Chapter 1

Author: Hans Golden
In my previous life, my Alpha mate buried me and my daughter alive as sacrifices to resurrect his first love. After being reborn, I personally took everything from him and sent him to hell!

Serafina Pike heard my words and grabbed Ethan Horn's arm while sobbing. "Ethan, since the Luna refuses, let's not force her. It's not her responsibility, after all."

This sentence seemed to hurt Ethan. He looked at me angrily. "Who said this isn't her responsibility? Four years ago, if she hadn't used the fact that she saved my mother to make me repay her for her kindness, my mom wouldn't have forcibly separated us and prevented you from being my Luna!"

Feeling exhausted, I forced a wry smile. "Ethan, when your mom was alive, she told you herself that she never stopped you from being with Serafina because of me!"

Ethan's mother, Maria Fallon, had strongly opposed Ethan and Serafina's relationship at that time.

In a fit of rage and humiliation, Serafina accidentally pushed Maria into a pond sprinkled with silver powder during their argument. Fortunately, I was gathering herbs for Maria at the time and managed to save her with a purification potion in time.

Grateful for my kindness and eager to completely eliminate Serafina's hope, Maria asked me to marry Ethan and become his mate. She had explained it to Ethan countless times, but he refused to believe her, stubbornly believing it was a lie that his mother fabricated to side with me.

Thankfully, after we had our daughter, Lily Horn, Ethan stopped talking about it. He seemed to pull himself together, and we lived a peaceful life.

I thought our peaceful days would continue, but on this night, Serafina barged into our manor, kneeling and begging me to save her brother, Leo Pike.

Her appearance rekindled Ethan's old feelings.

He claimed I owed it to her and forced me to jump into Shadow River, a place that even the Alpha feared.

"Clara, my mother treated you like her own daughter. I know she came up with those lies to make me treat you well! I've been kind to you all these years, just as you all wished. Now, I'm just giving you a chance to make amends. Are you refusing to do it?"

Looking at his stubbornness, I knew any explanation would be futile. Maria had been kind to me, and I wanted her to rest in peace in the Moon Goddess' realm. I patiently persuaded him for the last time, "Ethan, please trust me this once. I'll go anywhere, but I can't save anyone in Shadow River!"

Serafina stiffened for a moment, a flash of panic crossing her face. However, she quickly composed herself and continued to cry in front of Ethan. "Ethan, it's all because we were too close in the past. It's only natural for Clara to worry about me threatening her position as the Luna. Forget it. As a woman, I understand how she feels. Just stop pushing her."

Ethan already felt guilty toward Serafina, and now that he had a chance to make amends, how could he let it go so easily?

Seeing my resolution, he grabbed our daughter by the neck. His eyes were filled with pain and determination as he looked at me. Even his voice trembled. "Clara, get in the water right now! Don't make me force you! I'm warning you. If you give up saving Leo, I'll kill Lily and let her die with Leo!"

My heart skipped a beat.

Lily's face flushed red from being strangled. She looked at me in horror. "Mom, why is Dad trying to kill me? Mom, save me! I'm in so much pain."

The scene slowly merged with the desperate scene I remembered.

In my previous life, Ethan believed the witch's words, convinced that sacrificing his kin's blood could bring back the soul of a loved one. Thus, he pierced our daughter's limbs with silver nails and nailed her to death in a coffin right in front of me.

That day, my daughter fearfully asked her father why he was killing her. She cried and begged me to save her, but I was powerless as my limbs had been severed.

Fortunately, there was still time this time.

Since Ethan refused to listen, I would let him be. I only needed to protect myself and my daughter in this life.

I pulled out a stack of documents I had prepared in advance and handed them to Ethan. "I can save Leo, but you'll have to sign these first."

Ethan hesitated, and I calmly explained, "Shadow River is the Moon Goddess' domain. Rescuing someone from her clutches is extremely dangerous. This is the rule of the Spirit Soothers. Before entering the water, the client must sign this soul oath and burn the request to the Moon Goddess, seeking her forgiveness."

They knew nothing of these ancient secrets, so they could not tell the truth from falsehood. That was why I could make up lies so easily.

Seeing Ethan's skepticism, Serafina cried and urged, "Ethan, it's just a formality. Sign the papers. My brother will truly be dead if we delay."

Distracted from having to soothe Serafina, Ethan hastily signed his name without even glancing at the stack of documents.

I retreated to the river's edge and secretly pulled out the two documents at the bottom, handing them to my personal assistant, Alva. "Take this Mate Bond Dissolution Application and this Severance of Blood Ties and have them stamped at the Council of Elders."

The scene I witnessed at the bottom of the river in my previous life was still vivid in my mind, and it sent chills down my spine.

The price was too heavy. My daughter and I could not bear it...

It was recorded in the ancient scroll that there was only one way to crack this life-exchange formation. That was to swap the identities of the caster and the victim and restart the formation. Only in this way could the formation be completely broken. However, the price was that both participants had to die.In other words, even if Ethan had not killed Leo, he would not survive tonight.Ethan looked at me in terror and asked in disbelief, "So, you knew from the very beginning that I would die?"I shrugged my shoulders. "Yeah. You've hurt me for so long. Why should I still save you?"Ethan laughed out of extreme agony. "Then, why did you still agree to marry me?"I picked up the mate bond agreement and shook it. "For this, of course. Only when I'm your legitimate Luna again can everything the Glory Pack owns belong to me and Lily."Ethan knew he was dying, so he stopped being furious. Instead, he calmly asked, "Clara, I know you're not someone who craves wealth and power. Why are

This time, the Moon Goddess probably took pity on my misfortune and did not make things difficult for me again. She might also be disgusted with Ethan's current state, so she refused to take him in.In short, I pulled him out smoothly.…The next day, Serafina came to the door with the pack's warriors.Ethan had regained his youth overnight, which made her understand everything at once. She wanted to stop us before Leo's and Ethan's identities were completely reversed. Fortunately, I was well-prepared.The elders in the village rushed forward immediately, subduing them and imprisoning them in the cellar. They cried for help, but no one responded.Ethan regained his appearance and identity, taking control of the Glory Pack again. However, he was smarter this time. The first thing he did was to beat Leo and Serafina to death with a wooden stick soaked in wolf venom.Even so, he was still not at ease. He invited another dark wizard to dismember their corpses into eight pieces, pla

Three days later, I left with Lily and Alva while Ethan was kicked out of the manor. The world knew nothing about this. All that they knew was that the Alpha of the Glory Pack had argued with the Luna, and she had gone back to her hometown.Ethan became Leo, a loser whom everyone detested. The debt collectors chased him and even broke his legs. However, I still went to see him for the last time and gave him some money. His dim eyes suddenly lit up again as he gripped my leg, refusing to let go. “Clara, you remember me, don't you?”Without hiding anything from him, I nodded and answered, "Yes. Apart from Leo and Serafina, who performed the formation, perhaps only I still remember you."Ethan smiled. "I knew you wouldn't forget me. My mother used to say that true love could overcome all magic. It's true!"I sneered, "Don't get me wrong. This has nothing to do with love."I waved my injured left hand and explained, "I remember you because my blood seeped into the formation that da

Early the next morning, the commotion outside woke up Lily and me.I asked Alva, who had just come in with water, what had happened. She snorted disdainfully. "Luna, Leo has lost his mind. He's telling everyone he meets that he's the Alpha. The Alpha is handsome and powerful. How could an ugly bastard like him pretend to be him?I immediately realized what had happened. I told Alva to take good care of Lily and went out alone.A disheveled Ethan saw me and rushed in front of me as if he had grasped a lifeline. He shook my shoulders nonstop. "Clara, has everyone in the manor been bribed by Leo? Why do they call him Alpha but call me Mr. Leo?"I pushed him away and calmly explained, "This is the reality I said you'd have to face. Leo has swapped fates with you. From now on, he's Alpha Ethan of the Glory Pack. Whether it's pack members, outsiders, or even Lily, they won't recognize you anymore. You're Leo to them."Ethan did not believe me and eagerly grabbed a passing servant, tryi

I smiled and asked Serafina, "I promised you that I would never interfere in your affairs. But I'm indeed a bit curious. If you don't mind, can I have a look?"Serafina nodded. "Once this formation is activated, there's no turning back. Even if Ethan knows the truth, it'll still be too late to change the situation. Besides, as a woman, I actually feel sorry for you. You should explain to him and let him know what's going on."I arrived at the room he was in.Ethan lay on the cold ground. No servant dared to approach him. After I approached, Serafina dismissed everyone and gave us some space to be alone.Although I had heard of dark magic like life exchange, this was the first time I had witnessed it with my own eyes. I thought that I could remain calm in the face of anything after seeing so much about life and death. I never expected Ethan's current appearance to make me shiver involuntarily. He lay on his side on the ground, his body curled up into a ball. His jet-black hair had

Serafina was a little hesitant. "How do I know you won't play tricks behind my back?"I chuckled bitterly. "You saw with your own eyes how Ethan treats me and Lily. Serafina, would you stay by his side if you were me?"Serafina recalled Ethan's indifference and nodded. "Alright, I'll trust you this time. As long as you don't sabotage our plan, I promise to let you and your daughter go without stopping you."In fact, Leo was not Serafina's younger brother at all. He was the new mate she found after she left Ethan. Leo's fall into the river was not an accident either. Instead, it was a carefully planned transaction with the Moon Goddess.Ancient scrolls recorded that Shadow River was the only communication channel between werewolves and the Moon Goddess. The river water was the medium that could convey the werewolves' sacrifices to the Moon Goddess, so the ritual had to be carried out in the water. In my previous life, I found a sacrificial altar set up at the bottom of the river w
