INFORMATION RECON

The morning light was just beginning to hit Sloane's apartment floor when her phone chimed with an unusual, low-pitched pulse. She reached for it, expecting another location pin at a boutique or hotel lounge. Instead, the screen displayed a sparse, minimalist profile card with a dark gray question mark where the map usually lived.

Sloane sat up in bed, her eyes narrowing at the screen. "No map tracking? Really?" The System was making her work for this one. She did not know who Theodore Whitmore was or why the LUS app cared about him, but her balance was sitting at $554.29, and she had no intention of slowing her momentum.

She pulled open her laptop. Ten minutes of clever social media digging and public registry searches gave her everything she needed. Theodore Whitmore was a rising financial advisor for the city's ultra-wealthy, loved flaunting his designer watches on business profiles, and habitually took his 1:00 PM espresso meeting at a sleek financial district cafe called Monarch. Sloane smiled, closing her laptop. "Game on."

At precisely 1:15 PM, Sloane glided into Monarch. She spotted him immediately sitting at a corner marble table, sporting a tailored navy suit and checking his gold watch while scrolling on an iPad. Sloane adjusted her purse strap, waited until he stood up to return his espresso cup, and executed a flawless, graceful "accidental" bump near the condiment bar.

"Oh! Excuse me," Sloane said, taking a small step back, her eyes lighting up with playful surprise.

Theodore turned, ready to look annoyed, but his expression instantly melted the moment he took in her polished appearance and dazzling smile. "No harm done at all. Entirely my fault."

"I was distracted," Sloane admitted, tilting her head with a teasing smirk. "I usually do not bump into handsome men until after my second cup of coffee."

Theodore laughed, his posture perking up instantly. He ran a hand through his carefully styled hair, clearly delighted. "Well, let me make it up to you. Can I buy you that second cup, or better yet, get your number? I'm Theodore, by the way."

"Sloane," she replied smoothly, taking a step closer and letting her eyes linger on his with effortless confidence. "I will give you my number under one condition, Theodore."

He blinked, caught off guard by how naturally her voice carried his name. "What is this condition?"

"Take me out to dinner tonight," she said softly, leaning in just enough for him to catch her subtle perfume. "I do not do rainchecks."

Theodore let out a sharp, appreciative laugh. "You do not play around, do you? I actually have a client dinner scheduled for tonight, but..." He pulled out his phone, tapping the screen with a confident smirk. "I will push them to tomorrow. If you are serious, meet me at L'Etoile at eight o'clock."

"I am always serious," Sloane purred with a sweet smile. "See you at eight, Theodore."

By 7:45 PM, Sloane was stepping out of a cab in front of L'Etoile, one of the most expensive fine-dining establishments in the city. She wore a sleek, midnight-blue silk slip dress paired with her brand-new crimson-bottomed heels from Maison de Luxe. Her hair fell in loose, luxurious waves, and she looked like she owned every room she walked into.

Sloane still had no idea why the System had targeted Theodore Whitmore, but as she walked inside, she reminded herself to trust the app's strange logic. It had not steered her wrong yet.

The hostess led her to a prime corner booth where Theodore was already waiting, sipping a glass of vintage scotch. When he saw her approach, he practically stumbled over himself to stand up and pull out her chair.

"You look absolutely stunning, Sloane," Theodore said, his eyes scanning her dress as she sat down.

"Thank you. And you do not look so bad yourself," she added gracefully, settling into the rich leather booth.

The date was effortless on her end because Theodore made it incredibly easy. He was a classic, unabashed bragger. From the moment the bread basket arrived to the middle of their second course, Theodore barely paused for breath, using every opportunity to drop subtle, and not so subtle, hints about his lifestyle.

"I usually do not take dates to places like this unless I know they appreciate the finer things," Theodore said, casually swirling his wine. "I cleared mid-seven figures last year, so I like to enjoy my hard work. I just picked up the new Porsche GT3 last week, actually."

Sloane leaned on her elbows, placing her chin in her hands with an expression of rapt attention, hiding her internal eye-roll. "Impressive. You must manage some very powerful people to hit numbers like that."

Theodore preened under her attention, puffing out his chest. "Oh, absolutely. I manage portfolios for the top one percent in this city. Tech moguls, real estate titans, corporate raiders." He leaned in closer, dropping his voice to a conspiratorial whisper as if sharing a top-secret clearance code. "In fact, I just signed my biggest whale yet last month. I am handling the personal wealth management for Brett Thorne himself."

Sloane froze for a microsecond, her heart giving a sudden, violent thump against her ribs. Brett Thorne. The heavy atmosphere of the restaurant seemed to fade into background noise as the realization hit her like a lightning bolt.

Theodore was not just another random Tier 1 finance guy with a big ego. He was Brett Thorne's personal financial advisor. He had direct access to the man, his schedule, his preferences, and his inner circle. That was why the LUS System had sent her here. The app had given her the back door straight to her ultimate target.

A slow, brilliant smile spread across Sloane's lips as she took a small sip of her wine, looking at Theodore with entirely new eyes. "Brett Thorne?" Sloane murmured softly, her tone dripping with fascination. "My goodness, Theodore... you really are far more impressive than I thought."

Theodore grinned, totally oblivious to the trap snapping shut around him, completely thrilled with her reaction.

By the end of the night, Theodore insisted on paying the astronomical bill without a second thought. As they parted ways outside the restaurant with a polite promise to text him soon, Sloane stepped into her rideshare home. The moment she closed the car door, her phone vibrated with a long, satisfying buzz in her purse.

Sloane stared down at the screen, a breathless laugh escaping her lips. $873.04. She leaned back against the headrest, looking out at the city lights.

She finally had her leverage, she had a solid bank balance building back up, and Theodore Whitmore was going to hold the door wide open for her straight to Brett Thorne.

The morning before the Metropolitan Hospital Charity Gala, Sloane sat at her kitchen counter with a fresh cup of coffee, opening the LUS System app.Now that she had officially crossed into Tier 2, a sleek new icon sat at the top corner of her dashboard: TARGET DOSSIERS.Sloane tapped it. The screen transformed into a high-tech intelligence layout. She typed Brett Thorne into the search bar, holding her breath as the loading ring spun once, twice, and then expanded into a comprehensive profile.[ TARGET DOSSIER: BRETT THORNE ]Rank: Tier 4 (Ultra-High Net Worth / Corporate Titan)Status: Single (Recently Unattached)Known Behavioral Traits: Dominant, highly analytical, easily bored by overt flattery, values poise, sharp intellect, and women who project effortless status.[ TACTICAL INSIGHT ]Target reacts strongly to dynamic tension. • CASH FLOW SYSTEM   THE DRESS

Sloane woke up late the following morning, stretching lazily across her king-sized mattress as sunlight filtered through the sheer curtains. Her mind immediately drifted back to the night before, to the low, raspy drawl of Cowboy Dale, the dark intensity in his amber eyes, and the sheer electric rush of taking control.God, I wonder what he’s like in real life, Sloane thought, staring up at the ceiling with a lazy, wicked smirk. Bet he’s even better in person. Then, she caught herself, letting out a sharp chuckle and shaking her head."Stop it, Sloane," she muttered aloud, sitting up and pulling her hair into a messy bun. "He’s a cam model. His name is probably Gary, his accent is entirely manufactured for southern charm tokens, and he probably lives in a basement in Ohio."Still, the fantasy had served its purpose. She felt confident, energized, and ready to tackle the physical prep for the Metropolitan Hospital Charity Gala. She checked her phone. Her account balance was sitting at

  • CASH FLOW SYSTEM   TIER 2

Unlike her previous targets, whom Sloane had happily ditched the moment her System balance updated, Theodore Whitmore was a long-term investment. For three days following their dinner at L’Etoile, Sloane kept the conversation flowing over text. It took effort. Theodore was an exhausting communicator. He was constantly sending photos of his luxury steering wheel, complaining about market volatility, or casually mentioning how much his gym membership cost.Yet, as much as his arrogance made her roll her eyes, Sloane had to admit something irritating: if you muted his mouth, the man was undeniably attractive. He had broad shoulders, sharp blue eyes, and a neat, clean-cut jawline that made standing next to him genuinely pleasant. On Thursday afternoon, a courier knocked on her apartment door, delivering a massive, cascading arrangement of rare white orchids in a heavy crystal vase.Sloane set the heavy vase on her counter, pulling out the small card.Thinking of you. - T.Her phone buzzed
