CHAPTER 102

LILIANA

As soon as we neared my old packhouse, I could not help but feel just a tad emotional.

The memories came flowing again.

I remembered playing along these streets with my bodyguard in tow, and sometimes Tony.

Who knew that little boy would grow up to be a monster?

“Are you ready? We are almost there.” Gerald said it as if it wasn’t obvious.

I didn’t answer. I was too preoccupied with the anger bubbling inside of me; it tasted like bile in my mouth.

“Liliana.” I felt his hand around mine, and I quickly pulled away.

“Don’t.”

He sighed.

“Look, it's not too late to go back. It's obvious you are upset. You are literally shaking.”

‘I am not upset. I am fine.” I said just as the SUV pulled up in front of the packhouse.

“Let’s go,” I whispered, putting on my mask of cold calm and pushing down my anger till I could no longer feel anything.

The car door opened, and I, Gerald, stepped out first and then stretched out my hand and helped me out of the car.

The party was already i

Chapter 105.Cassandra.The party was over the top. The palace halls screamed money. Even the courtyard where everything happened felt loaded with wealth. It was right up my alley.I stood right in the thick of it. A veil of gold lace hid me. My gown hung loose, two sizes too big. It was all a disguise. A mask. Tonight I was not Cassandra. Not the woman folks whispered about. Not the one they worried might mess up their schemes. No. Tonight I was nobody. Just another face lost in the crowd. I did not like it much. No one paid me any attention. But it was a needed trade-off.My eyes stayed sharp. Sharper than anyone else's there. I scanned the field, trying to pick up as much as I could. From across the room my gaze kept going back to Gerald. He seemed almost too relaxed. He stood with that woman next to him. She was not just any woman. The way she held onto him. The way her eyes darted with more than just nerves. It twisted my gut.

Chapter 104Gerald's pointThe night air hung heavy. It pressed on my chest like some weight I just couldn't shake. It wasn't every day I felt emotions this potent and strong. The graveyard stayed quiet. That silence felt alive, almost. It stretched out. I stood a few steps back from Liliana, watching her. She knelt right in front of her father's grave. Her veil fell forward. It draped like a curtain, hiding most of her face. Still, I caught the shine of tears sliding down her cheeks. I didn't have to see more to know she was falling apart. Her shoulders shook with those soft sobs. Each one cut into me like a knife. Gah, seeing her cry was… torture. The worst kind of torture. The kind of torture that broke one's soul.I hated it all. I hated seeing her break down in front of a stone that wouldn't ever talk back. I hated the ache growing in my chest. It tightened my throat. It made my fists clench again and again at my sides. Worst of all,

Chapter 103Liliana's POVThe moment Fiona stepped her foot into the party, the air shifted, the entire party standing still as if it were in the presence of a deity come to life. Gerald had been telling the truth about training her. She looked like an entirely different person. She was pretty before, but now…she looked ethereal. You wouldn't notice it unless you were paying close attention. The music kept playing, loud and bright like always. Voices chattered on, and laughter spilled out everywhere. The air hung thick with perfume and wine smells. Still, something in that room just tightened up a bit. My skin prickled all over. My stomach turned over. It was like the whole place held its breath or something. She looked beautiful in a blue gown. Delicate and doe-eyed, just like Tony liked. Every male wolf glanced in her direction almost immediately, and the she-wolves stared at her with jealousy or admiration. Some bothThen Tony spotted

Chapter 101 Liliana The mirror didn't recognize me. And, honestly, neither did I. I tilted my head left, then right, squinting at the face that stared back. The woman in the glass wasn't the Alpha's daughter who'd once run these halls. She wasn't the girl banished and branded a murderer. She wasn't even Liliana Crossfield anymore. "Too much?" I asked, tugging on a strand of deep auburn hair that fell heavy against my shoulder. It felt strange and itchy, like it was trying too hard to belong on my head. Gerald leaned against the doorway with his arms crossed, studying me like I was another one of his tactical puzzles. His expression gave away nothing, as usual. Just that steady, assessing look of his. "You don't look like you," he said at last. "That's the point." "Gee, thanks," I muttered, rolling my eyes. The auburn wig was only the start. Beneath it, Gerald's con

Chapter 100 Liliana The sun was just starting to peek over the horizon. But the training field buzzed with activity already. Fists slammed into dummies, thudding loud. Instructors barked sharp orders. Sweat mixed with dust in the air. And that faint wolf musk hung around everything, you know. Daliah sparred with Rita way over on the edge. They moved fast and precisely, like blurs. Landen had come back from his quick mission. He stretched his arms out, shaking off the stiffness. Mad still wasn't back, though. His absence hit me like an old bruise I didn't want to poke. I was swinging at a dummy when the air changed. Felt it right away. Gerald. Didn't even need to look. His gaze weighed heavy on me. I lowered my fists slowly. Heartbeat picked up. He'd promised details on Tony's coronation plan. Part of me dr
