Chapter 12: Refined Scoundrel

Elaine stood by the roadside, feeling uncertain. Just then, a white BMW approached and passed by her, but then abruptly stopped and reversed back in front of her. The car window rolled down, revealing the handsome face of a man.

"Miss Smith?" he asked.

Elaine didn't recognize him. The man stepped out of the car, wearing a white shirt and black trousers. He had a tall and straight figure, with a pair of gold-rimmed glasses on his face. His slightly curly black hair exuded an intellectual aura.

He extended his hand, revealing long and slender fingers with neatly trimmed nails, and smiled as he introduced himself, "I am a friend of your cousin's, Calvin Jones."

Elaine had no recollection of him but shook his hand out of politeness.

"It seems that Miss Smith doesn't recognize me," Calvin said with a clean laugh.
