Chapter 7. I am Petra

Adelaide spends the entire day in her room lamenting. Her eyes are so swollen that it's difficult for her to open them completely. Mercedes came many times to ask from the doorway if she needed anything, but she simply told her to leave her alone. She didn't eat or drink anything all day.

She lazily gets up and looks around. The night has already fallen, and the cold draft coming in through her window sends shivers down her spine.

Despite how tired she feels, she manages to get out of the pompous wedding dress that's starting to itch her. She goes straight to the bathroom to wash her face with cold water.

In the mirror, she sees the enormous dark circles under her eyes, and her disheveled hairstyle. She sighs, feeling terrible.

She takes a shower and searches for a change of clothes to be more comfortable. With a shawl over her shoulders, she goes out to the balcony to admire the nighttime landscape of the Arrabal estate.

Tonight is clear, and many stars twinkle in the dark sky. What
