Alec’s POV

I lay on my bed, face up with many thoughts that ran around in my head. There was nothing I hadn't thought about since I walked into my chamber a while ago.

After answering to Kane who did nothing but command me around. It was my role and tasks, after all.

I now sat up, my thoughts drifting to Rain.

I thought about how she was doing, fairing as a maid to the man himself. It's been a week since the verdict and I hadn't laid eyes on her. She was with the Alpha almost all the time and didn't need my protection any longer.

According to Kane, I didn't have to go with her everywhere any longer, just as I did before.

I had asked why and his words were the same as I had expected. “When she was in your care, how well did you take care of her?” There was no need to argue, I didn't do well even. But if only the Alpha knew, he would understand that she was more important to me than she was to him.
