ELARA'S POV

I grab Mia's arm with one hand, holding my crown in another, hurriedly sneaking out of the reception hall before anyone spots me.

Thankfully there are no guards manning this entrance, all of them were at the main door.

With the hand holding my crown, I lift up my burgundy dress slightly so I can be able to walk quickly.

Luckily this hallway is empty and leads straight to my room.

“Let's go to my room.” I whisper to Mia.

But Mia remains standing. “Why are we escaping from your reception party? Aren't you meant to be by the King's side?”

I gesture to my diamond studded heels. “Have you seen what Lafayette made me wear? I've been standing in heels for hours, I just have to escape. Besides, I'm not used to all this but Dravon is, let him handle it.”

“My Lady that's not-”

I let out a groan, cutting her short. “Not you too, I think I prefer you calling me Luna now.”

Mia chuckles. “The title is even wrong, I'm meant to bow and say your highness or is it your Majesty?”

~Calistra~Unfortunately for me she doesn't feel it, she doesn't look my way. Instead she smiles as she answers the questions being asked. She is standing proud, her chin lifted like she belongs. She doesn't know what's in store for her.Smile all you can Elara, these will be your last days smiling this happily.“Rise,” The King's voice booms across the court. He stands tall, his blue eyes roam the hall, searching for anyone that'll dare disobey the order. Everyone stands at the command. The King drapes the cloak around Elara's shoulders. The fur collar swallows her fragile neck, the long embroidered tails dragging across the polished floor. There's embroidery at the back of the cloak, a royal emblem that is used to identify royalty. The entire hall falls into silence. The scepter and crown given to her at yesterday's crowning is brought out again. The crown gracing her head and the scepter being handed over to her.Elara is in her full regalia as a Queen.A hush silence falls on the

  • CLAIMED BY THE DEMON KING: DARK ROMANCE   130| The Cloak of Spite

CALISTRA'S POVI walk carefully along the hallway, confused on which hall is for the court meeting. There are so many halls in this palace, do they even use everything?Yesterday each ceremony, the wedding, crowning and reception all took place in different halls. I don't know how people here keep up with this. The palace is like a mini city in it's own. The fact that Elara is going to be in charge of all these is enough to make my blood boil. She keeps climbing higher and higher. Let's see how long she lasts on that throne as Queen.“Why do we have to attend this ceremony again?” Lucien asks, following behind me.“We're Winterwood delegates, we ought to be at the ceremony. All the other pack's delegates that are still around are going, why shouldn't we?”“I don't see the point of still staying here. We've seen the wedding and crowning ceremony, that's enough.”Ugh I'm stuck with a man child. Can't he stop countering my words for once?! He just doesn't want to go to the ceremony and s

  • CLAIMED BY THE DEMON KING: DARK ROMANCE   129| Marked by One Night

~Mia~“Really Mia?” Thorne asks, his tone soft. “Look me in the eye and tell me you felt nothing that night.”‎‎I swallow, blinking back the heat rising to my cheeks. I remember that night too well. I was rebellious, reckless, desperate to feel something other than the betrayal that Kyle had carved into me. I took what I wanted, left what I didn’t. It was survival. Or so I told myself.I kept jumping from one bed to another, trying to get back at Kyle, trying to get over Kyle's cheating ass. Eventually it became my thing, the feeling of being needed, being adored clouded my sense of reasoning. Then I met Thorne that night. The one man that truly made me feel seen, he listened to me, appreciated me in a way I didn't know was possible. He made me feel something I thought I was incapable of. All these happened in one night. All these happened just because of him. I had to eventually stop my bed hopping, because no one can make me feel truly seen like Thorne. He has a hold on me that no

  • CLAIMED BY THE DEMON KING: DARK ROMANCE   128| Behind Closed Doors

MIA'S POVWith Luna Elara already gone from the party there's no need for me to stick around. Besides, I don't want to run into Kyle or Thorne. My health is badly depreciating, running into them will just make it worse and the Luna is already suspicious. I can see that she already knows something happened. Thank Goodness Aria came just in time. If I had stayed alone with her, I would've had no choice but to spill everything. Staying beside her is a bittersweet feeling. At first I'm happy to spend time with her, then guilt creeps in, eating me alive. I don't think I can visit tomorrow as I promised, I'll have to look for another excuse. My head is already hurting from overthinking everything.I turn to Aria as we're about to enter the reception hall. “Aria, you can go on. I think I'll retire early, I'm already feeling sleepy.”Aria flashes me a smile. “Okay Miss, good night.”I try to return the smile. “Goodnight.”I watch as she enters the hall before I head back to my room.I clos

~Elara~I hear the main chamber door open and I quickly hide the cloth underneath the bedsheet, disrupting the love design they made with rose petals on the bed.Dravon opens the bedroom door, stepping inside. He's still in his tuxedo that matches my burgundy dress. He looks around the room and his eyes finally stop at me. “What happened here?”I shrug, unable to give an explanation. Both of us stand hesitantly, the air awkward and tense. Nobody seems to know how to proceed from here.“I can-”“You should-”The both of us speak at the same time, interrupting one another. The awkwardness increases.“I'll go first.” Dravon suggests. “You should change your clothes. You know where everything is being kept, I'll wait out there.” He gestures outside the bedroom.“Okay.” I agree softly. His idea is better. He leaves the bedroom and I let out a sigh of relief, the awkward air dissipating.I quickly remove my dress and shower, putting on my night gown. There's no way I'm putting on that strin
