Rebecca had finished crying, and she was seated on the floor with her hands wrapped around her knees. She couldn't cry anymore, she was tired and hungry, she hadn't eaten anything since the previous day. Just as if her mind was being read, the door opened and Kira walked in, holding a tray of food.

"Get up quickly." Kira said, as she dropped the tray on the bed, ignoring the scattered bedsheet.

Rebecca spared the food a stare, and surprisingly, it was her favorite meal, stir-fried spaghetti.

"Eat up fast, you need to prepare. I made the chef prepare the food with extra spice. I was told you liked it." Kira informed her, before walking out of the room.

She was taken aback. It was true she liked her food extra spicy. How did Kira know about that? Who told her? She was still trying to figure it out when her eyes spotted the tulip of roses on the bedside table. She had seen the flowers when she woke up, but she didn't give attention to it, but now that she thought of it, she became astonished. It was her favorite flower.

She waved the thought and climbed the bed, instantly devouring the food like a hungry lion. In less than five minutes, she was done eating. She drank the juice for easily digestion and took a deep breath after that.

Immediately, the door opened and Kira walked in with a girl. The girl was holding a big box. She placed the box on the other side of the bed and then took the tray out of the room.

"How do you always know when to come in?" Rebecca asked, feeling amused.

Kira always came in at the right time and somehow it was satisfying.

"This box here contains the things you'll be needing to dress up. The boss has brought this to you, you're so lucky." The way Kira said the words with malice didn't go unnoticed.

Rebecca noticed the girl had purposely ignored her question, but she didn't budge, she let it be. Moreover, she had important things to be worried about.

"I don't know what your boss wants or who he is, I just want to go home." She muttered to Kira's hearing.

Kira laughed lightly and Rebecca creased her brows, wondering what was funny in what she said.

"I doubt that, Rebecca," Kira said. She opened the box and pushed it to Rebecca.

Rebecca stared into the box and a frown appeared on her face. "Why do I need all these?" She questioned.

The box contained a black gown, silver heels, a diamond bracelet and a necklace.

"Because you need to look your best before meeting with the boss... Now get up, go to the bathroom, freshen up and put this on, understood?" Kira instructed.

Rebecca scoffed, she didn't understand anything, the whole thing looked like a movie.

"And what if I don't?" She stood her ground. She didn't like the fact that she was being ordered around like a lost puppy.

Without saying a word, Kira dipped her hand in her jacket pocket and took out a gun.

Rebecca backed away immediately. Her heart raced, beating in her chest like a drum. Fear crept up her spine, and the only thing she could do at that moment was to cry.

Kira rolled her eyes as she stared at the poor girl. "Now that you know what I'll do if you don't do as I say, you better adhere to anything I tell you. Understood?"

Rebecca nodded quickly, and a satisfactory smile appeared on Kira's lips.

"Good girl. I'll be back to take you to him." With that being said, Kira walked out of the room.

Rebecca rushed to the bathroom in tears, she didn't want to take chances.

Some minutes later, she was dressed in the outfit, and she looked so gorgeous in it.

If it was a normal day, she would take her time admiring her figure, but not in this situation.

As she walked beside Kira, her melancholic eyes were fixed in a particular direction. She didn't give attention to the luxurious decor of the place.

They got outside the building and even though it was nighttime, the whole place looked bright because of the numerous lights fixed everywhere.

A young man approached them, holding a bouquet of roses.

When he got to them, he handed the bouquet to her, and she didn't want to take it. But as soon as she recalled Kira's action earlier, she collected the bouquet from him.

She watched the guy whisper something to Kira, and he then walked away after that.

"You are so lucky." Kira muttered to her hearing, and she wondered what the girl meant by that.

They continued walking, and Kira stopped when they got to the garden entrance.

"Go on from here. Don't try to do anything stupid, I'll be watching you." She warned her and walked away.

Rebecca took a deep breath, wondering what was awaiting her there.

As she entered the garden, a light gasp escaped her lips. The pathway was adorned with twinkling lights and lanterns, casting a golden glow on the flowers there.

A sweet fragrance welcomed her, and she could tell it was from the roses around the garden.

Whoever the boss was, he definitely knew her favorite flower was a rose.

She spotted a beautifully set table in a quiet corner.

When she got to where the table was, she met a huge figure standing four meters from the table.

His back was turned against her, so she couldn't see his face.

The golden lighting cast a glow on his broad shoulders, highlighting the tension in his posture.

She didn't know if he knew about her presence there, so she decided to speak up. "Hey." She cooed.

  She didn't get a reply.

The atmosphere was heavy with anticipation. Her gaze was fixed on his back, searching for clues that might reveal his identity.

Her heart raced with a mix of curiosity and trepidation. She took a deep breath and decided to take a bold step. She walked closer to him and just when she was about to tap his shoulder, he slowly turned to her.

Her hand stopped midair immediately she saw his face. The bouquet fell from her hand.

Her expression transformed from curiosity to shock. Her eyes dimmed, it was as if she had just seen a ghost.

Time freezed as they locked eyes, the air thick with unspoken words.

The silence between them was awkward. Only the gentle rustling of leaves and the soft chirping of birds could be heard.

Her lips parted, but no words came out. She took a step backward, her brain scrambling to process the unexpected situation.

"Axel." His name left her mouth in a whisper.

The day had started with her thinking the gifts and luxury was a dream, and she was excited it wasn’t. But right now, she really hoped and prayed this would be a dream. “Hello, my love.” The voice confirmed she wasn’t hallucinating nor dreaming. Eric was standing a few steps away, that same cruel smirk curling across his face, one she had hoped she’d never see again. Her stomach twisted, pulse hammering against her ribs “Love the surprise?” Her hands shook, clutching her bag like a lifeline. Everything she thought was love, surprise, celebration… had twisted into danger. Her heart wasn’t just racing. It was screaming terror “Eric?” She heard Kira’s voice from behind. Kira was also shocked. The whole thing didn’t make sense to Rebecca. Axel was supposed to be the one standing there, not her nightmare. She swallowed hard, bracing past her fear. She marched to where he stood and grabbed his collar. “Where is Axel? What did you do to him?” A flicker of disbelief crossed hi

Her heart race increase rapidly as she stared curiously at Trent.“No. Of course not.” Trent replied quickly. She let out a deep breath.“Why would you think something happened to him?” Trent asked.“Because of your actions. It seemed you’re trying to cover for Axel by making me feel good.” She replied. Trent chuckled. “Axel is fine. He called me to bring you to the venue you’ll be having dinner.” Her brows lifted. “Why? Where’s he?” “Obviously a surprise for you… Less I forgot, happy birthday Rebecca.” “Thank you.” She managed to say, no smile on her face to back it up. “That wasn’t our plan. He would come home and we’ll go to the place together. I still don’t get why he still hasn’t come back home yet…” Without waiting for Trent to reply, she walked back into the room to pick her phone, and she dialed Axel’s number immediately. It was switched off, and her suspicions grew. She looked up at Trent who was already inside the room.“What on earth happened to Axel?!” She co

Rebecca and Axel could be seen seated on the bench in the garden, their fingers intertwined, with Rebecca leaning on his shoulder. They had been there for about an hour, gisting, laughing, and randomly stealing kisses. The place smelled heavenly and that was one of the reasons she insisted they stay there.“You’ve been wanting to go out for a long time…” Axel suddenly said, breaking the silence between them.“Yes.” She nodded.“We’ll go out today.” He revealed and her eyes widened.“Really?” she beamed. He nodded, and she didn’t waste time before wrapping her hands around his neck. “Thank you!!”Ever since the incident, Axel hadn’t allow her out of the house because he was scared Alessandro would do something stupid. He was concerned about her safety but today was her birthday and he wanted to make it memorable for her. He had booked the whole of a luxurious restaurant for tonight. • CLAIMED BY THE DEVIL   Happy birthday, Becca

“… Happy birthday to youuuuuu.” Rebecca clasped happily before swiping her finger on the cake and licking the sugar off her hand.“Thank you.” She giggled.“Take a bite.” Kira urged, moving the cake extremely close to Rebecca. Rebecca shook her head. “I’m scared, what if you try to poison me.” She teased. Kira rolled her eyes. “I don’t have a death wish.” She said and they both laughed. “What is Axel planning?” Rebecca asked curiously. It was the morning of her birthday and Axel was the first to wish her. He sent her a text through the phone, and she was anticipating to see him so he would give her a birthday kiss. Unfortunately, she hadn’t seen him since the beginning of the day, and she knew he was planning something.“I don’t know. Even if I know, do you think I’ll tell you?” Kira smirked.“You won’t.” Rebecca shrugged. “I’ll go see for myself…” She took the cake from Kira and placed it on the table. “Thanks.” She winked and walked out of the room. Rebecca stayed quiet for a long moment after Axel’s confession. She needed the silence to calm her down a bit. Then she shifted slightly, enough to put a little distance between them. Not because she wanted to leave, but because she needed space to breathe before opening a wound that had never truly healed.“When you left,” She began softly, “Everything fell apart at once.”Axel’s arm tightened around her, pulling her back to him for comfort, and she didn’t try to move away.“I thought it was just heartbreak at first,” she continued. “The kind you survive by crying at night and pretending you’re fine during the day.” She shifted her gaze away from him. “Then I noticed something.”“I was sick every morning. Dizzy. Tired in a way I couldn’t explain.” She swallowed. “I didn’t understand it until a woman at the clinic looked at me with pity and said the words out loud.”She lifted her gaze towards him. “I was pregnant.” She watched as the colors on his face drained, and how his eyes d

Rebecca laughed heartily as Ella and Whitney briefed her about their funny dating experiences the past few months.“Maybe I should give up on love.” Whitney’s voice was heard.“Guys, the right person will find you, you just have to…” Rebecca stopped when she heard a knock on the door. She pulled the duvet to her chest, covering her bralette. “Come in.” The door opened shortly and Axel walked in holding a plate of fruits.“You’re done already?” She was surprised. It hadn’t been up to two hours since he left to the control room.“Yes. It was a slight issue.” He replied, dropping the plate on the bedside table close to her reach. “What have you been doing?”“Talking to my friends. Wanna say hi?” She asked. He shook his head and she chuckled.“Can I call you guys later please?” She spoke to the phone.Ella and Whitney both agreed and then disconnected the call. She dropped her phone and carried the plate from the table, placing it next to her.“Sometimes I feel you can read my mind
