[ Stephen ]

“Drive to the Gibson Square.” I instructed my driver.

“Gibson Square? But it is in the opposite direction of your work place, Sir.” My driver interrogated me since I hardly went to the opposite side of the city where I had not much work.

“I am meeting someone there.” I replied and he nodded.

The car took the opposite turn from my workplace. Many thoughts along with some old and bitter memories kept reeling in my mind.

It was still painful for me to remember the time which was one of the best and worst moments of my life.

“We’re here, Sir.” My driver’s voice pulled me out of my thoughts.

“Take the left turn and drive to the Safe Heaven Group’s head office. That’s our destination.” I said.

In a minute, my destination was standing in front of me. The mixed emotion of bitterness and anguish filled me as I prepared myself to meet Tristan Quinn after many years.

“Tell your boss that his old friend Stephan Hamilton is here to give him a visit.” I said to the girl on the reception

[ Olivia ]“Hey, Sera, it’s Mom here.” I rocked my youngest baby girl cautiously because I was still afraid that even small activities might exhaust her.She was staring at me with her hazel eyes, a rare shade with freckles of grey. Neither I nor Stephen had such a beautiful shade of eyes.“Mam, I have put Emma and Aurelia to sleep. I’ll take Seraphina, you can rest for some time. You have been taking care of them since the morning.” My daughters’ nanny offered me her help.I didn’t want to let go of my daughter but I was actually drained out of energy.“Here, please, be careful.” I instructed her even though she was a professional babysitter.“I’ll put her to sleep.” She said and I went out to catch some fresh air.The sunny afternoon was absolutely pleasant. I enjoyed the view of the city from the balcony. It had been a long time since I went out. Motherhood comes with its price.Though, I never complained. It was the best feeling in the world.I was loving my role as my precious da

[ Stephen ]“You fought with him like a roadside goon? Seriously, Stephen? Vandalism isn’t your style and it doesn’t suit you.” Brandon scolded me.I dabbed ice on my bruised cheek and winced when it stung.“I would have killed him if I was a goon. I just gave him what he truly deserves and I don’t regret it.” I said feeling the anger again building in my heart.“Stephen, what was going in your dumb brain? You went to lock horns with a lunatic who wants you dead. You’re a family man now, how could you make such a big mistake?” He again scolded me.“He scratched old wounds, how do you expect me to stay quiet and hear his rubbish.” I sneered. He went silent after hearing my words. I didn’t have to mention Railey’s name.“You mean Railey?” He asked. I only nodded my head.“Fuck! He is still stuck in the past and he’s using a dead person to hurt you. He is mentally sick. You should stay away from him.” He advised me.“I won’t stay silent and watch him burn my present, Brandon. I never exp

[ Olivia ]“Don’t you like the ravioli or the filling?”Stephen asked me with a frown when he noticed that I was barely eating from the plate that he served on the bed.“No, the food is really tasty.” I shook my head and contemplated whether to ask him about Tristan Quinn or drop it for the next day because we just had a disagreement and we promised each other to focus on our marriage.“Livy, I know this look. So, tell me what’s bothering you. We promised to talk out our problems, didn’t we?” He read it on my face.I exhaled deeply and ran my fingers through my hairs before dropping the spoon on the plate.“How do you and Tristan Quinn connected? Is there anything that I should know about you and him?” I asked him with carefully picked words. The frown was replaced by a blank expression and I knew that I just pressed an aching nerve.“How do you know him? Did he come across you or threatened you?” He asked me back, this time his tone laced in worry and an invisible fear.I shook my he

[ Olivia ]“Stephen, are you still upset with me?”I stroked my husband’s face tenderly whose eyes were staring blankly at the plain, white ceiling of our bedroom.I finally felt at ease when I was finally discharged and everyone planned a warm homecoming for us with our baby, I was a bit sad because Seraphina couldn’t be a part of our happiness.“No, it just a mild headache, nothing that concerns our argument at the hospital.” He replied, still not looking at me and it made me sigh.Perhaps, I didn’t consider his feelings when I said those words. It made me feel guilty because he’d never hurt me.“I am sorry, my love.” I cupped his face and made him look at me.My heart squeezed when I saw pain in those eyes. I caused it.“You don’t need to feel sorry, Livy. Whatever you suggested, I know you only have good intentions and wants everyone to live peacefully but it is something that is very difficult for me. You know that I am forced into it and I see no escape.”He confessed. I thought

[ Stephen ]“Hey, man. Why are you sitting with a rotten face?” Brandon asked placing a can of soft drink in front of me and plopped down on the vacant chair.“Olivia has gone mad.” I said.My mood turned even bitter as her words kept resonating in my brain.“I am sorry, but what did your wise woman do this time?” He raised his brow at me, an indication to tell him everything in detail.“She wants me to take full and independent custody of Vivienne’s child. How can she propose something very absurd because I can’t accept it. My wife is a kind woman but she’s being unrealistic here.” I said, feeling frustrated.“Well, I am confused here because neither you nor she is wrong on your parts. I mean the baby is still yours, you can’t run away from this reality but at the same time, your feelings also matter. It’s not easy for you to embrace any of it.” He said.“Whatever, I won’t accept it. I love my family and I can’t see it crumbling just because my wife wants to be a motherly figure.” I
