To camouflage the fear welling up within her, Asa attempted to regain her composure and initiated a conversation. "You are my husband, and I have the privilege of seeing you every day at home," she said, putting on a brave face and struggling to keep her voice steady.

She added quickly, trying to steer the conversation away from her late arrival, "Although, I must admit, you rarely stay at home." She folded her arms defensively and looked away, avoiding his piercing gaze.
