Chapter Six

Scar sat among the cluster of nervous candidates, her fingers dancing effortlessly over her phone's screen like nobody’s business.

While the room pulsed with tension, she seemed blissfully unaffected, engrossed in a rapid-fire exchange of messages with Nat about her latest online man.

'Seriously for goodness sake, I’m having my interview!' She yelled inwards at the disturbance Nat was dropping on her.

As she furiously typed away, the other candidates exchanged perplexed glances. They couldn't even fathom how she could remain so composed, seemingly detached from the collective anxiety that could kill them right now.

Some even shot disapproving looks her way, silently questioning why she acted stupid.

Amidst the heavy tension, Scar couldn't contain her frustration with Nat’s detailed account of that her online guy.

She rolled her eyes at her phone, muttering under her breath.

Unbeknownst to Scarlett, her eye-roll was the subject of speculation and eye-rolling among her fellow candidates.

They already didn’t like her.

If she acted this way, would she even do the job properly?!

Or did she think this was a joke?!

Just then, Michelle emerged from the office, attempting to maintain an air of professionalism as her eyes darted around in search of that certain Blonde.

Just when her eyes fell on Scar, she frowned deeply.

'The bimbo is even busy on her phone! How unprofessional'

Now the thing is, Mich after seeing Scar in person felt threatened by her incredibly good looks.

Though they both had blonde hair, Scar’s looked so much natural.

She on the other hand, always added a few color tint here and there to keep the blonde intact.

As much as she didn’t like Scar, she couldn’t just send her away.

"Scarlett Olson, Mr. Ash is ready to see you," she begrudgingly announced.

However, Scar, lost in her messaging world, remained oblivious until someone tapped her on the shoulder. "Scarlett," they said, and she snapped back to reality.

"Yes, yes," she replied, quickly finishing her message with a flurry of taps.

Mich’s frown deepened.

'What an annoying b*tch'

"Mr. Ash is ready to see you." She repeated with a look of disdain on her face.

'I do wish this bimbo fails'

Scar, having a rebellious personality, noticed the glares being directed to her and she wondered if she had offended the woman before her in any way.

Or was it women’s instincts of jealousy?

'Ha! What a bimbo to get jealous so easily, does she think I came here for seduction? I mean look at what she’s wearing. Compared to mine, I’m so f*cking decent!'

The remaining candidates stared at Scarlett in disbelief as she rose to her feet with theatrical poise. She took a deep breath, as if preparing for a grand entrance, before sauntering towards the closed door.

'Oh she’s also nervous?'

The glare from her fellow candidates intensified.

The room fell silent as Scarlett shut the door behind her, leaving the other candidates to exchange bewildered glances.

Seb sat comfortably in the office, a mischievous smirk playing on his lips as he perused the file in his hands.

The file belonged to none other than his runaway bride, and just as he expected, she indeed came for the job.

The mere thought of her presence brought a gleam of anticipation to his eyes.

'I can finally see that woman who dared to leave me Sébastien at the alter!'

He gritted his teeth at the thought of what happened two years ago.

She had made a mockery of him.

He could as well just go straight to her and cause her harm just as he always intended to, but what would be the fun in the game if he just did everything hurriedly?

It was better to take it slow and then punish her for her stupid decision back then.

Just then, the door to the office was pulled open.

His eyes flared with anger as he watched her walk through the door.

She had just willingly surrendered herself into the lion’s den.

What a naive little bunny she was.

But then his emotions surged, as he begrudgingly acknowledged how pretty she looked.

'She’s beautiful, not withstanding. But too bad, I’m going to break her till she begs for mercy. Her pretty face leads her no where'

He cleared his throat, his attention to the woman who had disrupted his peace, he sharply ordered,

"Sit down."

But as clumsy as she could be, she was lost in her own world of admiration and was blissfully unaware.

The moment she stepped through the door and her eyes landing on this so called Mr Ash - whom she assumed was an old man - she couldn’t take her eyes off him.

It was a big miracle that she didn’t whistle low in her throat.

Hell, she’d loose this interview.

But damn he was so fine.

wait, when was the last time she saw a man as handsome as this?

That was...... yes! Two years ago.

Her brother-in-law looked this handsome.

Hey, shut up! He is not your brother-in-law, but your nightmare’s brother.

She shook her head as if to clear the image of when she had been gagged and stuffed into a car.

That was so horrible.

Scar had a thing for handsome men, and this one before her, was what the word perfection meant in human form.

Her internal monologue continued to race about his undeniable handsomeness —brown hair, grey eyes, small lips, and an overall dashing appearance.

In her internal hysteria, she mused, 'Oh my god, I'm in love. Oh my god, oh my god, oh my god.'

The prospect of working for such a handsome CEO overwhelmed her, and she daydreamed about what they could both do all day, knowing she had to always be by his side, wether at home or work place.

She was such a pervert.

While she was lost in dreamland, a certain someone was beginning to loose it.

Who spaces out during an interview?!

Her reverie abruptly ended when Seb angrily flashed his hand and shot her a glare that cut through her love-struck fog.

Startled, she jumped out of her thoughts, realizing she had better pay attention if she wanted any chance at this job - and him.

"I said sit"

She hurriedly sat down, embarrassment written all over her face as she dared not look into his eyes.

Sebastian, nursing his anger and thirst for revenge, sat behind his sleek desk with an air of mischief.

'How dare she? How dare she space out?! Maybe a little more embarrassment would put her brains together'

Seb chuckled to himself at the idea that struck him.

Of course he’d give her the job. How else would he take his revenge if he didn’t.

But for now, he would make mockery of her and watch her pained.

He vowed to keep torturing her until she tasted the bitterness he experienced when she left him at the altar.

Even if they didn’t know or love each other, he had invited so many guests that day and all were influential people from Alaska and everywhere around the world.

Because of her, he was so greatly embarrassed and to top it all, most of those people still couldn’t let him go without embarrassing him with that talk.

Deciding on an unconventional approach, he thought, 'why don’t I make it fun? Weird questions, that's the key. To make her squirm.'

Seb faced her, the earlier smirk disappearing from his lips.

"Alright, Scarlett. Let's start with a warm-up. " he began "If you were a vegetable, what vegetable would you be?"

Eh?

Scarlett blinked. Did she mishear him or something.

No no she was very sure she heard him say vegetable.

'Vegetable? What bullshit vegetable?! Was this an agricultural interview?'

giving him a perplexed look, she still went ahead to answer, more like stammered, "Uh, a carrot?"

Seb‘s initial smile dropped.

He expected her to fail.
