ELEANOR’S POV:
Anderson nudged at me, but I couldn’t say a thing. He leaned in and saw where the function was holding— New York. The one city where I’d lost it all and hit rock bottom before this amazing man found me.
“It’s in New York. We could stay back and“—
“No.” I cut him off. I refused to be the one holding him back. After everything he was doing for me, including working tirelessly to clear my name, I couldn’t afford to be the one person who’d hold him back.
“We’ll go.” I could’ve sworn my voice cracked there, but that wasn’t just it. Immediately, the night everything had started flashed through my mind.
My plan for consummation, learning of my father’s death, seeing Robert get out of that car, the divorce, learning I signed it all away— every goddamn bad thing flashed through my mind like a bad dream, and I staggered, almost falling if Anderson hadn’t wrapped his arms around me to steady me.
I felt sparks travel through every single inch of my skin the moment I felt his touch. I pulled away instantly as I turned away from him. This was the closest we’d gotten physically since we got ‘married’. To everyone, we were the adorable married couple, and we tried to live up to that, but in private, we were just friends. Friends who worked together.
“I know it must be tough for you to return to New York, especially after everything. I’ve been preaching to you about moving on for some time now, but I really do understand if you don’t feel comfortable, and it’s fine. It’s step by step.” He told me as he planted his hand on my shoulder.
I gulped, my breath hitching. What on earth was going on with me? “Remember, Ellie, regardless of what happens, I’m always here for you.” That warmed me, and I smiled as I turned to him.
“I’ll get our plane tickets.” I told him, moving away as his hand came off my shoulder. I didn’t realise I was holding my breath till then. What sort of effect was this?
I ran my fingers through my hair as I hurriedly packed up. I was just stressed. The past few days had been hectic. That was it. That was all there was to it— it sounded like I was trying to make myself believe something that wasn’t real.

So far, the party was going well. Charity sections, donations, dances, drinking— so far, everything was going well, and I hadn’t been as scared or paranoid as I’d thought I’d be, but all this was because I knew I had Anderson by my side. My whole sense of comfort disappeared the moment he took the stage for his speech.
Turning to the side, I could’ve sworn I caught a glimpse of Robert, but when I looked again, he wasn’t there. I clenched my fists as I gulped my alcohol in a single go.
‘Stop imagining things, Eleanor. Robert’s not here.’
“… Many people assume I’m the mastermind behind every successful investment I’ve made, but then, there’s a saying: behind every successful man is a woman. Behind me is my dearest wife.” I felt every eye turn to me as I gulped, my heart racing as it thumped in my chest. “She convinced me to make that investment, and I’m so glad to see it grow. This success is as much mine as it is hers, so here’s to more success.” Everyone cheered, and I did my best to genuinely cheer, too. That was until I felt my skin crawl from the presence of the one who’d just come beside me, passing me the filthiest smile ever.
“You look stunning tonight, Elle.” In that raspy voice that I would once die for, my ex-husband, the bastard who’d ruined my life, smiled at me as he leaned in for a kiss on the cheeks, but I stepped away. I’d be damned if I let that sinner come near me.
“Excuse me.” I turned to leave, but he held my hand back, his eyes instantly turning to pleading ones.
“At least listen to me, Elle—“
“Eleanor. My name’s Eleanor.” I cut him off, doing my best not to show the disgust that was piling on my face.
The ribbon cutting was done, but Anderson was still up on stage. I didn’t want to do anything that’d ruin the moment, but this bastard—Robert—he was pushing me, and there was only so much I could do to restrain myself, especially now that he was holding on to my hand.
“I’ve missed you, El—Eleanor. Seeing you, all glamorous, your eyes glistening, you—“ once upon a time, I’d have killed to have Robert compliment me, but now, even his compliments felt like insults.
“Let go of me.” I murmured, trying to get free from him. I didn’t want to draw attention to us. Not at an event like this.
“Then just come with me. Please.” His voice reduced at the last word. “It’ll be quick. You know what effect you have on me, Eleanor. I’m dying to talk to you. Just five minutes. I only need five minutes to“—
I suddenly felt a hand on mine, and that hand seemed to cause Robert to shut the fuck up. Finally.
I raised my head to see Anderson, his side profile as marvellous as ever. Damn it. Focus, Eleanor.
“My wife said to let her go. Must she repeat herself, Mr Robert?” Anderson’s voice was so cold it sent shivers down my spine. How were these two even related?
“You should be ashamed of yourself. I’m your“— Before Robert could play the ‘I’m your nephew’ card, Anderson grabbed his hand, putting it off me as he pulled me to the side.
“You’re one to talk about being ashamed. Stay away from my wife, Mr Robert. I’m sure you wouldn’t want to cross the line.” This man was so different from the Anderson I used to chat with in conference rooms after our meetings were done.
This man was cold; his eyes looked so charming yet threatening. My gosh.
Robert nodded, taking a step back as he grabbed a glass of alcohol from the waiter, gulping it in an entire go. As he grabbed a fork, clinking the glass.
“Attention, everyone. I’ve got some important information. Something that’ll interest you all, so very deeply.” He announced in a loud voice.
He turned to Anderson and me in a threatening manner, but Anderson didn’t seem to be fazed.
“FME’s opening?” He scoffed. “I’ve got something that’ll interest the media more than that.” I felt my breath hitch.
ANDERSON'S POV"Evan, I need you to fight back and search for what will bring the price down," I said to him."I'm trying..." His voice showed that he was already tired. When I realized that the stock price had crashed, I stayed away from the house and planned to handle the whole situation myself. I didn't want to involve Eleanor given her health condition and what she's carrying for me.Throughout that day, I dedicated it to trying to find a way. Evan was really helpful here, but at some point I needed someone more than just Evan. If I could involve myself in all this hacking stuff, I would do it to save my company and my family."Anything?" I asked Evan."Nothing yet. I'm trying to put up new prices that are lower than what normal people get so I can bring back the people that had a deal with us," he explained. That was the best thing to think of, but these people were persistent with the video that they saw. I opened my email and found the video."Oh no, how did they get this video
ADAM'S POVI had given Anderson so much time to do what he does best, but he really thinks that I was doing that because I care?I waited for months until this footage was found. I didn't think about the time, as long as I was getting revenge—and the revenge is for both of the families. So I'm patient and ready to wait."So this is the footage that they claim they can hide?" I smiled when the video was handed over to me."We found out that there was a hidden camera in that scene. We searched further and found the footage of what we were looking for," one of his girls explained."Now, I'm so loyal and proud of you, friend," I said to him.He smiled and comforted me one last time."Make sure they pay dearly for what they have done to you. You don't have to think about it before pulling the trigger," he said to me and released me to go home. This was the beginning of my torment. I spent all my nights trying to think of a way to use this video. I knew so much that if I sent it to Anderson
ELEANOR'S POVI was still monitoring the stock price and trying all possible ways to make sure that Anderson didn't find out.I wondered what Evan meant by "the Anderson household." I couldn't believe that someone was on our trail.I kept going back to my email to watch what was happening. I needed to be alert in case any other email came in, and I needed to notify Evan or Sierra about it.Tracy kept coming to the room to check on me. The whole thing was always part of my anger that day. I assumed that Anderson had said this playfully, so why the hell was she taking it so seriously?"Tracy, can you find something to do instead of just coming to watch me do nothing?" I used all the strength in me to try and sound calm."I'm sorry for causing the inconvenience. I am just doing what Anderson said I should do." She shrugged with a smile.I didn't know what was funny to her, but she had to stop that and let me be alone."I know he said that, but he didn't say you have to come peep in my ro
ELEANOR'S POVIt wasn't easy being pregnant for Anderson. I wasn't told this part; I never knew that I'd have to be inside until I have given birth. I wasn't permitted to go out for any reason."Tracy watches over her and the baby carefully. Don't let her deceive you into leaving the house." He warned every morning before he left the house. When he goes, Tracy and I will sit to talk about how protective and caring he is."These are the type of men we can get pregnant for, not the ones that will leave you to suffer with it like you were the only one that carried out the action." Tracy sighed.I got so fond of Tracy. Especially now that Sierra is focused on trying to make the market rise."Are you watching over me? Hope you are?" We laughed. Her voice was so high that it overpowered mine. I was beginning to feel that everyone is happier than me, who is pregnant."I guess I should prepare warm water for you so you can bathe and eat something." She suggested."Yeah, that's true. I haven't
ANDERSON'S POVThe good news was too big to bear. I had to call in Evan and Sierra to join in making it so joyful.Although when I heard the news at first, it felt like I was going to see myself where I tried to pick myself up from. The memories of my late wife and children flooded in; I hoped so much that she doesn't have to end that way. I believe in her; she is strong, and she will conquer everything that has to do with death. I remembered how happy I was, and soon it all turned to sadness. I couldn't think of how I cried when I lost my babies and, most importantly, my wife. "Hope you slept well, my love?" I hugged her from behind while she was trying to put on her clothes."Yes, I did. I slept like a baby, and I didn't have to wake with any pain." She boosted."Please don't; don't wake up with any pain. It will not be funny; you will feel the pain alone." I chuckled."What?""Relax, I'm just pulling your legs; you don't have to worry. You know I would do anything to make you ha
SIERRA'S POV It has been three weeks already. The week should just keep running that way because these workers were after my life; I'd have to give an announcement for a week so that they can cooperate. It was with so much pleasure and threat that most of them decided to work like humans. "How many more hours do I have to wait before the files arrive at my table?" I screamed at the assistant. She wasn't putting any effort at all. She left the job for me and only did what she had in mind."I'm sorry, ma'am, I'll... I'll bring it immediately." Her legs trembled on the ground. Now that's what they like; they love being treated like dogs, and I won't mind being the owner and treating them like one.Whenever I get angry, I tend to remember everything that has ever happened before to get me annoyed. I traced back to when I caught Evan with one of his workers.I won't say I caught them having any intimate affair, but I know that something was wrong somewhere, and I don't have the grace to
