I was looking over a blueprint when Mom called me.

"Becca, that bastard has been kneeling outside for two hours now. Our neighbors are having a field day over this. Should we call the police?"

Setting down the blueprint, I replied in a cold tone, "No need. Just let him kneel there. It's about to rain, so make sure to close the windows tightly, okay? Don't allow the noise to disturb your sleep."

After I ended the call, Jonathan entered the study with a glass of warm milk.
