Chapter 4

Rebecca's POV

The next morning, I headed to Payton Corporation's legal department, where I submitted all the blueprints and draft proposals I had done for Caleb's company over the past eight years.

"I want to sue Caleb Greene's company, Innotech Group, for infringing on my intellectual property rights. I also want to recover every last unpaid design fee from them, with interest."

The chief counsel looked through the concrete evidence and nodded. "Rest assured, Ms. Sutton. We'll accept this case.

"I guarantee that we'll make Innotech Group go bankrupt with the amount of compensation they'll have to pay."

That afternoon, Jonathan and I went to the bridal shop so that I could find my wedding dress.

Jonathan, who had booked out the entire store, lounged on a couch as he watched me try on designer dress after designer dress.

He never showed the slightest hint of impatience and even occasionally gave tasteful suggestions.

"This mermaid dress accentuates your charm, and when paired with that blue sapphire necklace, it's nothing but perfect."

I stared at myself in the mirror, suddenly realizing how foolish I had been to reduce myself to a haggard housewife, all for the sake of cooking and caring for Caleb.

After I was done picking out my dress, Jonathan handed me a list of names.

"This is the guest list. Take a look and let me know if any changes are necessary."

Sweeping a glance over the list, I immediately spotted Caleb's name on the very first page.

A small smirk curved Jonathan's lips as he looked at me.

"As Innotech Group is one of the companies Payton Corporation has been looking to invest in, Mr. Greene would be present as well. You won't mind, will you, Ms. Sutton?"

I handed the list back to him. "No, I don't mind. In fact, not only do I want to invite him to our wedding, but I also want him to sit at the main table."

Third-Person POV

Three days later, at Innotech Group's CEO's office, Caleb smashed his ashtray after he finished reading through the court summons he had received.

"Rebecca, that bitch! She actually dared to sue me!"

Yelena, who just so happened to enter with a cup of coffee for him, jumped in shock. "What's wrong, Mr. Greene?"

Gritting his teeth, Caleb replied, "Not only did she freeze my card, but she's suing me for infringement of intellectual property rights and demanding three million dollars as compensation. Where the hell did she get the money to hire Payton Corporation's legal team?"

A sly glint entered Yelena's eyes. "Mr. Greene, Rebecca is clearly trying to force you to submit to her. The reason she's doing this is clear, isn't it? It's all to gain your attention! You know how it is with women, always playing those emotional manipulation tactics."

Caleb sucked in a deep breath, thinking that she made sense.

"You're right. She's a stupid woman whose brain is filled with nothing but love and romance. What sort of trouble could she possibly cause?

"I'm going to ignore her and leave her to her antics. Once she's had enough of throwing a tantrum and realized that I'm not giving her any attention at all, she'll naturally come crawling back to me to beg for forgiveness."

At that moment, the receptionist came in with an envelope. "Mr. Greene, you have an invitation."

Caleb took the envelope and tossed it onto the table without even glancing at it. "Which nouveau riche is getting married now?"

Curious, Yelena leaned over to take a look, her hand instantly flying up to clamp over her mouth.

"Mr. Greene… the bride… the bride is Rebecca!"

Hearing that, Caleb leaped from his seat and snatched up the invitation to see for himself.

There, printed clearly on the cover of the invitation was the name "Rebecca Sutton".

As for the groom, it was someone named "Jonathan P".

Caleb didn't give another thought to who the groom could be before he slammed a fist onto his table.

"For the sake of forcing me into acquiescing to her demands, she's even pretending to get married?"

Beside him, Yelena eagerly added fuel to the fire.

"Mr. Greene, Rebecca is taking it way too far! She's treating marriage like a game! Doing this is no different from humiliating you, isn't it? If this were to get out, what would other people think of you?"

Caleb scoffed coldly, his eyes shining with disdain. "As if she could possibly find any sort of good man. I bet he's probably some random guy she hired off the streets to help her with this act. Does she think shaming me at the wedding is going to make me change my mind? Well, in her dreams!"

With that, he ripped up the invitation and tossed it in the trash.

"Tell Kevin to attend the wedding with me tomorrow. I'm dying to see how Rebecca intends to resolve this circus act of hers! I'm going to reveal her act in front of everyone so that she'll be utterly humiliated!"

The next day, at Senna Manor, scores of luxury cars and security guards were everywhere.

Caleb had brought Kevin and Yelena along with him, only for them to be stopped outside the gates.

"Sir, please show your e-invitation," the security guard said with a blank expression.

Upon hearing that, Caleb frowned. "What e-invitation? I only received a physical one. Do you have any idea who I am? I'm the bride's ex-fiance!"

The security guard spoke into his walkie-talkie briefly, and only after confirming that it was okay did he allow them to pass.

Kevin glanced around them, taking in the decorations, and couldn't help but click his tongue.

"Caleb, this is way too extravagant, isn't it? Booking this manor for a day costs at least six figures. Where did Rebecca even get that much money?"

Caleb snorted. "She must have rented this place to put on a show. How much money could she possibly have when I've stopped giving her an allowance?"

Yelena, who was hanging from Caleb's arm, cooed, "That's right! I bet even her wedding dress is a cheap rental. Mr. Greene, you need to teach her a good lesson later. Make her understand just what fate awaits her if she leaves you."

They entered the banquet hall, which was even more lavish than the outside. Every single person milling about was also a prominent figure in the business industry.

The more Caleb looked around, the more he realized that something was off, especially when he spotted a few bank managers whom he couldn't get a meeting with even if he begged them on his knees.

"These paid actors are a bit too realistic, aren't they?" Kevin gulped.

Suddenly, all lights in the hall dimmed as a spotlight focused on the revolving staircase on the second floor.

Clad in a designer wedding dress that cost millions of dollars, Rebecca slowly made her way down the steps.

The diamonds adorning her dress gleamed dazzlingly, almost seeming to stab right into Caleb's eyes, and he couldn't tear his gaze away from her as his breathing sped up.

"Rebecca…"

Just as he was about to charge forward and confront her, the emcee's voice blared through the venue.

"Now, let us give a round of applause to welcome our groom—the chairman of Payton Corporation, Jonathan Payton!"

Thunderous applause rang out, rattling the windows.

Caleb abruptly froze in his tracks, his eyes widening as he spotted the man stepping out of the shadows to walk over to Rebecca and smoothly wrap an arm around her waist.
