Caro woke up early, boiled some rice and sauce, then matched to Henry's room but he was still sleeping. She stood there for a moment, staring at him. A pitch of pity stung her. Poor child with a bad mother, but she doesn't have any option. She wouldn't be there for him anymore.
She dropped the meal at his table, planted a kiss on his forehead and rushed out for her appointment with Mr Albert. Didn't bother to check on Alex and Bella.
Few hours later, she arrived a luxury boutique with Mr Albert. They halted at the receptionist desk.
"Caro, here's an official company card for you. Your name is on it as you can see. Enough money is inside, as much as four million dollars. I want to use the rest room. Please go ahead and buy everything you need." Mr Albert walked away.
"Four million dollars?" Caro's eyes rolled back into her head. she climbed upstairs to the women's section, following the receptionist directions.
She stepped inside the room, eyes widening, breath catching. Gleaming chandeliers glowed overhead as her fingers swept across silk gowns, jeweled clutches, tailored coats, and shimmering heels, luxury, whispering wealth in every detail. The room smelled hints of sandalwood and soft musk wrapped the air, turning the boutique into a cocoon of quiet luxury.
A poised attendant glided beside her, dressed immaculately in black, guiding her through the racks with a practiced smile and hands that moved like velvet.
She picked a beaded glittering dress from the rack and held it against herself before the mirror. Caro smiled whole heartedly, never dreamed she could ever touch such a beautiful elegant dress, not to even own it.
She handed it over to the attendant and walked to pick another one.
Sadly, another female attendant walked in, seeing caro, she quickly halted her hand with a cool authority that eclipsed the first attendant, her presence sharp, almost bossy.
"You cannot afford that. The dress you're about to pick is our latest collection, PLT 087. Not for poor people like you. Specially reserved for some high persons." The second attendant slammed her.
Caro felt embarrassed. The rude behavior of this attendant made her heart ache. "Is this blw you treat your customers?"
"No honey, but we don't recognize you as one. I think you want to steal this dress. I know exactly your type. How can you afford that dress that worth sixty five thousand dollars?"
Hearing that made Caro's stomach churn. She took out her card and showed it to her. "I have enough money to shop for myself, inside this card, I have more than two million dollars. Go ahead and check it."
The second attendant froze instantly, recognized the personal card as D&C telecommunications. But instead she slapped and accused Caro of fraud. "How did you get that card? You are not only a thief but you are fraudulent."
"How dare you lay your hands on me? saying such about me?" Caro shut back angrily, tears clouded in her eyes.
Unexpectedly, Alex and Bella pulled the door open. Their jaw dropped bumping into Caro in such place.
"What are you doing here and when did you left the house?" Alex asked curiously.
" Oh! No. Poor caro, don't tell me you've come here to embarrass yourself."
The second attendant seeing Bella, rushed to her immidiately and exchanged pleasantries, addressing her as their regular customer, then walked her to the racks to make a selection from the most expensive section.
"I have an appointment tomorrow. I'm about to sign the biggest deal of my life in a company I've been applying to. Finally they're inviting me tomorrow. I need something stunning and lavishly astounding."
"Congratulations ma'am, I'm so happy for you." the second attendant added, smiling like she's won a lottery.
"Please go home now, let me sort any mess you've caused here. Do you know where you are and where did you get money to buy a piece from here?" Alex said to Caro. His chuckle were worst than the words itself.
The second attendant snapped in. "I was right after all. I knew it. Now I need to call the security to throw her out immidiately."
Now voices are loud upstairs. The receptionist informed the Manager on phone immediately.
Just in, Mr Patrick walked into the scenario.
"What is going on here?"
"Thank goodness you're here Mr Patrick. This lady here needs to be arrested for using your company's card as fraud. Check it out." She quickly snatched the card from Caro and handed it over to Patrick.
Before Patrick could utter a word. The door creeped open. A tall, charming young woman in her late thirties stepped in. Her presence speaks power. Everywhere went silent.
" May I know what the fuss is all about?"
Caro still clutching her cheeks from the thunderous slap, took up the answer. " Your, staff just harassed me. I came here to shop peacefully, but your worker just disrespected and ruined my day. What she's just done to me is totally unacceptable."
"Oh! my God, I apologize about this." The manager pleaded to Carl and spun to the second female attendant. "What have you done? Before things get more messy. You're fired!"
The second attendant collapsed to her knees and started weeping. The manager turned to Patrick and apologized to him. "Please don't report this to the president. I'm totally unaware of this."
Patrick handed the card back to Caro, walked toward the right and sat on a couch looking really disappointed. Alex and Bella still yet to understand the whole thing, just standing, glaring, waiting on the moment.
Caro picked more cute dresses, high quality shoes and bags just as enough as she needed. She took out the card which Patrick has returned to her, handed it to the manager. Total shopped items amounting to two hundred and fifty thousand dollars. Bella stared at Alex and then to the Manager.
"There's no way she can afford that ma'am."
"We'd see to that dear." The manager replied softly, then swiftly processed the transaction and debited the total for her selections. And handed the neatly packed items to Caro.
Alex felt the world was shifting under his feets. Figures blurring in his front, as he shut his eyes and breathed. The second attendant, still on her knees, eyes widened while she pleaded for a second chance.
"Security! Climb to the first floor and get this thing out of here." The manager yelled over the phone.
Two uniformed men banged the door open and took the attendant away as her voice echoed through the chaos.
"Please wait for me in the car." Albert said to Caro handing the car keys over to her.
The manager hurriedly approached Albert. "Please don't inform the president about what happened here today. I might loose my job."
"Put your staffs to manners. The president had this all planned out before executing and they want to ruin his plans."
"I will do just that sir. Thanks alot."
Albert stormed out, joining Caro in the car.
"Come to the company by 2 pm to review the work contract."
"Okay sir. I appreciate your kindness alot."
"I don't think I'm the right person to say that to, reserve that for the president."
Caro felt a bit tensed and faked a smile.

Caro being stressed enough already, decided to stop by her aunt's place, her mother's sister, Mrs Antonia Jacob.Immidiately she knocked on the door. Antonia opened last though she'd been waiting for her."Why are you here again? You shameless girl. And what did I hear you display at media house over Alex and Bella?"Caro stood frozen. Staring at her and lips shaking. "Aunt I think you should let me speak.""Shut up! You knew well that Bella's father is my business partner, and if he sees the stunt you played out there, he would terminate his contract with me, knowing you are my niece! How could you want to fight Bella, and Alex rescued the situation.""Aunt ....""Keep quiet. Now listen to me. You'll go back there and apologize to Alex and Bella, if only you want to stay in this house. Else..."Her daughter christable, surfaced through her back, striking me a disgusting stare, carrying the plate of food she was eating."I cannot apologize to Alex. Sorry. " caro cut in, buckled up, sl
Few days passed.Alex and Caro lived like strangers inside the house. She never stopped taking care of Henry. But no more wife duties for Alex. That morning, her fingers ran through her closet, searching for a suitable outfit to wear but found none. For the past five years she's been with Alex, he doesn't care about her. She couldn't even boast of one good dress, shoe or bag.Tears almost dropped out of her eyes. She swallowed hard. Bella had left that night after mocking her, Alex did nothing either. She needed to plan out a sweet revenge but how?On the spot, her fingers caught an old pink silky dress. A gift from her late mother. She fits it on her body, glaring at herself on the mirror. It didn't look new anymore but that could be a perfect one judging from her closet.Few days back, she had submitted her CVS in few companies waiting for a call back. Alex stopped her from working when they met, she accepted because she loved him but not any more! She's going back to her normal li
Then the front door swung open without knocking, and without shame not even fear.Bella walked in like she owned the place.Caro who's already ran down stairs waiting.Bella stood in the centre of the sitting room, glancing around the interiors like she was making sure Alex bought exactly her taste like she'd assigned him to.Her lipstick too red, heels too high for the hour, clutching designer bags and wearing a smirk like armor.“ Excuse me?” Caro said, stepping out from behind the counter. “What are you doing here?” Bella barely glanced at her and kept walking to her position. “ Relax. I’m not here for you.”“You don’t live here,” Caro said sharply, blocking her from walking further. “You can’t just barge in like this.”Bella tilted her head with exaggerated offense. “Why? Am I not allowed to visit my son anymore? Or check on my ex-lover? Or do I need your permission for that too?”The words slapped Caro with cold contempt. She straightened her back. “A mother doesn’t abandon her s
The words Alex had sent in her phone felt like handcuffs tightening around Caro's chest.'There is no divorce. You belong to me.'Just like that! Possessive. The words weren’t born from confusion or desperation. They came from certainty, from a man who never questioned his right to control. She scrolled up and read the line again, just above it. "I won’t give you what you asked for."Caro’s lips trembled. Not because she was shocked anymore but because those words struck a darker truth: he didn’t see her as a person. Not a woman, not a wife, not a mother. Just something he owned. A fixture in his home. A name on his lease. Someone to clean, feed, keep quiet, and stay. She swallowed hard and tossed the phone to the foot of the bed, where the photos still lay like pieces of a life she no longer wanted to remember. And then, just as she inhaled to steady herself, a sound echoed. The distant whirr of iron wheels dragging over tile. Her stomach dropped.Henry.He was coming.Caro quickly w
Alex felt as if a part of him just left him, he quickly rushed upstairs to the direction caro went. Her room.He needed to get his full control back. He's already feeling like he's lost her forever, even when she's still in the house. And what does she meant by divorce?Never! He needed to scream and scare her so she could tremble and dance to his command, erasing those plans from her head. Caro had met Alex when she was about graduating in school. Caro has a soft and sweet heart that she took pity on Henry, a little boy on a wheel chair at BMS children playground. She saw how he was struggling to get a hold of his balloon that slipped away from his hand and she couldn't keep her eyes away, she helped grabbed and retuned it to him. Henry was about three years old, his smile were too cute that caro sat on the grass and started gisting with him, also asking after his guardian but Henry didn't say anything meaningful. Henry felt homely and so happy to the extent that he didn't want her
