Rebecca had finished crying, and she was seated on the floor with her hands wrapped around her knees. She couldn't cry anymore, she was tired and hungry, she hadn't eaten anything since the previous day. Just as if her mind was being read, the door opened and Kira walked in, holding a tray of food.

"Get up quickly." Kira said, as she dropped the tray on the bed, ignoring the scattered bedsheet.

Rebecca spared the food a stare, and surprisingly, it was her favorite meal, stir-fried spaghetti.

"Eat up fast, you need to prepare. I made the chef prepare the food with extra spice. I was told you liked it." Kira informed her, before walking out of the room.

She was taken aback. It was true she liked her food extra spicy. How did Kira know about that? Who told her? She was still trying to figure it out when her eyes spotted the tulip of roses on the bedside table. She had seen the flowers when she woke up, but she didn't give attention to it, but now that she thought of it, she became astonished. It was her favorite flower.

She waved the thought and climbed the bed, instantly devouring the food like a hungry lion. In less than five minutes, she was done eating. She drank the juice for easily digestion and took a deep breath after that.

Immediately, the door opened and Kira walked in with a girl. The girl was holding a big box. She placed the box on the other side of the bed and then took the tray out of the room.

"How do you always know when to come in?" Rebecca asked, feeling amused.

Kira always came in at the right time and somehow it was satisfying.

"This box here contains the things you'll be needing to dress up. The boss has brought this to you, you're so lucky." The way Kira said the words with malice didn't go unnoticed.

Rebecca noticed the girl had purposely ignored her question, but she didn't budge, she let it be. Moreover, she had important things to be worried about.

"I don't know what your boss wants or who he is, I just want to go home." She muttered to Kira's hearing.

Kira laughed lightly and Rebecca creased her brows, wondering what was funny in what she said.

"I doubt that, Rebecca," Kira said. She opened the box and pushed it to Rebecca.

Rebecca stared into the box and a frown appeared on her face. "Why do I need all these?" She questioned.

The box contained a black gown, silver heels, a diamond bracelet and a necklace.

"Because you need to look your best before meeting with the boss... Now get up, go to the bathroom, freshen up and put this on, understood?" Kira instructed.

Rebecca scoffed, she didn't understand anything, the whole thing looked like a movie.

"And what if I don't?" She stood her ground. She didn't like the fact that she was being ordered around like a lost puppy.

Without saying a word, Kira dipped her hand in her jacket pocket and took out a gun.

Rebecca backed away immediately. Her heart raced, beating in her chest like a drum. Fear crept up her spine, and the only thing she could do at that moment was to cry.

Kira rolled her eyes as she stared at the poor girl. "Now that you know what I'll do if you don't do as I say, you better adhere to anything I tell you. Understood?"

Rebecca nodded quickly, and a satisfactory smile appeared on Kira's lips.

"Good girl. I'll be back to take you to him." With that being said, Kira walked out of the room.

Rebecca rushed to the bathroom in tears, she didn't want to take chances.

Some minutes later, she was dressed in the outfit, and she looked so gorgeous in it.

If it was a normal day, she would take her time admiring her figure, but not in this situation.

As she walked beside Kira, her melancholic eyes were fixed in a particular direction. She didn't give attention to the luxurious decor of the place.

They got outside the building and even though it was nighttime, the whole place looked bright because of the numerous lights fixed everywhere.

A young man approached them, holding a bouquet of roses.

When he got to them, he handed the bouquet to her, and she didn't want to take it. But as soon as she recalled Kira's action earlier, she collected the bouquet from him.

She watched the guy whisper something to Kira, and he then walked away after that.

"You are so lucky." Kira muttered to her hearing, and she wondered what the girl meant by that.

They continued walking, and Kira stopped when they got to the garden entrance.

"Go on from here. Don't try to do anything stupid, I'll be watching you." She warned her and walked away.

Rebecca took a deep breath, wondering what was awaiting her there.

As she entered the garden, a light gasp escaped her lips. The pathway was adorned with twinkling lights and lanterns, casting a golden glow on the flowers there.

A sweet fragrance welcomed her, and she could tell it was from the roses around the garden.

Whoever the boss was, he definitely knew her favorite flower was a rose.

She spotted a beautifully set table in a quiet corner.

When she got to where the table was, she met a huge figure standing four meters from the table.

His back was turned against her, so she couldn't see his face.

The golden lighting cast a glow on his broad shoulders, highlighting the tension in his posture.

She didn't know if he knew about her presence there, so she decided to speak up. "Hey." She cooed.

  She didn't get a reply.

The atmosphere was heavy with anticipation. Her gaze was fixed on his back, searching for clues that might reveal his identity.

Her heart raced with a mix of curiosity and trepidation. She took a deep breath and decided to take a bold step. She walked closer to him and just when she was about to tap his shoulder, he slowly turned to her.

Her hand stopped midair immediately she saw his face. The bouquet fell from her hand.

Her expression transformed from curiosity to shock. Her eyes dimmed, it was as if she had just seen a ghost.

Time freezed as they locked eyes, the air thick with unspoken words.

The silence between them was awkward. Only the gentle rustling of leaves and the soft chirping of birds could be heard.

Her lips parted, but no words came out. She took a step backward, her brain scrambling to process the unexpected situation.

"Axel." His name left her mouth in a whisper.

  • CLAIMED BY THE DEVIL   Michael’s sin

Kira had her hands crossed under her chest as she walked around the control room, staring at each computer and surveillance. Standing beside her was Trent who was on a video call with Axel. Axel had told them about Danny and she pretended not to know who he was. She promised she would help him find him and she urged the team to get to work, meanwhile she was praying for them not to find anything. Trent moved the call from the phone to a bigger screen and she could see Rebecca seated next to Axel on the bed. Her brows raised but she was quick enough to masked her surprise, as they could also see her. She focused her gaze on Rebecca and they both stared quietly at each other through the screen. It was just a stare, but it had a meaning.“I found something.” One of the men handling the computer said. Kira turned immediately, forcing her breathing to stay steady. She leaned over the monitor and exhaled in relief when she saw the wrong man’s face pop up; someone older, unrelated,

  • CLAIMED BY THE DEVIL   The culprit

Rebecca woke up feeling pains all over her body, but despite that, she still felt a wave of satisfaction. It was such an intense make out and the thoughts of it made a smile appear on her face. She sat upright, clutching the duvet tightly to her naked chest. She didn’t see Axel, so she assumed he would be in the bathroom or the living room. She stood from the bed, grabbed her clothes, put them on and walked to the bathroom. When she noticed the door was slightly opened, she realized he wasn’t in“Axel?” She called as she walked out of the room. Despite shouting his name around the whole lounge, she couldn’t find him. Her brows furrowed. “Where did he go to?” She muttered. She grabbed her phone from the bedside table and dialed his number. It rang for some time before the call ended, Axel didn’t pick. Her shoulders suddenly went tensed. She called his number again and it was answered this time around.“Where the fuck are you? What could be so important that you left with

For a moment, Axel didn’t move. Not because he didn’t want to, but because something inside him snapped so sharply he had to steady himself. Her words, “Claim me, I am yours.” replayed in his head. She had no idea what she was awakening in him.His jaw clenched. His grip on her waist tightened, fingers digging in just enough to make her breath quiver.“Becca.” He mumbled, but this time it wasn’t soft. It was a warning wrapped in want. A low, dangerous growl brushing her skin. She didn’t back away, instead, she stepped closer, her chest rising to meet his. Her heartbeat thundered loud enough for him to hear and he grabbed her waist with both hands, pulling her against him so suddenly that she gasped. He dipped his head to her neck, not kissing yet, just breathing her in, fighting the last shaky thread of restraint holding him back.“You don’t know what you’re asking for.” He whispered, voice dark, almost trembling.“I do.” Her fingers curled into the back of his shirt. “I want

  • CLAIMED BY THE DEVIL   The confession

Her shoulders slumped upon hearing that. She shook her head, unable to believe what she just heard. She convinced herself that Axel was playing a prank on her, he just wanted to see her reaction. She stood from the bed. A deep frown spread across her face. “This is not the time to joke with me, Axel. We are discussing something serious here.” Axel scoffed loudly. “And what makes you think I’m joking? Do you think I’d willingly want to get married to Elsa even as a joke?” It was at that moment realization dawned on Rebecca. Axel wasn’t joking. She stumbled backwards, still trying to process the whole thing. Her heart was aching, and no matter how hard she tried to deny it, she couldn’t imagine Axel getting married to someone else. Who would take care of her? Who would call her Becca? Who would look at her with eyes filled of love? Who would make her feel like a queen? She would miss the feeling of being wanted.“I don’t get why you seem bothered. It’s a win for you, I won’

  • CLAIMED BY THE DEVIL   Wrong decision

It had been more than three hours since they returned home, and Rebecca was in the bedroom, still trying to wrap her head around the incident. She still found it unbelievable that she almost lost her life within the blink of an eye. She wanted to be alone, and Axel didn’t bulge, he decided to stay in the sitting room, leaving her to get over it. Now that she knew she had lots of enemies, she couldn’t think of someone in particular. Could it be Eric? Could it be don Alessandro? Or Axel’s enemies trying to get at him by hurting her. She was confused. Whoever it was, she decided it was time to get rid of her enemies, once and for all. She picked up her phone and placed a call on Kira. Surprisingly, the call was answered immediately.“Hey.”“Are you okay? Axel told me what happened.” Kira’s voice was heard. She sighed. “Physically, yes. Mentally, no.”“I understand how you feel, Rebecca, I truly do. You just have to take a deep breath and pretend none of those happened today.”

  • CLAIMED BY THE DEVIL   Because she matters

As fast as he could, he pushed Rebecca out of the way and they both fell to the other side, hitting the ground hard. Rebecca’s eyes widened, her lips parted but there was no words coming out. Axel’s weight was on her, covering her from the bullet like a shield and when he stood up, he said in a rush,“Get to safety, I’ll go after him.” He glanced at the man who had just taken to his heels upon noticing he had been caught. Rebecca shook her head. She wanted to speak, but couldn’t. She was terrified. Someone had just tried to kill her, and if Axel didn’t act fast, she would have been dead by now. Understanding her state at that moment, Axel held her hand and led her away from the crowd that was already forming due to the incident. The people around were asking if they were okay, speaking French, but Rebecca didn’t say a word. It wasn’t just because she didn’t hear what they said, she was too flabbergasted to react. They got to where the car was parked and Axel opened the door
