Chapter 2

Author: Returning Moon
Stanley tightly held Sabrina Randall's hand while nervously asking the doctor, "Doctor, will this wound leave a scar? Are there any other precautions we need to take?"

The doctor's gaze shifted between the two of them. His expression was somewhat awkward.

As Stanley and Sabrina left the examination room, I overheard the doctor mutter quietly, "If his wife knew, she'd probably be devastated."

I had already been devastated so many times that I had become numb.

But I still had Lily, and Stanley was her father.

I floated to Stanley's side and coldly said, "Lily is upstairs. Go see her."

I knew full well that he couldn't hear me or see me. But I still stood in front of him, hoping against hope that he might hear me and go check on Lily.

But even as I shouted until my voice grew hoarse, nothing changed.

Sabrina tugged at Stanley's sleeve, "Maybe you should call Jaycee. She might actually be in trouble."

Stanley casually replied, "What trouble could she be in? She's probably just being dramatic to get my attention."

I saw a fleeting flash of triumph in Sabrina's eyes.

After that, Stanley took Sabrina home.

When the car stopped, my mind exploded.

How could Stanley let her stay here? This was my home, the place where I had lived in for over a decade and where my late parents had lived.

An accident killed them both, leaving me so deeply shaken that my mental health broke down. The doctor had suggested I change my surroundings, so this house remained vacant.

Stanley knew exactly how much this house meant to me.

Sabrina effortlessly entered the password and strode in confidently.

As soon as the door opened, a little girl came running out and clung to Sabrina's leg. "Mommy, are you okay now? Luckily, Daddy Stanley's here. Daddy Stanley, you're the best."

"Let me hold you." Stanley picked up the little girl.

The girl wrapped her arms around his neck, kissed his cheek, and cooed, "I love you the most, Daddy Stanley."

Stanley's eyes were filled with warmth as he smiled. "Hannah, do you love me more, or Mommy?"

Hannah Randall blinked, shifting her gaze between Sabrina and Stanley.

Stanley laughed heartily at her reaction. He spun her around before finally setting her down.

Meanwhile, Sabrina watched him the whole time. Her eyes were practically glued to him.

Her eyes turned red-rimmed as she sighed. "If I had married you back then, we wouldn't be…"

Stanley gently wiped her tears and softly comforted her, "That's all in the past. From now on, no matter what happens, I'll always be here for you."

Sabrina wrapped herself around him.

His body stiffened. He didn't embrace her, nor did he push her away.

"You have to keep your word," Sabrina muttered. "When I gave birth to Hannah, I almost died. At the edge of life and death, all I saw was your face."

Stanley comforted her again.

After a while, Sabrina pulled away and wiped her tears.

Seizing the moment, Stanley excused himself to use the bathroom. Once inside, he crouched down, frowning and clearly irritated.

His eyes were fixed on his phone, but he didn't make a move for a long time.

Curious, I glanced over.

The screen showed a chat with me.

The conversation remained frozen on a message I had sent two days ago.

Stanley stared at the last message I had sent him. "Sabrina again? Do you really have to be with her? I'm seven months pregnant. Aren't you worried I might die and lose our baby?"

Stanley prepared a grand wedding. But on the day of the ceremony, he abducted Hannah.Sabrina hadn't even had a chance to take off her wedding dress before she rushed to the abandoned building as agreed."Let Hannah go, Stanley. She's just a child. She's innocent," Sabrina pleaded."If you want to save your daughter, you'll have to risk everything." Stanley threw a lighter out of his hand. The fire spread quickly, and the smoke was so thick that it obscured everything.Sabrina broke free from the police and rushed into the flames.Standing amidst the fire, Stanley laughed madly. "You're right. We both deserve to die. We should all die with Jaycee."But Stanley's hope was shattered as they were saved. However, Sabrina suffered severe burns on her face. And Hannah, exposed to the thick smoke for too long, was left mentally impaired.Stanley was sentenced to over ten years for abduction and arson. When he was released from prison, he went to see Lily. I watched Stanley lose control with a cold gaze. I didn't actually feel a thing. The five-year-old he referred to was when we first met. I had been abducted by a group of criminals, and Stanley was one of the children held captive with me. He protected me as we escaped.Upon learning that he was an orphan, my family adopted him, and we grew up together for more than 20 years. But Sabrina's appearance shattered everything until I was consumed by the fire."Sign this and arrange for her cremation. Let Jaycee rest in peace." Harry handed over the body release form to Stanley, but his eyes never left me.Supporting himself against the iron bed, Stanley struggled several times before finally managing to stand up.He clutched my charred body, and his arms tightened around me."No, I won't let Jaycee be burned. She must be in so much pain. She must be so scared. Jaycee is mine. No one can touch her."Harry ignored Stanley's frenzy, calmly stating, "You've already killed Jaycee. Can't y

I let out a sneer, suddenly looking forward to the dogfight between Stanley and Sabrina. As expected, Sabrina got Stanley drunk that very night. She dressed in my clothes and mimicked my appearance to seduce him. When Stanley woke up and saw Sabrina lying next to him, it took him a moment to process what had happened.Sabrina shed her usual weak and innocent demeanor and used Stanley's company to threaten him.Since Stanley let his guard down around her, she managed to steal confidential information from his company. In exchange for the company's interests, he agreed to divorce me but firmly refused to marry her.He sent me a long voice message. "We'll get divorced first. I'll transfer the assets to your name. Once everything is sorted out, we'll remarry."Before he could get a reply from me, Harry arrived with Lily."Where's Jaycee?""You need to go identify Jaycee's body, or she can't be cremated."Both Stanley and Harry spoke at the same time.Stanley froze. His voice tre

Stanley ended the call and immediately dialed for a video call.On the screen, Lily's eyes were swollen from crying. Her tears fell without stopping."When Grandma passed away, Mommy told me Grandma became a star. Does that mean Mommy's gone too? Daddy, I'll never see Mommy again."Lily broke down into loud sobs.I floated beside Stanley, reaching out to gently stroke the screen where Lily appeared."Baby, don't cry. Becoming a star means I'll always be with you. Even when you become an old lady, I'll still be by your side."Stanley's face darkened as he frowned. "Tell your mom to pick up the phone. Don't think you can fool me with a photo like that."Lily didn't respond, only crying harder.Stanley's patience was running thin. He raised his voice, calling out, "Jaycee Hartman! Jaycee!"His voice grew louder, but there was no answer. His tone turned cold as he threatened me, "I'll give you three days, Jaycee. If you don't come back, I'll have Lily expelled. I mean it. Lily's

Stanley didn't arrive at the hospital until nightfall.By then, someone else was already at Lily's side—Harry Davidson.Lily seemed much better. There was a smile on her face, and she sounded excited. "Are you serious, Mr. Davidson? You'll really take me to see Mommy?"Harry hesitated before replying, "Your mom is at my house. But Lily, you need to get better first. If you're not well, your mom will be sad."Lily nodded enthusiastically. "I'll get better soon! I want to see Mommy!"Stanley's icy voice cut through the moment as he stormed across the room and grabbed Harry by the collar. "Where are you hiding Jaycee? Don't forget. She's my wife."Harry glared back and threw a hard punch. "You don't deserve to say her name. The biggest mistake I made was handing her to you.""Daddy!" Lily ran forward in a panic. "Mr. Davidson, don't hit Daddy! If you want to hit someone, hit me instead."Stanley shoved Lily away forcefully, sending her tumbling to the floor. He pointed at her and

I couldn't help but laugh bitterly.Just then, Stanley's phone rang. I leaned closer to see the screen. It was Emelia Schmidt, Lily's homeroom teacher. My chest tightened, and I held my breath.Emelia's voice came through the speaker. "Is this Lily Atkinson's dad?""Yes," Stanley replied. Before he could say more, Emelia's anxious words poured out, "You need to come to the school right away. Lily's been hurt badly, and I can't reach her mom.""Okay, I'll be right there." After a pause, Stanley cleared his throat and asked awkwardly, "Uh... Which class is Lily in again?"I hovered beside Stanley, desperate to see Lily. When I finally saw her, tears streamed down my face, and my entire being trembled.Lily was filthy, missing one shoe, and the bandage on her face was soaked with blood.Stanley frowned deeply. "What happened? How could your mom let this happen to you?"Lily's eyes welled up with tears as she grabbed his arm. "Daddy, you have to save Mommy! She told me to find y
