They said their goodbyes and got into the car. "What does my father want?"

Eric pulled out of the entry lane and focused on the road in front of him. "He was concerned about having to pay for the wedding."

Guilt attacked her in strangulation. She completely forgot about the cost of the wedding. Of course, her father might have assumed he would pay, even though this was a different era. Sweat beaded on her forehead. "So what did you tell him?"

Eric glanced at her. "I refused to let him pay, and told him I would and after a year I would accept his money back. And since this was our hasty wedding decision, so I insisted I had to pay the bills So we made a deal. He would pay for his and her brother's tuxedo. I pay for the womenswear - including yours - and all the rest of the ladies of the wedding."

She let her breath escape quickly and studied him in the oncoming floodlight. His face remained expressionless, but his actions touched her heart. "Thanks," she said softly.
