a high-backed chair draped with wolf pelts. Two maids knelt

  • Broken Luna Rise Back   Shadows of Expectation

Elsa’s POVThe gown lay across the bed like a trap. Rich velvet dyed the color of midnight, its sleeves embroidered with threads of silver that shimmered like frost. It was beautiful, far more beautiful than anything I had ever touched, let alone worn. But as I sat on the edge of the bed staring at it, I felt no pride. Only heaviness. The Luna’s chamber was quiet except for the crackling of the fireplace. Everything around me gleamed polished wood, silk curtains, a carved wardrobe filled with gowns I had never dared imagine. And yet all of it felt alien. A cage wrapped in velvet. My mind wasn’t here. Not in this room, not in this house, not in this life that had turned upside down in the space of a single day. My thoughts drifted back, again and again, to Lila.I pictured her small frame hurrying about the servant’s quarters, her bright eyes flashing when she scolded me for forgetting to eat. Was she safe? Was she still at the mercy of Crystal’s venom? I had left her behind without a
