Chapter 12

Author: Crystal K
Isabella's POV

The second I saw Dante burst through the door, the tension that had been holding me together snapped.

"Dante..." I whispered his name.

He rushed to my side, untying the ropes and pulling me into his arms.

"It's okay, you're okay..." his voice was shaking. "I'm here, I'm here..."

I looked at Lorenzo, who lay in a pool of his own blood. His eyes were open, but vacant.

The blade was still in his chest.

"Isabella, look at me," Dante cupped my face. "Don't look at him."

I nodded, but my body began to shake uncontrollably.

Fear, rage, and a profound sense of relief washed over me, leaving me breathless.

"I want to go home..." my voice was small.

"We're going home now," Dante held me tighter. "Right now..."

My vision blurred, and my body felt heavy.

The last thing I heard before I passed out was Dante calling my name.

When I woke up again, sunlight was streaming through the curtains.

I was in my bedroom in the Sicilian castle.

Dante was sitting by my bed, holding my hand.

The smile on her face was so serene, a look I'd never seen on her.It was like I'd never even existed.I had done so much.I'd threatened her father. Milan Fashion Week.I stood on the stage, looking out at the sea of faces. This was the global launch of my new brand, "Phoenix."Rising from the ashes. The name fit perfectly.Models walked the runway, adorned in my jewelry. Each piece glittered, full of life. The applause was deafening."Isabella! Isabella!"I smiled and bowed, a deep sense of accomplishment washing over me.And then I saw him.Lorenzo.He stood at the back of the crowd, a ghost in a thousand-dollar suit. It hung off his frame, and his eyes were hollowed-out pits of desperation.I felt nothing. He looked like a stranger. Was this man really once the center of my universe? Now he was just a pathetic, broken man.I looked away and continued with the press interviews."Miss Rossi, what was the inspiration for this collection?""Rebirth," I said, my smile genuine. "It's about having the courage to burn your old life to the ground so a new one can rise from the ashes."The launch was a mas
